The Khris Middleton noise is getting pretty loud. Still nothing official but several decent sources are reporting he has a grade 2 sprain and won’t play against the Celtics.

As great as Giannis is, Middleton is their "get a bucket when we need it" guy. Jrue can handle that to an extent, but his offense seems like an afterthought for the Bucks most of the time. When Giannis tries to go 1 on 4, it doesn't usually work out well (which was their go-to for a long time until they realized it just doesn't work in playoff time).
This series is going to be electric. I really have no idea which way it will go and could see it going either way, even with Middleton out. Giannis is clearly the best player in the series and their team defense will be great, but Boston will have everyone available and is playing great basketball on both ends.
Barring injury, I don't see either team being swept or losing in 5. If Boston gets rolling on offense, their defense stifles the Bucks and Budenholzer has no answers, the Celtics could roll through them in 6. But if Giannis plays great and the Celtics struggle on offense, I could see a dogfight that the Bucks win in 6. Likely goes 7 games, which means everyone wins.

I bought game 7 tix for Philly/Toronto before the series started hoping I wouldn't have to use them - it was the only home date in the first round that my son and I could make work (can't really drive up from B-more on a school night). Now I'm downright dreading the possibility of going to Philly on Saturday. It would be one thing if it had been a back-and-forth series, but a potential historic collapse isn't something I feel the need to see a person, and a win would feel more like relief than anything.

a small begging point, but one nonetheless. Nugs Gordon, Barton and Morris have been drastically recast by injury into roles they're not suited for. Gordon was traded for because MPJ was rapidly proving to be a Greek statue with a great shot, so the Nuggets needed a guy who knew & could do all the other forward jobs. Because the Magic had used Gordon everywhere, he could cover that without being relied on to shoot, which he does poorly cuz he never sets the same way twice in a row.Capella said:

Not one of these three guys have the skill to be the #2 option, yet they all have been used that way due to Denver injuries. put Murray & MPJ back on the court and Gordon goes back to hustle baskets, Morris keeping minus bench minutes off the board & Barton making a shot here, steal there. If Payton Pritchard had to run the point in Boston or Brandon Clarke had to be #2 option in the Grizzlies offense, they'd be exposed similarly. Tis a shame Joker got no one to share the load, but...

I know! How on earth does this guy go undrafted? He was great at OSU earning accolades on both sides of the ball. You telling me there were 40+ players better than him in the 2016 draft?
Drafts are such an inexact science.

I'm sure you're right, but it boggles the mind that nobody expected the son of one the NBAs best defensive guards of all time - a kid who was 2x 1st Team Pac 12 & 2x Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year - to be worth a flier on draft night.

Gordon has a role in the league. It is as the 2nd or 3rd guy off the bench that plays defense and brings energy to the game. Those guys make like 10 million a year.
Problem is he was playing on a playoff team as the number 2 option at like 25 million per.

MPJ has proven to be a lackluster man defender, especially in space, but he's proven to be a good rim protector from the weakside for a forward. He won't be confused with prime Josh Smith, but he averaged a block a game last season. They are a good pair as they cover each other's weaknesses and exploit their strengths.
Regarding Barton - he definitely has the skill set of a guy every team wants because he is a slight plus in pretty much every sense BUT he also plays hero ball too often, was not consistently engaged this season, and if he doesn't touch the ball for a few possessions, he can get antsy and call his own number. He also has the skill profile of high end sixth man type that could help float a second unit, but he's been surprisingly awful in that role for the last few years. If he is still a Nugget next season, I would love for him to be on the bench unit with Bones.
The last couple of playoffs have shown that the Nuggets need another lockdown perimeter defender to help hide Jokic's deficiencies in the pick and roll.

I think he's a starter, but you utilize him on defense. He's that guy that can get garbage baskets, rebound putbacks and finish on the break offensively, but he is a athletic and high end defender worthy of a starting spot.

that's why i reached for a rimrunner as my 2nd pick in our recent Roster Draft - we have yet to see how Joker would work with a twitchy, switchy beanpole as his major domo, but it might be even better than with the pick & pop guys
btw, MPJ has fine gamesense, but damn near the worst feet in the game. aint gonna fix that without tweakin his back over&over&over

I think he is slightly better than 2nd or 3rd guy off the bench, but not much. Every DEN game I watch I do marvel at how I do not even notice him

Unpopular opinion but I'd move Zion. Great individual offensive player (on rare occasion he takes the court) but personally don't believe he'll make them a better team. Not to mention he's amazingly already going on year 4. They're on the way up with or without Zion.
Id build around Ingram. They hit lotto with 3 long time NBA contributors in Jones/Alvarado/Murphy.

We should have seen this 76er win coming. 6er nation panicking, and Barkley predicting a Raptor blow out.
I actually like the 76ers chances against the Heat if Lowry and Butler (especially Butler) are banged up and can't give 85 or 90 percent of their usual.

Fool's gold. Having watched or listened to every single game for the last 2 seasons, I can assure you it's not fool's gold. We have a coach now that has made these guys believe in themselves. And the only reason I haven't given up on Zion already is that I am VERY interested to see what Zion can do under Willie Green's coaching. Zion hasn't a played for a good coach yet, but has still dominated when he was in there. Look at what Green has done without him, the alleged superstar of the team, playing a single second. We had THREE ROOKIES on the court in the second half of an elimination game against the #1 team and LED THE GAME with 2 minutes remaining with our second leading scorer on the bench for much of that time. I'm not a blame the officials guy (I don't think I've made one post about bad officiating, it's to be expected IMO), but CJ "disappeared" because they called several BS fouls on him (2, IIRC, were offensive) and he sat for most of the 3rd and 4th quarters, basically half the game. I'll give you that he's streaky, but I think that could be argued for everyone. But this is B.I.'s team and CJ helps take pressure off of him, and his presence has 100% changed the dynamic of the team in a good way. 
In fact, it took what I think will turn out to be a career-high from Bridges the last game and literally a historic perfect game from CP3 last night to beat this Fool's Gold. An 8 seed. A play-in team. A team that started 3-16.
Hats off to the Suns. The better team won. But we made it interesting, and I think these tough losses (and the couple of wins) will go pretty far in development of this young team. I can't say I'll be rooting for y'all bc I'm still bitter this AM

I'm just needling a bit but I do think that CJ line needs to be addressed. Believe me, I too once fell in lust with his skill set. But time and time again, he wilts when it matters most. You can have an off night shooting. Happens to everybody. But when he's off, he's not really going to contribute anywhere else. He doesn't even pretend to play defense, he won't look to pass, he will not go after rebounds, he is never going to dive for loose balls, he is just going to keep shooting.
Good luck next year and beyond. I hope Zion turns into Mega Star because he's fun to watch for sure. But again, it's hard to watch him when he NEVER plays.
