2018 Playoff Contest (1 Viewer)

Rolling with (up 2) 9 in the Super Bowl.  If Gronk cannot play and Allen gets some action that would be of help.

Brady Amendola Lewis White Hogan Gillislee Allen Foles Blount.

Hope I can cash.

Good luck. I made it with 0 active guys, so you're already 0.1% of the way there!

I said it at the start of the playoffs, and I'll say it now: Super Bowl LII is going to double-overtime with both the Eagles and the Patriots scoring at least 24 points apiece.

ELOL, I made the cut with three players going today, Coles, Foles, and Ertz.  I'll have Foles, Ertz, and Britt going next week.  I suspect I'm covered.

I’m feeling good going into the SB with 10 players, if Gronkowski doesn’t play and Amendola doesn’t go off I may have a shot at winning this MOFO!!!

Tom Brady, Dion Lewis, Chris Hogan, Kenny Britt, Dwayne Allen, Stephen Gostkowski, New England Patriots, Nick Foles, Alshon Jeffery, Philadelphia Eagles

I updated Calcomatic with the results from Sunday and the live scoring is ready to go for Super Bowl Sunday (except, that I don't know the URL for the game-center for the Super Bowl   a bit of a problem).  The NFL doesn't provide that URL in the same way it does all the other games... anyway, that's a technical problem I'll need to figure out. Maybe @Ignoratio Elenchi can provide some guidance.

Also, I updated the Break Down Page which shows the number of players remaining per Entry.  Based on the number of available players, 3 teams have an edge on the field:

102969 with 13 players
100005 with 11 players
102849 with 11 players

several teams have 10 players as well

 Good luck everyone!

I never managed to create anything for playoff live scoring so I'm not sure.  As far as I can tell though, the same url format should work for the Super Bowl (see last year's for example) so maybe it just hasn't been created yet or something?  Don't know unfortunately.

Holy cow...just checked my team. Figured for sure I didn't have enough players going last week because I loaded up on one team a little too much. Funny thing is: that team rocked, I made the cut, and I'm guessing have a terrific chance!

James White $9 0.00 18.00 10.10

Nick Foles $16 0.00 12.10 35.60

Corey Clement $4 0.00 6.10 3.30

Nelson Agholor $9 0.00 7.40 8.90

Jake Elliott $8 0.00 12.00 8.80

Philadelphia Eagles $10 0.00 3.00 13.00

HOw did someone get past week 1 with 13 players from Philly and NE? And that including Brady and Foles. Hard to imagine anyone taking that team down (they survived week 2 by less then half a point)

Coulda been me if I had emphasized Eagles instead of Rams (and spent $50+ more on Eagles - instead I had 7 Pats and just 2 Eagles).  That is the fun of this contest - gotta get lucky on the disposable players.

If you score all Pats and Eagles there at least 2 live entries that had more points than this entry in weeks 2 and 3.

104585 and 100005.

104585 had the most (that I could find) and only has 9 players but concentrated on studs.

Thanks Steeler for the Super Bowl Calcomatic update! It allowed me to do a bunch of analysis on the remaining teams.

I made a spreadsheet with the rosters of the 25 teams with at least 8 players remaining. There are enough strong teams in the bunch that I expect the winner to come from this group. Applying Maurile Tremblay's current projections, 12 teams have an expected total of 90+ points. In particular, 4 teams are over the 130+ threshold:

  • 104585 -- 143.1 points
  • 100005 -- 138.0 points
  • 102691 -- 131.5 points
  • 102969 -- 130.0 points
All four have Brady/Lewis/Foles and three of Ajayi/Jeffery/Ertz/Elliott.

It may not be surprising to learn that these four teams also have the most budget $ allocated. Not only does 104585 have the highest projection, they also have the highest budget allocation at $177. As noted a few posts ago, it's a stud-heavy roster of only 9 players. 100005 is close behind at $171, while 102969 and 102691 are at $156 and $141, respectively.

QuizGuy and therokie are both among the top 12:

  • QuizGuy66 -- 93.8 points (11th) -- $114
  • therokie0070 -- 107.9 points (7th) -- $134
I'd say good luck, but 100005 is me :) . If anybody has particular questions about other details or rosters, post them here and I should be able to answer.

Thanks twilson and great job putting together your team :)  Would be neat for me to cash since the Eagles actually weren't my intended 2nd team.

Thanks QG! That's how I thought it was going to be for me had the Jags held on last week. 7 Eagles + Fournette/Cole would've still been in play, I bet.

I can't take much credit for my team, as this contest is such a crapshoot. I thought the Pats were the best bet to top the AFC but felt like the NFC was completely wide open. I went with the Eagles just because Dodds made them so cheap, which let me load up.

Picking two bye week teams meant that I had to invest my leftover cash in wildcard players, and underdog ones at that. Fortunately for me, the Jags, Titans, and Falcons all won; I needed all three to beat the divisional cutoff score.

Such a fine line between success and failure in this contest!

How many made it through, but now have 0 players going in the Super Bowl? Hope there's at least someone else to share my misery.

Calcomatic doesn't list any entries with <1 player....but the list only shows 985 live entries.  My guess is that means there are 14 other live entries like yours with 0 players in the Super Bowl.

Calcomatic should be ready to go for the Super Bowl!

I think I figured out which URL to use for the Super Bowl in order to get the live scoring from NFL dot COM but I guess we'll know for sure at around 6:30 when the game starts.

If White, Hogan, and Amendola all do something in the second half, you've got a shot! Especially with the Cooks injury.

The first half was almost perfect for me. Eagles-heavy, with contributions from Blount, Burton, and Clement. 13 point cushion entering the second half. Here's hoping it holds up!

11th place in the Calcomatic.  First time I have cashed in this version of the postseason contest :)  Not bad for having one of my Super teams lose in the Wild Card round :)

-QG

I did! The Gronk and Clement TDs to start the second half gave me a 30 point cushion and pretty much locked it up. I got slightly concerned after the Hogan TD brought it back to the teens, but everything went smoothly from there on out.

The most valuable players were Clement, Blount, Hogan, and Foles, who all generated 2.5+ points per dollar. Brady, Gronk, and Ertz all showed up on a lot of cashing rosters as well. On the flip side, the five least valuable players were Burkhead, the defenses, Lewis, and Cooks, all at <0.5 pts/dollar. Oh, plus Allen/Hollins/Celek putting up active 0s while Gillislee/Britt/Smallwood failed to dress.

Of the pregame favorites, the top five teams all cashed. #6 just missed in 13th. The #1 overall projected team finished in 5th thanks to underperformance by Lewis, Cooks, and Ajayi.

Four teams with fewer than 8 players managed to cash (one with only 5!), finishing as high as 3rd. The 3rd place finisher would've been projected pregame at #7 had I included 7-player teams in my prior analysis. Given the prolific offense on display in the Super Bowl, there were no huge surprises among the cashers.

In what was a disappointing year for me in regular fantasy, the FBG subscriber contests sure made up for it! 19th in the regular season (couldn't overcome Gurley and losing Ertz/Gronk in week 14) and then this. Can't imagine I'll ever come anywhere close to these results again, so I'll enjoy the moment. Though I am guaranteed a lifetime of future chances!
