Shocked that’s all Our Buckos needed to give up for Lillard. I think it’s a good deal for Portland, especially when you factor in whatever they can get for Jrue. No idea why the Suns did this.

Ayton is soft, plus with scorers like Durant and Booker, they need someone tough like Nurkic who hustles, not Ayton who doesn't, plus Allen provides the floor being spread with his 3-pt shot.

The East just got that much more interesting…Dame is a huge addition but as a Celtics fan I am glad to see Jrue gone as he kills them…although I guess he could still end up back in the East so better hold off on that.

It is a great deal for Portland. They have souch flexibility right now. They can tread water and see where things end up, they could move some of these assets for another good player and try to contend, they could go full tank and move Jrue this year for some decent pieces and maybe move Ayton in a year or two if his play improves and heis contract gets closer to the end.

I understand why the Bucks made the move, but I am not confident it works as well in game as it does on paper. Jrue was so versatile, defensively and his ability to without the ball. Lillard doesn't do that and we don't know if Middleton can.

Bowie, Oden, Ayton

Congrats Blazers 🏆

Absolutely THRILLED Ayton is finally out of town. And get to stop hearing how great he is from people that don't regularly (or at all) watch him play.

Dame to the Bucks.
Woohoo as a Bucks fan! I appreciate everything Holiday has done but to get a talent like Dame its so worth taking a shot.
I'm not totally sure this makes the Bucks better. They are swapping one of the best defensive guards in the league for one of the worst. Lillard also has sat out a lot of games the last few years, though some of those were certainly related to the Blazers tanking. Giannis wanted this though so the Bucks had to do it.

Just noticed that Shams originally tweeted out Lillard was traded to Toronto. Wonder if it was just a mistake or if that really was close to happening and things shifted last minute.

I guess Miami did't want to throw all their picks and young guys and Herro into the deal? This seems like a pretty mediocre return for Dame

I for one look forward the Defense Optional system Portland will run this year. Gonna be fun!
They were 27th in DRtg last season... They upgraded defensively at two positions. I think they did this with the intent to keep Jrue at least until close to the trade deadline. I think he may start at SF for them...

Well, why did they draft him and give him a giant contract then?

When they drafted him everyone was shocked. They needed a point guard, Luka was there, they hired Luka's coach and at the last minute Server made them take Ayton because they both went to Arizona. The resigning was just as crazy, Monte wanted him gone, they didn't want to max him, teams like the Pistons and Pacers were willing to sign and trade for him and then they just matched the Pacers offer because he was a RFA. I am guessing it was Saver again.

Hoping he'd be the modern day David Robinson and not play with the effort and softness of a late career Robert Parrish.

One of the worst contracts in the league. So so happy he's out of town and got some rotation pieces for him.

Well, if you found frustration with Ayton, I just can't wait for your review of Nurk after the season is over. :lmao:

I still don't know how Miami couldn't get this done.

I've got to imagine Portlands got another deal in the works so can't grade their return yet. (Even if I thank you for taking Ayton) Can't imagine them having all of Jrue/Simons/Sharpe/Scoot for too long

As a Bucks fans the hope is what Dame adds offensively has a great impact that what Jrue's loss will be on defense. Absolutely love Jrue but the Bucks needed more shooters and Dame is one of the best in the game. This team has had 2 disappointing playoff exits after 2021 so I don't mind them shaking things up and that they did. If it makes Giannis happy that's even better.

Giannis could learn how to shoot....

Thinking Jrue to Lakers or 76ers

Heat were +1000 to win the championship before the trade, now +3000

I don't think 2022 was a bad or disappointing exit at all. Down one of your best players and you lost in 7 to the eastern conference champs.

Jimmy Butler is already on TikTok indicating that the NBA needs to look into the Bucks for tampering. He is not naming names, but alludes that he "heard it from someone."

It might be just sour grapes, but who knows....
What does tampering mean in the context of a trade?
its a fancier way of saying i am butthurt take that to the bank brohan

I don't think Ayton is great, but we should give this a chance. A change of scenery might help.
Good luck to Blazers paying him $34m/yr he's owed the next 3 seasons. I've seen every game he's played (the majority in person) and his lack of effort is astounding. The whole world finally got to see it (again) with JOCK LANDALE outplaying him last playoffs.

When the going gets tough, Ayton pouts. I wish Portland all the best with him. I think he's perfect player for a bad team where there's no expectations and he can lollygag around the court. Just ignore he's giving this effort while making $34m/yr.....

He's too busy complaining on Twitter how much it costs to fill up his Bugati.

We get it you are happy he is gone, but maybe this turns into an Oladipo for George trade. Oladipo left the Magic and Thunder went home and turned his career around before the injuries. It isn't a guarantee, but there is a chance he is happier in Portland and turns it around.

I don't think Ayton's contract will be too much of a problem for Portland. His deal will expire right as Scoot & Shaedon's extensions kick in. The effort issues have been well documented, but this guy was an important contributor to a Finals team just two years ago - not a bad reclamation project.

I know the Spurs are in a full-on youth movement, but for a year or two Jrue would be a solid bridge to their future PG (whoever that is), and they've got a stack of assets to deal from.

I wish I felt the same but I don't. The Heat had injuries too and the Bucks blew multiple 4th quarter leads that series. The Heat, especially Butler played well but as the #1 seed it's disappointing losing a 1st round series 4-1.
