I don't even know who Vegas takes now.Frees up a protected spot in the expansion draft since Sergachev is exempt. Very very good D prospect. Should help with cap issues too.
Tough to lose Drouin though.

T&P Cappy, hopefully Sergachev is the next Ilya Housleyachov.

Drouin is RFA. Potential stars coming off ELC usually get 5 or 6 x $6M, give or take $500K. So a range of $5.5M to $6.5M. No prob for MTL.

TB, on other hand, couldn't handle that type of Drouin contract. Helps their cap; allows them to protect an extra F in expansion...

...and TB gets the young defenceman it has been looking for. Trading Tyler Johnson wouldn't get them a Sergachev. It had to be Drouin.
Duchene? Hearing rumbles Colorado wants to move him for a king's ransom. Sounds like MTL's kind of deal. Now what center do the Habs get for Galchenyuk?
damnholy cow
The Canadiens acquire Jonathan Drouin + a cond. 6th-round pick (2018) from TBL, in return for M. Sergachev + a cond. 2nd-round pick (2018).
they're always the team to watchBob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Team to watch now is MIN. Lots of Jonas Brodin trade talk coming out of Twin Cities. I don't doubt Brodin would type of D MTL is targeting.
Just talked to him and I was assured that it was a blue jacket and tie and that it was bad photography. What's up with 2? As you well know I am not a fashion guy but black jacket and blue pants? I am color blind but not that color blind. Did he tuck in his tie too?

He also asked me if I've ever seen a square tie and there's no way it was tucked in.![]()
I call bs.
that Kucherov contract is incredible value, but that Callahan deal sure isn't helping with their cap issuesJoe Smith @TBTimes_JSmith 2m2 minutes ago
Drouin's $5.5 million AAV would be fourth on #tblightning, behind Stamkos ($8.5), Hedman ($7.87), Callahan ($5.8). More than Kucherov (4.7)
It is what it is at this point. They could've let Tyler walk, little surprised they picked him over Drouin. Guess they like the return.that Kucherov contract is incredible value, but that Callahan sure isn't helping with their cap issues
you don't saythat Kucherov contract is incredible value, but that Callahan deal sure isn't helping with their cap
geeze, what a sweetheart deal. wish Chuck could have made the deal6 years, $33 million ($5.5MM/year) for Drouin in Montreal. That was fast.
I feel better now for sure. You Bolts guys will be fine with Sergachev as a top pair dman for the next ten years.
it's amazing what the trade value is for d-men in the league. You Bolts guys will be fine with Sergachev as a top pair dman for the next ten years.
I didnt think so, but i checked anyway. Not according to thisYou guys still paying Marty?
He wasn't a buyout. His contract expired and he retired IIRC.I didnt think so, but i checked anyway. Not according to this

Dman are a definite premium.it's amazing what the trade value is for d-men in the league.
Taylor Hall gets you Adam Larsson
Jonathan Drouin gets you Mikhail Sergachev
Bolts have Stralman locked up for 2 more years, but Sergachev should be ready to take over by then.
I think the kings were more interested in Landeskog...hahanorthern exposure said:Duchene? Hearing rumbles Colorado wants to move him for a king's ransom. Sounds like MTL's kind of deal.
Sounds like Vegas is going to cash in on a lot of favors.
Damn. That's crazy.Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Spoke with a GM yesterday who was guessing that Vegas already had 3 1st-RD picks in their back pocket with more picks to come before Wed

A 3rd isn't much to give up for a 24 year old former 1st round pick DMan. Nice move by Buffalo.Renaud Lavoie @renlavoietva

Flames goalies struggled big time in the playoffs. But, is a 35 year old Smith at over $5mil a season the answer? I doubt it. Flames would have been better off waiting until after the expansion draft and making a deal with Vegas imo.Mike Smith to Calgary.
Seems odd they would settle on Smith today before all of the movement with the expansion draft.Flames goalies struggled big time in the playoffs. Probably no oneHas Phaneuf been discussed in here yet? Who is going to trade for a 32 yr old Dman with a lot of miles on him that is under contract for $7 mil a season for the next 4 seasons?
Sweet steal hereRenaud Lavoie @renlavoietva

No need really. Well unless they'll take Darren Helm, then I'd give them a 4th rounder or something.Holland says he won't make any deals with Vegas around the expansion draft. Way to hold onto those draft picks Kenny!!
Congrats too to Griffins HC Todd Nelson.Congrats to the Grand Rapids Griffins on their second Calder Cup in five years, Tyler Bertuzzi was the cat's meow.![]()
Wings will protect 7-3-1 and it's doubtful they lose a goalie to Vegas. Maybe Vegas would take Howard then flip him to someone else I suppose, otherwise they lose a depth forward.
Wings need to go into full rebuild mode now. They have four 3rd round picks and should look to acquire more by trading guys like Tatar, Howard, and Helm if anyone will have them. They will need to give Mantha and Larkin contracts next year, I'd keep Athanasiou and Oeullet now. I wouldn't re-sign Tatar, let him go after this year.
They have three more years of Ericsson on the books, oof. Mike Green is in his last year so maybe they can deal him at some point, but the Ericsson and Helm contracts are just horrible to have on the books. They have four years of Zetterberg but he scored 68 points last year and is still probably their best defensive forward. He should be able to play at a high level for at least the next two years and he's always a guy in perfect shape.
No reason to use any money on wandering veterans anymore. Time to play the kids and let them sink or swim.
They need to get out from under one of Ericsson or Helm's contracts. That Helm deal was just atrocious. Indefensible really.Doctor Detroit said:No need really. Well unless they'll take Darren Helm, then I'd give them a 4th rounder or something.![]()
