With Daniel Snyder out of the NFL ...there was a hole to fill. The Carolina Panthers David Tepper has now done just that. Throwing a drink on paying fans? Not a good luck for anyone, let alone the owner.

Add in their ill-advised trade for the 1st pick last year, and right now Carolina has separated itself from every other franchise on the most dysfunctional list.

Agreed that he appears to be taking over the role as the villain-Owner...although if they had taken Stroud (or even Richardson) they would be getting a pass on the ill-advised trade.

I can't imagine any coach wants to work for Tepper.

They might be the least talented team in the league and probably have to trade Burns for some draft capital.

If Tepper doesn't change his ways quickly, the Panthers will be the toxic franchise that nobody wants to work for (and free agents will only come to if they are grossly overpaid) that Washington was during the Snyder years.

Already feels like they are in that spot. Had Ben Johnson turn them down last year. Their best bet is to do one of those total control Bill Parcels type of deals. Just get the football operations completely away from this clown.

Before it's all over Tepper will set new lows for NFL ownership.

He made $300K while I typed this post.

ETA .. Actually, $30B x 5% interest per year / 365 days a year / 24 hours a day = $114,000 per hour that he makes in a conservative 5% interest bearing account. So technically it takes Tepper very roughly 2.75 hours to pay this fine

Wanted to make sure y'all saw his pathetic statement too:

"I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday," Tepper's statement read. "I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL's code of conduct and accept the League's discipline for my behavior."

Definitely “I’m only sorry because I got caught” vibes.

Saints are in the mix. $78m over the 2025 cap. One of the oldest teams in the NFL. Just signed Kamara to a "thanks for your service" contract extension (which he totally earned so I get it) instead of trading him and recouping some picks.

There’s hope for some of you dumpster fires, but you have to get rid of your terrible owner ala 2022 poll winner Washington

Detroit didn’t get a new ownership but Sheila Hamp is infinitely better than either of her parents (the late William Clay Ford Sr & 99 y.o. Martha Firestone Ford.)

She took over in June, 2020 - middle of COVID lockdown - and her first major moves were firing the GM + HC after an embarrassing Thanksgiving loss, and hiring Chris Spielman to be her personal assistant a few weeks later.

Obviously the Holmes & Campbell hires were both home runs. But it goes way beyond that. The entire culture at Allen Park has changed, and she deserves full credit. Her determination to embrace their woeful past and create a transparent organization that holds everyone accountable fundamentally changed how they went about problem solving.

Campbell gets all the glory and everyone knows what a heater Brad has been on the last four drafts. They’re both great at their job.

But it makes all the difference in the world to have supportive ownership that tries to make everything better, while at the same time leaving the football operation alone.

So many billionaires think they’ve succeeded in business, we should just apply those same principles to the NFL. Naw, bro. Just get the heck out of the way - this ain’t your game. Let the football people football.

Jets are grabbing the baton and running with it, fellas.

Neoptism on all fronts - check
Meddling teenage boys - check
No QB - check
Owner is political and absent - check
No GM or coach - check
Madden ratings used to scout players - check

I mean, if you list the things from the past month, there isn’t a worse franchise in football. The Raiders even own this clown show of epic proportions.

Sell the team, you disgraces. Sell the team.

This was a March, 2022 poll.

Until the Watson contract is off the books, I think that alone puts the Browns in the running. Everything about that trade is just…oof.

But also agree with rock. It’s hard to imagine how things get better in the short term for the Jets. They continually doubled down on centering the team around Rodgers and what he wanted and they’re left without a whole lot now. Though it feels like they still have a bunch of talent on the team. But it seems doubtful that they can put the right organizational structure together to make use of that talent before those guys get disgusted and leave.

How do you let the leader of your team go to your arch rivals. He was not just the leader but the most popular player in the fan base. Then he goes off for 2000 rushing yards. Now we get to face him twice a year until he retires. Well not this year. They will let us win so we can’t even keep a top 5 pick. All he wanted was to be paid fairly. That whole hard knock tape makes it even worse. The owner should have stepped in and told the GM to sign him. Give him a few extra millions for the all the money and value he brings to the franchise. Yeah, this whole incident has made me very sad.

Everything hinges on making the right hire - James Dolan of the Rangers/Knicks was way worse than Woody for decades...then he made the right hire and he doesnt seem so bad. Vrabel in the building today - hiring an experienced coach like him would be a solid step in right direction.

The 2025 New Orleans Saints is a team that could be a bottom dweller based on their cap situation, talent and current QBs. They need to trade/release all those veteran contracts and start from scratch.

Sane fans have been saying this for years, yet they just keep kicking the can down the road and watching their cap hell get bigger and bigger. Now it'll take a solid 2 years of pain (and paper bags) to get back right with the cap.
