The rules very clearly do not allow much for defenses to do, and refs call a hell ton of fouls. It is what it is.

we dont need whatever in the hell brand of quote basketball endquote the pistons were before jordan but we could use giving players back the ability to put some contact into a player and guide thier movement so long as it isnt with reaching or overly aggressive right now you cant even bump a cutter without it being called and thats not good basketball the other thing i would so is to make it an immediate penalty when a player starts whining about a call that stuff really ruins the game and sets a terrible example for youth players take that to the bank brohans

For the stars. Embiid and Giannis are getting more free throws per game than anybody else going back to 2007. Shai is getting 9-10 per game. That’s what peak Lebron was getting. You have 4 players averaging over 10 per game. 2007 you had none.

Avg points in 2006 was a 192 a game. Now it’s 230. I don’t want to go back to caveman ball from 1994-2009 or whatever but maybe there’s a happy medium in there.And the pace is higher than average.

"When at least two of Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, Payton Pritchard or Sam Hauser are on the floor, Boston is +10.0 points per 100 possessions."
That's crazy that they've played that well with even just two of those guys on the court together.

Yeah I mean there's a difference between FT/game and fouls being called. You're missing the point if that's what you look at.
You should be looking for drives/game and fouls/drive. Then look at fouls outside of ~15 ft too.
And think about things like fouls/2pt shot attempt and fouls/paint attempt and fouls/3pt attempt.
If I had to guess:
1. Fouls/3pt are WAY lower than fouls/2pt and obviously fouls/paint attempt
2. 3 pt/game is WAY higher than it used to be
3. Fouls/2pt and fouls/3pt are both higher rates than they used to be
4. Therefore you're seeing less FT/game but more FT/shot at each shot type - it's a mix effect
I could be wrong. But that's at least a sensible hypothesis.

Embiid definitely hurt his knee the other night. I honestly don’t think that he is ducking, but really weird that he wasn’t in the injury report and then suddenly is out right before the game.

He has only played 2 games in Denver his whole career. He must not like the high altitude. Just such a bad look for the NBA. I so hope he misses the games necessary not to qualify for the MVP award. At least some of the ESPN announcers called him out.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the sixers catch a huge fine for this. Not a good look for the NBA, the Sixers, or Embiid.

I am aware of the history with Denver and I am aware of the narrative. I would have to see the full list of games he has missed over the last 4 years to feel more strongly about it. He has a lot of injuries just in general, so I still don’t think that it can be concluded that he is ducking, he is perfectly capable of just sulking around the court when better teams are beating him.

This narrative is so funny. I mean do people really think Embiid is scared to play in some games?and if they do, is there any other player in the NBA scared to play games or this is all just the MVP of the league is the only one scared to play other teams.
Just is funny talk. Embiid gets crapped on for not getting out of 2nd round in playoffs, and at the same time gets crapped on for taking care of his body so he can be healthy for the playoffs

I don't think he's scared, I think some combination of the organization and Embiid personally are curating his schedule to avoid some difficult matchups.
Regarding the Nuggets specifically, yesterday sure felt like he was ducking the Nuggets. He wasn't on the injury report, he warmed up, then didn't come out with the team for pregame - then sat in the locker room until 5:50 left in the game then he comes out to sit on the bench.
Last season he 100%, unequivocally dodged the Nuggets in Denver to avoid a game which could have "lost" him the MVP. He played the 13 games before the Nuggets and the 5 after, but missed the game in Denver.

He was out for warmups and the doctor didn’t like how he was moving with his knee hurt the other day. Denver isn’t a great place to play when hurt with the altitude.
