Sengun with another pedestrian 35/15/5 type game. He doesn't get the national press but he's easily one of the best young players in the game and the engine of this Rockets team. It would be a shame if doesn't make the All-Star team.
My 12 would be

SGA, Luka, Kawhi, Lebron, Jokic, AD, Curry, Durant, Fox, PG, Booker, Ant
Blocked
Of those 12 who would you put Sengun over? There’s also other guys (Gobert, Sabonis, KAT, Markkanen, Chet, Harden, Kyrie, Murray, Ingram) who have perhaps just as good of cases

I was joking around with the blocked stuff. It will be a few years before he's an All-Star. Clearly my homerism got the best of me but I'd take him over big men like Gobert, Sabonis, KAT, Chet and Markkanen. Right now it's just NBA pundits that see his greatness and Joker potential.

Doesn’t it seem like the Cavs are being overlooked? Currently on a 7 game streak even with key players out. I guess you have to prove it in the playoffs first.
A win is a win but . . .

- 5 of the 7 wins were at home.
- 2 were against the Wizards (7-35 record)
- 1 was against the Spurs (8-34)
- 1 was in Paris against the Nets (17-25)
- 1 was against the Bulls (21-23)
- 1 was a blowout against the Bucks without Giannis
- 1 was against the Hawks (18-24) without Trae

Not exactly a murderer's row of opponents.

Marvin Bagley III, only the third NBA player ever to have back to back 20 point 10 rebound performances in their first two games with a new team following an in-season trade. The other two, Antoine Walker and Wilt Chamberlain.

The Pistons can't even give bad players away correctly.

Did KAT get hurt or something? Has been out for like the last 5 minutes of the game
He was gassed. It was a bizarre game (I was there!). Ant was questionable all day with an illness, and then played but basically refused to shoot for the entre first half.

Terrible loss, very strange game. I'll be interested to see what they all say about Ant's game.

Yikes. Conjuring up memories of Nick Anderson
Unless you believe Ant is the type of player to have his confidence shaken by something (anything?) like this, it appears you are comparing apples to wagon wheels here.
Definitely wasn't inferring Ant would fall off the map like Nick but all the missed free throws from a good shooter reminded me of it.

Embiid with the franchise record - 70 points!

ETA - surpassed Wilt
And it's VERY possible he gets outscored by KAT.

Embiid is so much better than cat
Anyone anywhere ever argue otherwise?

Just making sure the masses know Georgie

It must be exhausting being a Philly sports fan. It definitely is listening to most of them.

A book should be written about this specific game or perhaps a miniseries. Freaking wild.

Not nearly as exhausting as Celtics’ fans or 49ers fans

Disagree.

And apparently this was the anniversary of Kobe's 81 point game:

@NBA

KAT left it all on the floor, including scoring 44 1H PTS and knocking down 10 triples on way to a new career high of 62.Towns becomes the first player in NBA history with 10+ 3PM, 10+ 2PM, and 10+ FTM in a game.

I stand by my comments that the streak the Cavs are on has come against inferior opponents, but I did notice they made a decent jump in the analytics site projections. Since we've hit the halfway point to the season (and I haven't done this so far this year) . . . here's the current rundown of 4 analytics projections in terms of who projects to win the title. I used to include 6 sources, but 538 bailed on sports coverage so their two are gone.

ESPN - Basketball Reference - PowerRrankingsGuru - PlayoffStatus - Average

Code:
BOS 27.5 40.8 37 26 32.8
LAC 19.7 05.3 12 6 10.8
OKC 02.8 20.2 8 11 10.5
PHI 08.3 12.9 10 7 9.6
MIN 05.1 8.00 5 16 8.5
DEN 08.1 4.00 9 9 7.5
MIL 10.5 1.20 7 7 6.4
CLE 09.2 2.10 5 3 4.8
NOP 01.8 2.30 2 2 2.0
NYK 00.6 2.00 1 4 1.9

After the last few years, all the love for Boston has been unfounded. I listed all the teams that averaged a 1% chance, so GSW, PHO, and LAL couldn't even get on that list. ESPN has ALWAYS loved the Clippers for some reason. The Cavs would not have made this list a couple of weeks ago.

This writer / article gives Sengun an All-Star spot.

Unfounded love for the Celtics? Because they lost in the finals and conference finals?

How far did you have to dig to find that article?
I didn't dig at all. It popped up on my news feed . . . but I get links to sports articles all the time. Read the article and thought about the Sengun stuff from the other day and posted the link here.

Over the course of the past three seasons, the Celtics have been the clear favorite to win the title on the geeky stat analytics sites each year. There were times they were over 50% to win the title in the regular season (ie, the entire rest of the league combined stood less chance to win). In the post season each year, they again were huge favorites to win (essentially based on regular season statistics and differentials). IIRC, they were said to have a 90% chance to beat the Warriors in the finals a couple of years ago. My overall point with regard to Boston was, I'll believe they'll win after they actually win. Not really a knock on them or the number crunchers, other than their probabilities haven't really been all that reliable.
