Not likely. What we saw yesterday was not about coaching. Right now two schools are recruiting at an elite level combined with good coaching. Bama and Clemson are just out Jimmying and Joeing everyone. 

UGA is on the verge of unlocking that but anyone would need 2-3 recruiting classes in a row in the top 5 to consistently play with these guys and ND doesn't ever recruit that well. They could get lucky and pull off an upset but it appears hard in the playoffs with a month to prep.

Such a BS excuse by Saban. If Saban wanted to get the deal done, injury be damned, it would have gotten done. He had complete autonomy in Miami.

I actually think Kelly had a decent gameplan. He blitzed a good bit which is out of the norm and it was 3-3 well into Q2 with a fumble that probably should not have been overturned. At that point I think Dabo just said #### it, we’re going deep.  I’ve got two 6’4” 5 star receivers, ND is down a man, and we’re just going to keep throwing it.  Then it just became more and better talent taking over.

New stupid idea. Sec West champ plays ND and sec East champ plays some non p5 Florida or North Dakota school of the moment rather than a champ game vs eachother.  Poke holes.

Plus Saban would have never ran the same type of dynamic offense that Payton put in New Orleans that Brees flourished in.  Brees was good not great in San Diego.   24TDs 15 INTs his last season there.

Saban was a Parcells disciple in the NFL game.  So who knows how Brees would have done there.

Saban to his credit realized a few years back that the old school offense that Bama ran and that Harbaugh now runs at Michigan will not win National Titles anymore and adapted.  That type of offense will allow teams with superior talent to beat inferior teams.  In top matchups though you have to be able to move the ball fast and keep the pressure on opposing defenses.

Watching Michigan lineup every short yardage play this year with 2 TEs and a FB all bunched together was so frustrating..they make it easy on defenses.

Now with that out of the way I go back to my original point. Dabo is still full of it. Whether the Ostarine presence was accidental or not when Dabo comes out and says that it comes from everyday products like protein and shampoo he's being disingenuous and trying to deflect. Why would a company put that stuff in their products and risk fines, lawsuits, and possible imprisonment. If you think my opinion about your coach makes me obnoxious then so be it. If what he says is true then the rest of the team should be tested so the source can be narrowed down and the FDA notified. I'm still waiting to hear one product that has this stuff in it.

How does it feel to root for a program that is so irrelevant, getting shut out by Virginia barely warrants mention in this thread?  I’d prefer institutional systemic steroid use to your existence.

I think the insane coaching turnover the last few years is making an impact. But no doubt the biggest fear by far was quashed with Tua’s ankle (and knee).  Full systems go from here (minus a DT for Clemson and an OT for Bama). Could be a game for the ages.

I don't know that we would beat them, but I would definitely like our chances. Clemson has issues in the secondary, and Haskins was playing out of his mind. Of course our defense is trash, but we certainly would have scored more than 3 f'in points.

I'll give you that; the athletes yinz have would at least made it a game. It probably would've been 45-28 with the Tigers pulling away late.

While I agree, mostly, there still is something to be said for succeeding at the highest level in your profession. 

Maybe you're drawing a line there, coaching in the NFL is different for sure than college. But most successful college coaches at least try their hand at the NFL. Many fail or have inconstant success. 

Obviously I'm glad Saban came to Alabama and he's at least in the discussion for best in the business.  but if we have to choose, the success BB has had is slightly more impressive. 

I would also choose college over the pros, and aside from FF, prefer college ball at all levels over the NFL. It's just a lot more fun.

They haven't lost a game in 2 years. Notre Dame's best win was who- Michigan? The team that just got flattened by Florida? I would equate this to when Boise beat Oklahoma - obviously different circumstances, but at least a non-automatic qualifier got a shot on a big stage. I'm curious if Tuesday's outcome would alter anyone's opinion on UCF, if they knockoff LSU. That would be 2 SEC wins in 2 years. Which would be the same* as Notre Dame. 

*One of ND's wins was Vandy  :rolleyes:

ETA: Disclaimer: I loathe Notre Dame, and recognize the absurdity of UCF getting in over them. But GMAFB with the annual ND love. UGA/tOSU were obviously and objectively better teams than the Irish. If the goal is to have the best 4 teams, than clearly the committee failed.

UCF played an incredibly weak schedule. If UCF wants to play for a national Title they need to schedule better - I am sure ND would play them.

My lean is this way too.  There have been a few games, ND and FSU come to mind, where Clemson's offense have started off a bit a slow but eventually turned into a blowout.  That defensive line is just too good if they can pin their ears back.  Both teams will want to try for a fast start on offense and I see a shootout resulting, similar to their first two matchups.  I'm not sure just how good Alabama's young defense is and how they will hold up vs Lawrence and Eitene

I listed 9 bowl teams ND beat last night.  They destroyed a 10-win Syracuse team.  They beat Northwestern.  What other signature wins does Ohio State have?  Oh, and ND doesn't have the horribly embarrassing bad loss either.

Apparently Northwestern is a signature win. Which tOSU won by 21. ND only beat them by 10. And if 8-5 is a signature win, so is beating 9-3 PSU. You mad b/c ND pads their resume against the weak-### ACC?

 
Gotta laugh at the discussion about who should have been 3 and 4 this year still. 

This was a 2 dog race. ND and okay deserved to get a chance as much as or more than anyone else.

The committee massively failed. It would have been just as bad if they put ucf in. 

These games yesterday should silent the “we blindly want conference champs” argument. That’s the worst take of them all. 

 
U fans not happy that this happened after Diaz left. Babers will get a look. Cristobal makes a lot of sense.

I’m just responding to one specific obnoxious poster that is obsessed with Clemson to the point that his new image is a hilarious dig at them.  It’s strange that you haven’t called him out for his behavior as well, but strange bedfellows and all that.

Also, I attended the playoff game and am enjoying this current run very much. But thanks for the tip.
