Jazz send Simone Fontecchio to the Pistons for a 2nd rounder (most favorable of Washington/Memphis). That's a pretty good pick, but a little surprised that Utah would give him up considering they have no one else who resembles a 3. Not a bad deal for Detroit.
detroit going for it! fontecchio a great way to keep ausar glued to the bench.Jazz send Simone Fontecchio to the Pistons for a 2nd rounder (most favorable of Washington/Memphis). He'll eat up some of Brisset's and some of Kornet's minutes as a wing/big man hybrid. He's been terrible offensively this season, but seems to be a plus defender.Xavier Tillman to Boston for two 2nd round picks. Like that move for the Celtics
The entire Memphis team, minus Desmond Bane, has been terrible offensively this year. He'll eat up some of Brisset's and some of Kornet's minutes as a wing/big man hybrid. @Frostillicus !!!!!The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a deal to send guard Monte Morris to the Minnesota Timberwolves, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.
Nice little trade for them. Don't give up much and have something of a secondary choice next off-season if Conley is too expensive.Timberwolves are sending Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and one second-round pick to Detroit for Monte Morris, sources said.

Getting his restricted rights is a plus, not a minus. I wouldn’t call him a lotto ticket either. He’s been part of Utah’s 2 most successful lineups this year, including the one that has played the most minutes. Much much better than troy’s usual reclamation center fetish.Jazz send Simone Fontecchio to the Pistons for a 2nd rounder (most favorable of Washington/Memphis). He is 28 and a RFA at the end of the year. Seems like a bad move giving up a cheap, young lotto ticket for a more expensive older lotto ticket.
Plus the Jazz always seem to make great trades. I have little faith that the Pistons front office got them on one.
Agreed. Brown and Milton are decent end of rotation contributors for the regular season, but would not be playoff players, which Morris has a better chance of being. So just giving up that and a 2030 2nd seems like a no brainer.Nice little trade for them. He had some nice offensive moments last year and if the celtics needed anything, it was another rotation big man, so Tillman will fill that role nicely. The rich get richer. The entire Memphis team, minus Desmond Bane, has been terrible offensively this year. He'll eat up some of Brisset's and some of Kornet's minutes as a wing/big man hybrid. What lottery ticket did the Pistons get?Timberwolves are sending Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and one second-round pick to Detroit for Monte Morris, sources said.
This is a win/win Pistons have no use for Monte long term and get a lottery ticket and two players that have club options next season. Wolves got a decent and cheap back up PG that has playoff experience.
the pistons gave up their 2nd in the fontecchio deal, much better ticket than a late 2nd from minny. pistons getting bench players, now they need a starting 5.What lottery ticket did the Pistons get?Timberwolves are sending Shake Milton, Troy Brown Jr. and one second-round pick to Detroit for Monte Morris, sources said.

He has imploded this season. How bad does Jordan Poole have to be in order to be benched?

It is fair to give Utah front off the benefit of the doubt, but I still think this will help Detroit.
I disagree - the Pistons are going to have to start paying their young players pretty soon, so need to stop going after lottery tickets and start adding real NBA players who can complement the young guys to form a real NBA team. If the young guys you have at this point (plus the top 5 pick in the draft and whatever they sign this offseason) don't wind up being good enough to form the core of a contending team, they're pretty much screwed and will need to tear the whole thing down again and start over.Getting his restricted rights is a plus, not a minus. My point is he is better than your average 2nd round pick, but he also doesn't have the upside of a rookie coming in. The Pistons aren't in a position to trade for those type of players. Plus in this case being an RFA is bad because a 2nd round pick has a rookie contract, then an RFA.
This is the type of move a team competing for a title that is against the cap should make, not a team that has like 60 million in cap space and is the doormat of the league.
I'm not sure that the tanking wizards see his badness as a bug.How bad does Jordan Poole have to be in order to be benched?
agreed. they've basically been the worst team in the league for the last 4 years. if they are still banking on 2nd-round picks as being the savior, then they might as well just trade everyone. they need to give Cade a better ecosystem to see if he can really be the guy. the FA class this year is not that inspiring and they are not at the top of anyone's list, so I wouldn't be expecting them to create a major improvement that way. Getting the inside track on a guy who honestly may be one of the better free agents on the board seems smart.I disagree - the Pistons are going to have to start paying their young players pretty soon, so need to stop going after lottery tickets and start adding real NBA players who can complement the young guys to form a real NBA team. The Pistons are already screwed. There’s no thing to even tear down. They have 4 mildly interesting prospects and that’s it. If they pay those guys and try to build a real NBA team out of this mess, they’ll end up stuck in the cycle of mediocrity, at best.I disagree - the Pistons are going to have to start paying their young players pretty soon, so need to stop going after lottery tickets and start adding real NBA players who can complement the young guys to form a real NBA team. if they don't re-sign him (unless they somehow do something else amazing with their space or somebody gives him some insane offer), then I will definitely criticize the move. for now, i think that it is a smart bet.
Come on the GD Magic couldn’t top this??? They don’t even use their second round picks. They sold one last year for cash. The Indiana Pacers are trading Buddy Hield to the 76ers for Marcus Morris, Furkan Korkmaz and three second-round picks, sources tell ESPN.
Presumably, Ivey and Duren, but they have another year to figure that out.I disagree - the Pistons are going to have to start paying their young players pretty soon, so need to stop going after lottery tickets and start adding real NBA players who can complement the young guys to form a real NBA team. Who should they pay other than Cade?
At this point, I'm pretty sure that ownership would be thrilled with getting up to the cycle of mediocrity and start selling tickets againThe Pistons are already screwed. The upside is that tanking is a very viable NBA strategy. Fire Weaver, admit this decade is a lost cause, and you’ve actually got an attractive blank slate for a competent GM. But I doubt they do that. They’ll let Weaver try to salvage the mess he’s made and that will probably set them back another decade.
Knd of a low barHaving him in Philly would have been a dream come true.

This is a pretty nice deal for the NYK. I will give up 2s all day long. Grimey is a nice piece, but replaceable. Essentially, McBride is already Grimes. Burks and Bog have no long term commitment and i think Bog has a 24-25 contract with only $2mm guaranteed. Both can shoot and Bog is a big body, which the NYK need. Especially now since everyone is dead.NYK acquiring Burks and Bogjanovic for Fournier, Grimey, Flynn and a pair of 2s.
EDIT: NYK also unloading Arcidiacono
