2020 MLB Spring Training (1 Viewer)

Walker has the stats to get in.  He was a great hitter in the road as well.

I know Jeter deserves in but probably shouldn’t be getting 100% if guys like Cobb, Ruth, Williams, Aaron, etc. didn’t get it.
The whole not getting 100% is dumb.  Another reason why sportswriters are worthless.  There are so many guys that should have been unanimous decisions, but weren't because some sportswriter felt that no one should get 100% of the votes.  Dumb.  Jeter should get 100% without question.

There has been some changing of the guard there. Mariano Rivera just got 100% last year.

I know.  And that was awesome.  I hope that trend continues, but I have a feeling that will make the sportswriters pull back even more.  You'll have a bunch of guys not vote for someone just so it ensures a non 100% vote.  Jeter deserves 100%.  Let's see if he gets it.

Omar Vizquel is a guy I don’t get the push for HOF. 3 time all star.

I’d put him in the Hall of slightly above average.

Phils sign Bud Norris. And with that, I don’t even know if we need to play the games this season. The Fightin’s just won the World Series, suckas!

Jeter is a HOFer no doubt, but I don’t think being unanimous is necessarily incorrect. He’s barely top 100 in WAR.  Chipper Jones wasn’t unanimous like 2 years ago and he has way better numbers. You Yankee honks need to chill out.

There are a number of HOFers that should've been unanimous and for whatever reason the writers have always refused to do so before Mariano. Chipper deserved to be unanimous too.

Probably so but the HOF is stupid anyway. I went as a kid and thought it was the greatest thing ever, but after having watched some of the players who’ve made it in and some who are still on the outside, it’s just a big goof.

Barry Bonds is not in the hall of fame but Harold Baines is. Imagine being incredulous over whether a guy got a 100% of the vote but not that.

Smells like a Clicks for Barstool Sports to me.

Weak sauce. #### those guys.
The guy got people to flip the #### out, including “legitimate” writers, with one very obvious joke tweet linked to a blog post that explained how dumb HoF voting is, which they didn’t bother to read.

Who’s the idiot?

Considering he played SS he must've been a real wizard to play 2 positions
Yup.  My memory is going, as stated in about 100 other posts.  Are you now going to stalk me on this board for the rest of my life?

Just wondering if you could let me know in advance, GB.

Poor Dustin Pedroia.  I'm not a Sox fan, so I was surprised when I looked up his stats and saw that he actually played a lot more than I thought.  I feel like the guy's been injured since his MVP season.

For me, he'll always be remembered most for one of the greatest commercials ever.

Larry Walker helped win some fantasy baseball leagues.  He was good in Montreal but the rare air of Colorado pushed him up a notch.  95', 97', 99', 01' were odd but very productive years for him.  He hit for power but he was also a .300+ hitter.  I remember having him and the big cat, Andres Galarraga when they were both with the Rockies.

To the people who are arguing about Bonds and the other Big Heads not getting in, what's your feeling on sign stealing?
Sign stealing was a coordinated team thing, totally different. And I think Altuve/Bregman should not have it counted against them for the Hall (it will of course).

Ozuna is taking his talents to Atlanta.
I guess I’m good with this. One year deal still frees up Pache and Waters to take over when/if they’re ready and it sends Markakis finally to the bench.

Lineup is probably...

1. Acuna, RF

2. Albies, 2B

3. Freeman, 1B

4. Ozuna, LF

5. Swanson maybe?, SS

6. Riley / Camargo, 3B

7. Flowers, C

8. Inciarte, CF

I saw a post on Twitter last night about Jeter. He played in 158 postseason games. That’s unreal. Like a whole extra season.

That is what separates him from Walker and why you can’t just go by WAR.

I wonder how everything would’ve turned out for him if the Astros drafted him and not Nevin. The Yankees would’ve eventually signed him anyway as a FA, I assume. They pretty much get anyone they want it seems.

His numbers were not that much different away from Coors.  Deserves to be in the Hall. 🇨🇦
Not saying Walker shouldn’t be a HOFer, but his OPS in Colorado was 1.172 in 2500 plate appearances. In all other parks combined his OPS was .871.  IMO, that does not qualify as “not that much different.”

So punish Walker because he didn't play on the Yankees?

Not really. It’s part of the reason he wasn’t a first ballot 99.7% kind of guy is all I’m saying.

I think he was a fringe selection and ultimately they got it right.

Fair enough. Seems I was mislead somewhat  by canadian media.  :tinfoilhat:

Just checked some comparisons Here and have to say these are more significant than I thought. That said these are not any advanced stats so not sure how that may or may not change things.

He was wearing a spongebob shirt for all the interviews yesterday. He deserves to get in for that alone. 😎
