Also probably didn't look back his way because of the heavy dollars on week 9. It's only 3 bucks but I probably felt set on where the Blank and Seibert dollars fell in the byes so never reopened that. Same with defenses (though that obv has worked out better)

As @sooted72 said, Gano was cleared and good to go, but just like you, I never really revisited his status. My fault. I took an unneeded risk by rostering 2 kickers that I thought were not all that secure, but had a chance of being great values. I just hope now that Rodrigo does well in Prater's place (and perhaps Prater is hurter than we think). Yes, I just made up a word.
 
Week 7 has some studly byes

QB - Cousins (1014 - 22.13%), Hurts (891 - 19.45%), Allen (705 - 15.39%), Stafford (190 - 4.15%), Minshew (23 - 0.50%)
This week may be the most important of the entire contest for the QB position. Cousins & Hurts were the 2nd and 3rd most common behind Carr from the start, and continue to be so. But Josh Allen, who started as the 14th most common, is now the 4th! He is completely destroying my theory to never roster an expensive QB. AFAIK, he has the highest survival rate (64.27%) of all 348 players/teams offered, and was the most expensive QB... that's insane! If you can find anyone with a higher rate, please correct me. I'm calling it now - this is the most important week for Derek Carr owners.

RB - D. Cook (612 - 13.36%), Moss (342 - 7.46%), Mattison (249 - 5.43%), Gainwell (176 - 3.84%), Singletary (158 - 3.45%), Scott (139 - 3.03%), J. Cook (137 - 2.99%), Sanders (118 - 2.58%), Henderson (101 - 2.20%), Akers (95 - 2.07%)
Besides Dalvin Cook, there isn't alot to see here. Sure, Singletary & Sanders have done well, but neither are common. Henderson has a shot to move up, but his ownership level is a bit low to matter. Sad fact - Akers was more common than Singletary or Sanders to begin. It's probably more important this week that we are missing Javonte Williams & Elijah Mitchell than all these guys combined.

WR - McKenzie (925 - 20.19%), J. Jefferson (862 - 18.81%), Davis (592 - 12.92%), Robinson (429 - 9.36%), Osborn (409 - 8.93%), AJ Brown (367 - 8.01%), Diggs (366 - 7.99%), Kupp (283 - 6.18%), Thielen (272 - 5.94%), Smith (249 - 5.43%), V. Jefferson (66 - 1.44%), Crowder (52 - 1.13%)
I wonder... Jefferson was $35 and the 9th most common while Kupp was $1 more and the 48th most common - would their commonality have been reversed if JJ was $36 and Cooper was $35? As with QB, I think week 7 is also the most crucial for this position. Not only do all 4 bye teams have a stud WR, but overall, the WR2's/WR3's on the teams are also fairly common.

TE - Goedert (870 - 18.99%), Knox (433 - 9.45%), Higbee (295 - 6.44%), Smith (99 - 2.04%)
Goedert & Higbee have been great for their prices, while Knox & Smith have joined the $14 TE duds. As with RB's this week, besides the top owned guy, not alot to see. Sure, maybe your team depends on this group, but the average team is/has not been counting on the trio of Knox, Higbee, and Smith. Lemme apologize in advance to the zero remaining owners who have this trio. Another fun fact - Goedert started as the most common TE, and remains. He is currently TE4.

K - Joseph (283 - 6.18%), Bass (185 - 4.04%), Elliott (171 - 3.73%), Gay (144 - 3.14%)
All 4 kickers were $5 and above, so none were very common. The only one in the top 10 right now is Bass.

D - MIN (648 - 14.14%), BUF (646 - 14.10%), PHI (376 - 8.21%), LAR (215 - 4.69%)
The Bills & Vikings started as the 4th & 5th most common, but MIN has leapfrogged BUF, despite BUF being D2. Why roster expensive D's?

It would not be surprising to see that 4th most common rate drop down to 10th by week 8 :wink:
 
As we are all witnessing, more than a few players highly rated in the pre-season have actually been duds, and some that were considered sleepers have paid huge dividends. Pat yourself on the back if you have been right on a few of them. Being successful in this contest requires being correct at playing your hunches, not buying into the hype on some players, while hitting on hunches where you see something in a player that has not been noticed by many others (this has been my vulnerablity most years). If you have an accurate enough fantasy football crystal ball in your head to hit on a few of these things and also manage to avoid the injury bug either by luck, or by skepticism over a player's past injury history, then you likely have survived to this point. Note that as we just now approach the mid-point of the contest in week 7, nearly 2/3 of the teams have already been eliminated. If your team is still alive, now the moment of truth arrives for all of us on our bye-week management. I suspect many of us are cringing a little as we look forward with our lineups to the next few weeks. There are so many variables in this contest that it's difficult to be confident from one week to the next, even if you have done well up until now. We have seen teams with super high averages bite the dust, while others have narrowly avoided the Turk in some weeks, yet still have good prospects going foward. I love this contest and I love the challenge. I can't brag about being good at it, but it's a lot of fun the longer I manage to survive.

I have especially enjoyed hearing everyone's strategy (as well as jokes) along the way. Some of you guys make me feel like I need to look for a copy of "Fantasy Football for Dummies". I can hardly believe I didn't even know about this forum until this year, even though I have played in this contest every year since 2011.

Oh, and special thanks, to "TheWinz" for the player bye info just above. I was just wondering about all of that just as I saw your post.

Then when it looked like Gano was going to be fine, I went back to him because his bye week was a better fit. Then when I could not find even a hint of information on Santos and his job security, I swapped him for Blankenship after the Colts cut the guy that was competing with him in preseason. So at least I'm fotunate to have 2 active kickers, unlike many here. Hopefuly Blankenship gets a chance to play this wekeend and puts up some good numbers. Best case scenario is Rodrigo gets a gig before my kicker byes in weeks 9 &10.

It wasn't my list; it was ZWK's, and it was posted in this thread back on 21 Aug. The bottom three $3 kickers were Seibert, Santoso, and Blankenship. They are the only 3 kickers this year to have lost their jobs due to suckage.

To be fair, Seibert got hurt. And he sucked. But mostly he got hurt.

It's a fun board, and the contest geeks are an especially lively and humorous bunch.

None of us takes ourselves too seriously, while we all take the contest kinda seriously. And also kinda not, because it really is kind of a frivolous thing where we know we have virtually no chance to win. It takes a lot of luck to crack this contest - one untimely injury can ruin a rooster.

I have no idea if my scrappy rag tag bunch of bums will keep on keeping me above the cut line but I check each week with a hope and a prayer. I doubt I have the ponies to win, but with the nature of the contest being attrition, sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. And who knows - if I make it to the end, maybe I can go on a run while other teams take some hits. In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man is king, and all that.

Thank you for pointing this out - I never realized I was doing that!
I've looked back and figured out what I was doing wrong. I was actually changing text to "black" when I thought I was changing to default.
I'll be sure to avoid this issue going forward.

(I also went back and 'fixed' a few of my recent posts)

I just want consistency in my rooster... that's all I want. Just consistency of being about 30 pts over the Sunday Night cut for another 8 weeks. 🙏

... and for Blankenship or Seibert to be kicking for someone before Week 9 when I lose my 3rd kicker.

It wasn't my list; it was ZWK's, and it was posted in this thread back on 21 Aug. The bottom three $3 kickers were Seibert, Santoso, and Blankenship. They are the only 3 kickers this year to have lost their jobs due to suckage.

I disagree. If Seibert was truly hurt instead of sucking, they wouldn't have cut him so quickly.

With Blank in out of approximately 10,000 kicker slots across all live roosters about 2,000 are automatic 0s. Woulda been about double that if Blank were out and Prater in

Blank was activated, and Prater will likely be inactive, although we won't be certain until they post the inactive list about an hour and a half prior to kickoff. Assuming Blankenship is the kicker tonight, on the plus side I have a 3rd active kicker this week. On the negative side, it is offset by the likely effect of bumping the cut line while also bumping the total scores of all the teams who would have been completely without a kicker in week 7. Statistically, I suspect it's a net negative for my survival this week because having 2 kickers versus a lot of teams with NONE, is probably better statistically than having 3 kickers vs all those teams having 1. :ponder:

Yasss….I have the Blankenship/Card defense connection going on tonight with a number of you!

I have managed to push on with Swift down so Hope he does well this week since I have Hurts on Bye this week…
 
I have CMC in real fantasy - he went to a team outside the circle of trust in terms of a coach for an RB. Hope I am wrong....

On a side note adds a key piece to 331 roosters (not mine) on the week 9 bye so it may indirectly help me in that tough week.
