2023 Las Vegas Raiders - RIP Jack - one of the greatest Super Bowl moments ever (3 Viewers)

They are so hard to watch for the entire game , all i do is shake my head and mumble ''what the F are they doing''?
This x10000000

I think I prefer when I have family obligations that keep me away from watching the game. It’s so frustrating to actually watch their games.

Someone remind the offense that they have this dude named Davante Adams on their team. I hear he’s a game changer.

I can see why you guys are so frustrated...they should have kept throwing to Mayer but instead they ran it like an old school offense...never mind Adams is out there with a backup CB on him.

To be fair, there is a lot of ugly football being played right now (especially on offense). Not just in Vegas. They’re winning in spite of themselves, with a backup QB.
In the offseason many said if Hoyer were playing, the season would be over. Well, it’s far from over, and a case can be made that the offense seems to run smoother when Garopollo is out. When the longest pass play of the season is thrown by the 38 year old back up, something just isn’t right with your starter.

Jimmy does look to be struggling. It’s a crazy season and the AFC is full of good but not great teams. Of course, everything will probably go through KC since Mahomes is Mahomes.

Bring on AOC. This team is going nowhere with Grop or Hoyer. Need to see if this rookie has something worth committing to heading into a super deep QB draft. AOC is the only one of the three with any hint of legit upside this season, and if he flops, oh well - better draft pick for his replacement.

I would be willing to bet O'Connell will get the start. My thinking here is that McD doesn't want him to be the backup on limited or no snaps through the week while Hoyer, because he knows the system so well, can be thrown in with little preparation and thus is the backup.

I think the week before when O'Connell started, they got about half and half snaps through the early part of the week. I wouldn't be surprised to see this again and let O'Connell win the opportunity.

The offense opened up more with Hoyer. It is amazing what can happen when you throw the ball further than 10 yards down the field.

I have yet to see anything this year from Jimmy G that would make sense to keep him as the starter. I don't wish him ill will by any means but based on his history and he went to the hospital... I wouldn't be surprised that he is out of the year. Even if he happens to be ok.... O'Connell needs to take the leadership from here.

Jacobs isn't going to be able to run with Jimmy G not throwing past the 10 yard markers all game long.

To parrot what others have said, man, the Raider offense is a tough watch. Lot of head-scratching play calling and game management decisions. Jimmy G looks like he has happy-feet, likely due to the constant pressure he is feeling. But he also seems to be missile-locked on Meyers, wasting Adam's talent. Like others, I hope they go AOC as the starter moving forward.

A couple of other things I hope for:
  1. McD gives up play-calling to focus on game management. I am hoping the play-calling would be more dynamic with a change in play-callers.
  2. Raiders package Tyree and their 2nd rd pick for Chase Young. The Commodes might do this because they get a player with potential and a higher draft pick if they lose Young in the offseason. Young does some bonehead stuff but he offers an immediate upgrade in pressuring the QB.

The rumors have been that the Raiders have been calling around looking for a pass rusher to trade for with a player to player trade. There has to be only one player that they are shopping and that is Renfrow.

I can't understand why he isn't a part of this offense. I thought for sure that with the history of NE using several different slot WR's to great success that Renfrow would flourish. He seems to have been forgotten. No.... it would be better to say ignored. The NE game he was in for 7 offensive snaps. 10% of the offensive plays. A guy that has caught 100+ balls in a season and is making the third highest salary on the team. I don't understand it.

So.... if we aren't going to use him and we can trade for a pass rusher then sure, let's do it. A post june 1st trade frees up $11mm.... but there you go in the explanation of why it is unlikely we get that trade. There are only 7 teams with enough cap space to fit that contract in and we are one of those 7. Plus, is there any team really hurting for a slot WR where it would be a game changer for them AND have a pass rusher to let go?

Actually, a trading team would be on the hook only for the prorated amount remaining of his $6.5 MM base salary this season. None of his contract next year is guaranteed, so that team could cut him if things don't work out and/or renegotiate his $11 MM 2024 salary. As of now, that figure is essentially meaningless.

Hoyer is a stop gap, i want AOC
If they were 1-5 or 2-4 I’d agree. I think they should go with Hoyer at least for next week with AOC as the backup. The way he pushed the ball down the field was promising. Plus, I like Super Trooper but I’m not sure he’s ready yet. I’m not kidding myself, I know they aren’t a playoff team but they are in middle of the weakest part of the schedule, let’s see if Hoyer can keep them relevant.

Let's say Hoyer keeps them afloat during the weak stretch. Do you see him or a returning Grop leading this team to victories against the better teams? I see no chance there.

With AOC, there is at least the possibility for upside later, but he needs the game reps against this stretch of pansy teams. And if he flops, so be it, better draft pick for his replacement.

Grop/Hoyer is like purgatory. Maybe they give a better chance against chumps. Maybe. But they give zero chance against champs, and by year end all we'd be left with are unanswered questions about AOC and a lesser draft pick to prematurely answer them.

You see no chance (and I might agree) but the important part is what McD sees and thinks. I’d imagine the fact that they brought him in as the starter means they absolutely 100% believe that he is the best chance for raiders to win. So we can just complain to ourselves in this little message board while they ignore our insights for some reason ;)

I just see other teams playing their rookie QBs and think ''why not us'' ?

McD is a chicken **** coach, he would never not take the safe road . Look at the calls on the field , awful .

This… McD is going to play the QB who he thinks gives them the best chance to win. I think it’ll be Hoyer but if it’s AOC, great! At this point, if you’d ask Davante he’d probably say anyone but Garopollo so who knows. Hoyer just seems like the logical choice in my opinion.

Agreed, but I was responding to @Bruno2 (for ****s and giggles and tears), not Ronny McDonalds.

He (Bruno2) was calling for Hoyer over AOC.

Playoffs is a completely realistic goal for this team.

The teams with good QBs, good Ds, and/or good running games will make the playoffs. Most of them with two of the three, and some of them with all three. Same as it ever was. Bring on AOC ASAP.
That's who wins the Super Bowl. Flawed teams make the playoffs every year.

Week 6, the team is 3-3, good enough for 2nd place in EVERY division, we just beat a team with Hoyer at QB. We are a month away from AOC talk. This is madness.

If this team goes 10-7, and loses in the first round? Sign me up.

Only reason not to start AOC is the still highly suspect OL. That is a very legit concern that I can buy. 10-7 and a first round loss isn't worth seeing what AOC could do in the regular season against **** teams first, then good teams.

I have seen enough of Grop (well before this year) to know he's an utter waste of opportinity for growth when you have an upside guy quietly waiting his turn.

Grop is nothing more than a bridge QB and that bridge is burning. Both AOC and Hoyer played better than him in their limited action.

Per Dianna Russini, the Raiders are actively trying to trade Renfrow prior to the trade deadline.
He can 100% help a team in need and I’ll root for him 1000000% except when he plays the Raiders (and my newly adopted Other Favorite Team, the Lions…trying to convince myself on this one. Help me out ;) )

The Lions have become my second favorite team but I am enjoying Houston a lot this season. Hard to believe how fast they turned the ship around once they just tore it down and started over. Either team would be great for the Raiders to mimic.

It is to me, and man oh man, are we making a lot of some preseason action.

I thought he looked good (not great) for a rook in his first NFL game against a division foe and terrorist former Raider, with an inept coaching staff, unable to adjust the blocking whatsoever to help him.

That wasn't the All-Pro preseason we saw, but so far at least, he's done the best you could hope for in each situation for a rookie.

My understanding was he only really practiced with the 1st unit a couple of days , so he wasnt really prepared , maybe they dont make that mistake again?

Any of you guys watching the rest of the NFL? Everyone sucks.

Teams look different at the beginning and end of the year. Playoffs is a completely realistic goal for this team.
this is so true. these games are ugly. other than miami and san fran. and they've had off games was well. is it the lack of preseason play by the starters? this is some ugly football being played in the most offensive friendly environment the NFL has ever had.

this is so true. these games are ugly
I think a lot of teams have holes, and depth is being tested. The thing that doesn't cost money is system, consistency. If teams were selling out short because of Jimmy G, and AOC is better, I'm in. But if we need a new OG, maybe that's the ticket. There is some ugly Twitter video from our pass pro.

The way this season has gone, I am OK with the Jimmy G signing. So many teams sold out for QB lately, and it cost MOST off them.

We held serve with Jimmy G. We can be in the QB market next year. And less teams will be in it. We may not even need to trade up.

Tell you what, if AOC is good, that's five more years of McDaniels.
