One great thing about this game is the pain it inflicts deep down in your gut, when you're so emotionally attached.  Unfortunately, it also applies to my 9 yr old son, who was in tears after the PKs.  "Dad, I can't make it to the WC in 2 yrs, with all this sadness..."

That's ok son, Roma's season starts in late August...there's more where that came from...

We were discussing this plus the removal of players. If it became 9v9 or 8v8 there would be scoring. Get us away from PKs which I understand are necessary, but aren't a reflection of the sport.

Exhaustion.  It's a tournament format with lots of games in quick succession.  There has to be a set end time.

You could always just periodically add extra subs.  Say every 15 to 30 minutes.  It would be much better.

France is not England, plus they're playing in France... We all know how playing at home is a massive boost.

They have the talent to play more positive football, yet they genuinely prefer cynical play.

Italy set-up defensively, but I wouldn't say it was a very cynical display.  They still got forward and weren't overly slowing the game down with fouls, embellishment, and other time wasting.  Often the two go together.

Yesterday was an entertaining and dramatic game IMO

I don't believe the consensus was that it was a good match and I certainly didn't think it was.
