How did the Eagles starting backfield look? Evenly split between Blount and Smallwood? Either of them stand out?

He's always looked really good. He just mixes in more really bad than your average player.Cutler just stuck that td between Thomas's 4th and 5th rib lol
Cutler doesn't look bad
With Cutler, it's about making good decisions.Cutler just stuck that td between Thomas's 4th and 5th rib lol

He had 4 rushes for 12 yards, 1 catch for 12 yards. Is CMC getting touches?
perfect...hopefully he's doneHe had 4 rushes for 12 yards, 1 catch for 12 yards.
Edge to Smallwood, who is more explosive. Blount had 1 good run - I don't think he'll be cut. Teams are playing run when Blount is in.How did the Eagles starting backfield look? Evenly split between Blount and Smallwood? Either of them stand out?
I agree Ertz is a very good TE play this year. I don't think he is capable of Gronk type numbers though.I think Ertz could put Gronk in a dark shadow this year. I know it won't actually play out that way but he looks like he could be targeted 10+ times every game in this offense and he's good enough to get the TDs.
That being said, I know how it goes. When it comes to the RZ, they will want to get Alshon involved and Blount will probably somehow score 10 TD in November and December but Ertz really could be a mismatch nightmare.
This is quite a mess Jacksonville has gotten themselves into.Brandon Allen comes in - lights it up - surprise starting QB for Jaguars week 1
It would be quite the feat. I think he would need 145 targets to do what Gronk can do with 115.I agree Ertz is a very good TE play this year. I don't think he is capable of Gronk type numbers though.
Wentz looks good again.
Carson Wentz total numbers: 16 of 23 for 241 yds, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 125.2 RAT, 3 sacks.Yes. Jeffries and Ertz staying healthy are key for Wentz to take the next step.
They've honestly got nothing to lose. Henne isn't the answer. If Henne was a starting QB in the league, wouldn't we know it by now?Stealthycat said:Brandon Allen comes in - lights it up - surprise starting QB for Jaguars week 1
Tough to say that when you have one of the most talented rosters in the league. They've honestly got nothing to lose. Henne isn't the answer. If Henne was a starting QB in the league, wouldn't we know it by now?
There's 18MM reasons Bortles isn't the guy.
Why not let Allen go chuck it around the yard?
Except at the most important position. Henne didn't move them at all against the Panthers defense. Bortles is atrocious and gets his option guaranteed if he gets injured.Tough to say that when you have one of the most talented rosters in the league.
Oh yeah I agree. I'm just speaking from the perspective of the Jags coaches/players/management/owners. There is a lot for them to lose. They haven't been well run though. High pick on a RB, $40 million for a 4th string WR and they picked up the 5th year option on the 1 player that is holding them back.Except at the most important position. Henne didn't move them at all against the Panthers defense. Bortles is atrocious and gets his option guaranteed if he gets injured.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Between the crappy qb play and his foot I probably wouldnt target LF at all this season. The Jags look to be bad again this yearWish Jacksonville would just get Kaep in there already. Even if he only throws 15 times a game, his ability to run would make the rin game with Fournette so much more effective. Plus, his passes can't be any more errant that Bortles'. At least he has the decision making to lead a good team.
Seriously, they would probably be better off with Kap/Tebow type and just play a college offense with lots of read options, lots of runs, multiple backs and then a few times a game go deep on play action. With their potentially very good defense, they probably win more games than with the current approach. Hell Tebow won a road playoff game with that offense.Wish Jacksonville would just get Kaep in there already. Westbrook is injured.Keelan Cole, UDFA from Kentucky Wesleyan, started and played almost the entire time with the Jags starters. Played ahead of Hurns and Westbrook.
I know nothing about this guy, though Hurns early in camp compared Cole to Victor Cruz.
I see that now - said he was sore in pre-game so they held him out.Westbrook is injured.
Tex
Picked Keelan Cole up last week. Word out of Jacksonville is they love the kid and he's been playing out of his mind in camp.......I see that now - said he was sore in pre-game so they held him out.
This situation is interesting though. It's a plausible argument that the receiver opposite A-Rob for this team is going to have a lot of opportunity to make things happen. If you're a DC facing Jacksonville right now, you bracket A-Rob, shove everyone else toward the LOS, and play man on the outside until they prove they have another WR that can make you pay for that. Whether that's Westbrook or Keelan Cole, someone's going to get a solid chance. It could still be Hurns too, but Cole played ahead of Hurns last night in what's supposed to be the dress rehearsal game.
ETA - apparently Cole played with the starters in the 2nd preseason game too, where Hurns didn't play a single snap (though Hurns was fully dressed). Hurns played last night, but only in 3-wide sets (at least from my casual watching of the game).
I watched that play 10 times back on DVR, it looks like his knee went after the plant, dang.Worried about Edelman. Looked like a non contact knee injury
Yep, non contact after a hard cut. He limped off, but that is almost always bad.Worried about Edelman. Looked like a non contact knee injury
I already had him in that tier but now everyone else will tooBump Cooks into the second tier of WR1?
For sure. See any upside in Hogan? maybe a more reliable WR3 typeI already had him in that tier but now everyone else will too
I think it's bump James White.Bump Cooks into the second tier of WR1?
Hogan becomes the third receiving option IMO. Definitely worthwhile in that offense. For sure. See any upside in Hogan? maybe a more reliable WR3 type
