2022 Las Vegas Raiders (6 Viewers)

Gruden / Mayock had HORRIBLE drafts. It's kind of hard to get how bad. Here's their draft history (reminder Mayock / Gruden drafted from 2018 to 2021): https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/rai/draft.htm

That's 7 first round picks - with ZERO hits. The best pick has been an average RB who didn't even get his 5th year option picked up.

There's also a lot of hype about last year, but the Raiders squeaked into the playoffs after playing THE easiest schedule in the NFL. The teams they played had the worst win total in 2021 and thus
the Raiders had the #1 cucpcake schedule. And still - barely got into the playoffs.

I say all this just to point out - McDaniels tenure has been bad. But he didn't take over a real playoff team, he took over a bad team with a very abd talent level. A team which had 1 winning season since 2016 while playing the easiest schedule in the entire NFL. This isn't an excuse for McDaniels and Carr, but a reflection that, to DocHolliday's point, they are part of a bad organization that appeared better than it was due to a flukey 2021.
"an average RB"? :lmao: Ok.

He's had a negative DVOA in 2021 and 2020 and a barely positive DVOA in 2019. For those unfamiliar, DVOA is an efficiency metric which is a far superior analysis to looking at simple yards or TDs. In 2022. It factors in situation - getting 1 yard on 3rd and 1 is a success but getting 1 yard on 2nd and 8 is a failure.

In DVOA the last two years, Jacobs has ranked 38th and 39th. And as a receiver, one of the most important skills for today's RBs, he's also been a detriment. He was mildly positive in rushing (not receiving) his first year and this year is finally ranked in the top 10 at 5.

Jacobs has not been very good until a few games this year. I don't know what you would point to otherwise. Maybe now he becomes a good back but up until this point he's been average in his performance, at best. And the Raiders not picking up his 5th year option tell you exactly what they think.

Really can not care much less.

I'm going out for the Pats game next month, and I don't care.

Put a competitive product on the field, and they'll get my attention. I doubt I'll watch another game this year, aside from the one I attend. They don't deserve any of our attention until they prove they can beat anyone.

I'll check in on ESPN.com this Sunday, I'm sure they will make it a competitive game with the biggest train wreck in the league, the Colts.

Final will probably be 16-13, just two blind monkeys humping a football.
i might go to the rams game if the price is right.

I don't really care for some of these advanced metric stats. I've watched every game he has played and he is a better than average RB. He has also been an excellent receiver when given the opportunity. As far as the fifth year option, this was a new staff and I believe the fifth year RB option would have been about $10M.

DVOA has a lot of flaws in its construction. Jacobs has been better than average his entire career and near elite when he's been healthy, which admittedly hasn't been often until this season.

But your boader original point about Grudock's awful early round drafting still stands just fine regardless of how good or not Jacobs is.

4th highest yards (5th is 60 yards back)
5.4 average
tied for 5th most rushing TD's
MOST rushes for 1st down in the league
4th highest yards per game
I wish I could find reliable yards after contact numbers because I know he would be high there.
Running behind a line we all know is not the best in the league.

But yea.... average.

Smoke is an understatement at this point. Question is how much fire ahead? Next 2-3 weeks will be telling. These are still winnable games. Lose these and looking at a race for #1 pick and the QB it brings.

If Carr is a true leader and a legit NFL QB, he will find a way to transcend whatever struggles are going on right now with Ronny Mac.

His best friends are there to help him. Prove us wrong, Derek & Davante & Josh & OL & Darren & Hunter & Foster & Mack. As a team. Fight or die.

Two down from the friend list. #FightOrDie

Fight or die.
JFC.

It's football, like all sports it's entirely inconsequential. You know that.

Perspective.

Besides the FO is in complete tank mode (happened after your post). All we need to do is readjust our perspective to where it should have been before the season began. It was always a 2-3 year rebuild, let's just take a breath, pour a tall one and enjoy life.

Sports is fun, if it makes you suffer...gotta ask yourself why you allow that to happen. Not worth it IMO.

Love my Raiders, always will, just won't allow myself to go down that negative path anymore.

Sorry, I'll stop now.

Kidding. I hear you, but if these particular guys on this particular Raiders team don't realize that they are literally in #FightOrDie mode for their Raiders, if not football existence, then they aren't worth another thought or breath this year.

I know. I get it.

Ultimately I think I have just grown tired of the high stakes attitude and language of war we apply to what is, ultimately such a low stakes nothing burger.

I will always love my sports and my team's but, honestly who ####$$$ cares about millionaires and billionaires who don't think about us outside of the revenue we generate for them.

All the respect in the world for getting paid Yo. I am always on the side of players getting paid but #### you if you think I am going to let what you (the team) do in your little game negatively impact my life.

Super happy when you win, don't care when you lose. Wish I had come to this epiphany 30+.years ago.

Now tank 2022 properly and build a winner going forward Al, I mean Chucky, wait...I mean...what's his name? Red headed Moe Howard?

Whatever, get it done already you privileged yutz.

Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr will be released this offseason, per source.
Surely there would be a good trade market for him. I mean there was for Mayfield, Ryan, and Wentz, and he's better than any of them.
A trade would make sense, but carr is on record saying he’ll quit rather than play for another team
Money talks, I would love to see him stand by that, he would immediately become my all time favorite player, but I think, ultimately, that bull#### walks...to another team.

Carr would for sure play for another team, especially if tens of millions of dollars (not to mention legacy) are at play ... Which they absolutely could be - for still YEARS to come. All IF his wheels don't completely fall off ROS.

Bottom line, there are plenty of reasons for Carr and the rest of this team to keep keeping. Look at Carolina tonight. Respect to them for not quitting. F quitting. And F tanking. Create a winning culture always and make the best of the draft picks you get. In 2016, the Chiefs without a first round pick to their name somehow managed to select the two best players in that draft: 1. Tyreek Hill (rd 5) and 2. Chris Jones (rd 2). It can be done.

TBH I'm not sure why @CJE_NFL and their ~5k Twitter followers are worth discussing in here.

This feed ever break a story? Honestly, under the broken Clock theory I'd like to see at least three broken stories before I give them any real consideration.

I would only trade Carr and not outright release him. Keep him around as we rebuild u til the team is a QB away from being competitive. Carr isn’t the biggest problem anyway.

Tillery is being released by the Chargers. I would like is to pick him up. We should be well positioned in the rankings to get him.

Ian Rapoport Reporting Josh McDaniels could be on the way out and Sean Payton in for the Las Vegas Raiders
I hate, hate, HATE, the idea of giving up on any new coaching staff after one season.

It's easy to look at the Giants, Vikings & Dolphins and wonder "Why not us?"

But I think that's incredibly reactionary and terribly naive . Every regime deserves 2-3 years before you can start writing the book of pros & cons.

With that being said I would give Mark Davis's left nut to get Sean Payton and I would do it yesterday!

Replacing your coach with some guy, and need a win to build his confidence?

Bring in the new guy before Raiders game
The losses need to pile up. The season was over weeks ago. Start looking ahead LV.
Higher draft capital isn't fixing this
Wasting great draft capital for years has dug a hole that no coach can fix. Not saying McD is the answer but look at the quality of players. It’s pitiful

Last year the team cared. They played with passion and energy.

This team doesn't care. Robertson jogging letting freaking old man slow Ryan get another 5 or so yards when he should have ran him down. Butler lazily gathers the fumbled ball to give it back to Indy.

That is an indictment on the coaching staff. I fear I was right about McDaniels in not wanting him. I am not seeing anything that tells me this is the right coaching staff for us to build on. Nothing.

Some players have the passion that burns and don't need a coach. Most do. Professional or not. It is the human condition. McDaniels doesn't seem to know how to lead a team and it seems he is just yet another example of the absolute dismal record of the Belicheat coaching tree.

It's shocking how bad this team is. I was really hoping we got an aggressive defensive coordinator. I am so sick of watching the Raider defense just sit back and get picked apart and give up long drives and not be able to stop anyone year after year.

There is not talent on defense after Maxx. That's a hard fact that Raider fans should have accepted before the season began.

Ditto the offensive line. Now fans need to hope they can suck worse than the Broncos and Texans RoS and secure the #1 pick.

Then we can discuss the merits of taking a QB or trading it for a #### ton of picks.

But that's the path to the rebuild this franchise has needed for two decades.

Most of us stated repeatedly that there was no talent on D or the O line. Not sure what Raider fans didn’t accept that?

This team is 2 or 3 years away from competing if they start rebuilding now. Say goodbye to Carr, Adams, Waller and Jacobs. Say hello to more misery. It’s not really new and nothing Raider fans can’t handle. We know how to lose.
