2023 Las Vegas Raiders - RIP Jack - one of the greatest Super Bowl moments ever (1 Viewer)

Tell you what, IF AOC can become the Raiders' Brock Purdy, they would be in very good shape roster/cap/draft-wise this offseason. They currently have $53 MM in cap space heading into 2024. And here are several names that could be cut to free up more:

Grop: $13 MM
Renfrow: $12 MM
Tillery: $4 MM
Facyson: $3 MM

Total freed: $32 MM

This would include keeping Devante for 2024. They would need to allocate some of the $53 + 32 = $85 MM in cap to resign or replace Jacobs and Andre James, who are both on expiring contracts, but the rest could be well spent to refortify the OL and DEF with some good drafting and FA signings.
They have $50 million in dead money right now that goes down to $12 million next year.

Yeah, my [Spotrac] figures do account for that. That $12 MM dead cap figure would go way up with the suggested cuts, but more importantly, they would free up cap space at the same time because the dead cap would be a lot less than the inflated contracts that would be eliminated.

I didn't mean to suggest that it would be in addition but just pointing out how much cap space will be cleared simply with dead money coming off the books.

If they can contain Breece Hall, they have a great shot at winning that game. The Oline will have their hands full with that front 7 too. They’re going to have to have a good game plan to get the ball outta AOC’s hands quick.
The Jets will be a good measuring stick for the Raiders O. Win or lose, we need to see the team play hard and see good decisions by the coaching staff as we look towards the future. It’s really easy to like AP and root for him but he needs to turn the culture around. There is hope again just as there’s was after Gruden. It’s hard being a Raider fan. We have been through a lot of struggles in the last 20 years and the last 4 have been brutal.

Amen… Going into the season with lots of questions on the defense (as always) and probably one of the worst plans at QB I’ve ever seen, there was really nothing to get excited about for 2023. We were left to “trust the process “. I don’t know how anyone thought this team was set up to win this year. McD thought he had more time to build out the roster. There was no sense of urgency to win this year.
Drafting an injured player 7th overall and passing on an elite DL to do so is considered in “win now mode”?
No returning QBs on the roster, not even Stidham??? Made no sense at all. They almost didn’t even have Jimmy (hindsight 20/20 that would’ve been a good thing)
Point being, McD had everyone duped. From Davis to Davante and every fan. He scammed us all. This is one of those rare times in sports where a player revolt was actually a good thing for a team. It actually might have woke Davis up. Only good will come from this.

Josh McDaniels is a clueless chump who rode Brady and Belichicks' coat and fleeced Mork out of tens of millions of dollars and Jalen Carter. He had no plan at all once his plans to sign his old horse and/or trade the farm for tiny bust Bryce udderlessly failed. Best move Mork ever made was not giving that loser one more moment to spill even more of his milk.

So Kolton Miller didnt practice today (shoulder) , i wonder if its worse than they are letting on . The Raiders signed TE Jesse James . Both the Lions and Bears primarily deployed James as an inline TE, and in a blocking capacity he does offer something to the Browns. In pass protection, James has proven to be aware and capable of steering an edge rusher around the outside.

AOC looks better than Brice, just sayin

Wanted nothing to do with Brice and completely agree that AOC looks like the better prospect by a decent margin thus far. Grudock left us with Maxx and Jacobs as parting gifts. Maybe McZeig left us with a franchise QB in AOC and an alpha WR to help him grow with Devante.
Many of us wanted nothing to do with Bryce. He may still develop into a starting QB but it’s not looking very good so far.

Now C. J Stroud on the other hand .....

I’m falling in love…

if I’m going to really let myself dream and be positive, I'm seeing the next Mike Tomlin. Fingers and toes crossed that he can really get this team to win and play well so he can be our long term solution.

Everything about AP just exudes natural leader, especially of modern young pros. He has that natural swag, but also seems plenty knowledgeable, intelligent and organized. Or at least, we shall see about the latter, but the alpha energy is undeniable.

All great coaches come from somewhere , he could be another great one .

Traded for Devante last night on my primary league team, which also has Jacobs. His owner wanted out after the last five weeks of sucktitude and I decided to double down on coach AP. Let's GO!

Interesting side note... Jacobs has just two 20+ pt fantasy games so far this season. Both of them came with AOC as the starting QB. 💥
I remember making a comment pages back after Jacobs had that great game with AOC `s first start and how it wasnt just a coincidence .How can fans of the team see this and McGoofy refused to see it? Thats why hes gone ...so inept

Nesta Jade got a bunch of work with the new staff.

Renfrow actually played less snaps. I have a feeling that was just because of the way the last game went, unless Austin Hooper is part of Pierce's big plan, which I doubt.

Eh, there were plenty of fans here and elsewhere that were blaming Jacobs and his holdout to a large degree. It was painfully obvious to me from go that the blocking was atrocious compared to last year. The coach, system and OL were all the same - and Jacobs looked fine to my eye. The only real change was the noodle arm taking the snaps.

OL were all the same
OL may have been the same but they were NOT performing like it. Marked improvement recently. Not sure if that's McDonkey or a fire being lit under someone's behind with the change but Jacobs was getting crushed many times at/behind the line and that wasn't about the QB.

bad coaching can account for a lot of what we've been seeing. mcdonkey thinks he's belichick and he's not. even bill never won with that coaching style without tom brady at qb.
