Boston's starting 5 of Derrick White, Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis are averaging 98.5 point per game combined. Anyone able to figure out what starting lineup that played a significant number of minutes together averaged the most? Because that 98.5 seems like a lot. I looked at some Steph/KD Warriors and Showtime Lakers and Jordan Bulls but can't find any starting lineup that scored that much
Love questions like this. I came so close with the 71-72 Lakers that went 69-13. Gail Goodrich, Jerry West, Jim McMillian, Wilt and Happy Hairston combined for 98.4.

I'll keep looking.

What about one of the Westhead Nuggets teams?

ok here is a new one you have to take your teams historical top five scorers without repeating a person so for the bucks it is kareem at 34 giannis at 31 micahel redd at 26 marques johnson at 25 and dame at 25 for a total of 141 what to you brohans got take that to the bank bromigos

Boston would be:
Tatum (22-23) - 30.1
Bird (87-88) - 29.9
Thomas (16-17) - 28.9
Havlicek (70-71) - 28.9
Pierce (05-06) - 26.8

Total of 144.6

  • Ice Man - 33.1 (79-80)
  • The Admiral - 29.8 (93-94)
  • Duncan - 25.5 (01-02)
  • Kawhi - 25.5 (16-17)
  • Cummings - 22.9 (89-90) Lemarcus - 23.1 (17-18)

Are you saying 5 players who led the team in scoring -- take their ppg the year they led the team -- and no player repeats?

Sixers:

Embiid: 35.1
Wilt: 33.1
Iverson: 33
Barkley: 28.3
Dr. J: 26.9

156.4

I am just assuming Barkley and Dr. J are the next 2. Basketball Reference only shows top 10 easily.

you got it leroy some of your historical teams are going to crush this i cant wait to see the lakers take that to the bank brochachos

surprises me but not that much that this is not higher the lakers always had good players but spread the ball around so much that maybe they never had a 31 point guy take that to the bank bromigos

Warriors probably win this as having Wilt's record setting season helps a bit:
Wilt (61-62) - 50.4
Barry (66-67) - 35.6
Curry (20-21) - 32.0
Purvis Short (84-85) - 28.0
Mullin (88-89) - 26.5

Total 172.5
three guys well over 30 helps a lot take that to the bank brochacho

Lakers probably come in second:

Baylor (61-62) - 38.3
Bryant (05-06) - 35.4
West (65-66) - 31.3
James (21-22) - 30.3
O'Neal (99-00) - 29.7

Total = 165.0

You were correct. Cunningham (Kangaroo Kid!) comes in 6th at 26.1 which is currently tied with Maxey this season.

Rockets are sneaky good (thanks to Harden who has 5 of their top 6 seasons):

Harden (18-19) - 36.1
Malone (81-82) - 31.1
Hayes (70-71) - 28.7
Olajuwon (94-95) - 27.8
Westbrook (93-94) - 27.3

Total - 151.0

Hal Greer was not too far behnd with a 24.1 season.

Even the Utah Jazz have a better total than Boston:
Maravich (76-77) - 31.1
Malone (89-90) - 31.0
Dantley (80-81) - 30.7
Mitchell (20-21) - 26.4
Markkanen (22-23) - 25.6

Total of 144.8

knicks are pretty pukey in this with bob macadoo leading them at 26 points bernard king at 26 carmelo at 24 brunson lol at 4th with 24 and the ewing at 22 for a total of 122 knicks and dolan stink the bag historically take that to the bank brohans

Grizzlies likely in last place, especially if you don't count Bane and JJJ's current season (both in their top 10 all-time):
Morant (21-22) - 27.4
Abdur-Rahim (98-99) - 23.0
Bane (22-23) - 21.5
Conley (18-19) - 21.1
Gasol (06-07) - 20.8

Total of 113.8

Ja Morant has their only 2 seasons over 25 ppg.

Wizards/Bullets (Bellamy, Beal, Arenas, King, Monroe) - 146.4

Hawks (Pettit, Wilkins, Young, Maravich, Hudson) - 146.2

The first team that came to mind for me was Charlotte, but they have a few more points - Glen Rice 26.8, Kemba Walker 25.6, Kelly Tripucka 22.6, Larry Johnson 22.1, Al Jefferson 21.8 = 118.9

I'll be super impressed if anyone can guess the 5 guys that make up the Pistons. Their total is 137.0
Without looking, I'm gonna guess Jerry Stackhouse, George Yardley, Bob Lanier, Dave Bing and Kelly Tripucka.
Holy crap I was really close. Grant Hill beat by Bob Lanier by a 10th of a point, otherwise I had it.

ETA: Surprised Hill slipped my mind because I watched a ton of Pistons games while he was there. But if I thought of him I would've guessed him over Tripucka, not Lanier, and been more wrong.

Siakam to Indy for Bruce Brown and three 1st round picks

Looks like a nice trade for the Pacers (assuming they know he will sign with them)
It's a big bet on Siakam. I'm assuming he's gung-ho about re-signing because the Pacers are giving him a full max or close to it, which would be 5 years/~$250m.
Yeah, that would be a bad move but it’s a pretty good trade since 2 of the picks are this year and will both be pick 18 or worse (assuming Halliburton comes back fully healthy). If they could keep it closer to 40 mill per year, that would be ideal.

If the Twolves don't pull away from the Pistons and win by at least 15 can we declare their run over?

The last team that lost to the Pistons that wasn't also tanking was the Raptors and they traded their two best players shortly after.

Unlike prior years (under the prior coach), the Bucks are uncompetitive when Giannis sits. No one else on the roster steps up. Down by 40 points in Cleveland after 3 quarters.

Celtics are now 20-0 on the season at home. Which is keeping pace with the best records of all time 40-1. Which strangely enough are the two franchises that played this evening. 1986 Celtics and 2016 Spurs

Before I look, the Wolves might end up with the lowest total in this game. Let's see!

Kevin Love (13-14): 26.1
KAT (16-17): 25.1
Ant (22-23): 24.6
KG (03-04): 24.2
Wiggins (16-17): 23.6

TOTAL: 123.6 - better than I expected. Next up would be the immortal Tony Campbell at 23.2ppg in their first season (89-90).

The 86 Celtics went 10-0 at home in the post season to win the title. The 16 Spurs went 3-2 at home in the playoffs and ended up losing to OKC.
