Plus QBs wear the red “don’t touch me” jersey all offseason until week one. It’s a whole heck of a lot easier playing QB knowing you won’t get hit. When the “gloves come off” I think there’s QBs out there that are having a hard time adjusting.
And injuries and concussions seem to be on the rise even though the NFL tries to takes steps to increase player safety. These guys are just too big and fast these days. And not being able to target the head area anymore has lead to a lot more lower body injuries, so depth is being tested by every team right now. For example, has anyone seen Nate Hobbs lately?

I don't think this conclusion has any certainty, but if it proves to be true, I'd take it. Not looking for perfection. Looking for hope. Looking for improvement. If McD can provide those latter two, then I don't have a problem with giving him more time to build momentum. I need to see evidence that he can do that though, and three tight victories against **** teams isn't enough.

Remaining schedule has a lot to work with in terms of grooming and assessing a rookie QB for the future. If in doing so, they sacrifice this season, it's still worth it to better figure out what they actually have in AOC. Only KC and Det are in the top half of D's in terms of fantasy points conceded to QBs. That's not a perfect indicator by any means - NYJ, e.g., may be a worse matchup than both right now - but it does show that there's enough meat on the bone to see if AOC is capable of eating.

A lot more ingenuity and playcalling with a lot of YAC guys that you can get the ball quickly to within that 10 yards and they break it long. In SF, they built it offense to be all about the running game and short passing game. This isn't the same offense and we don't have guys that are YAC studs. We have plenty of offensive talent but that isn't what they do.

I kept saying it but got boo'd by many... Jimmy G has been one of the luckiest QB's in NFL history. Up until now, he has been on good teams with one of the better defenses in the league, good Olines and no lack of offensive weapon talent.

I would go further.... if he wasn't a Patriot before AND his next stop wasn't in SF where the team carried him, he would not be signed by us. He was signed because he has familiarity with the system and because SF could still consistently win when he was at QB.

Hoyer, freaking Hoyer, looked better at QB than Jimmy G has all season.

The smart play this week is to give O'Connell all the practice snaps, have Hoyer as backup and rest Jimmy G. See how O'Connell does. Hopefully he impresses then you have a question to answer. If he doesn't then I think by default, Jimmy G comes back to start (until he gets hurt again).

Our offense hasn't been this ineffective in a very long time. It is odd that our defense is actually starting to play decently well. Maxx, of course, is a beast but some players have improved. Moehrig has been playing much closer to his draft expectations this year. Spillane has been playing well. Robertson has been a little up and down but he has stepped up. We even got a little bit of push from the middle last game with Jenkins and Butler getting sacks with Nichols getting in on half a one with Crosby. We still need more talent (or guys to improve) to get to what I would call a good defense but they have been playing better than we have had a defense play in.... what.... 20 years? If we had this defense with last years offense (even if it was not one of the better offenses we have had in recent years) that would be a lot of wins.

Jimmy's contract is a no brainer to get out of at this point, because dude is a complete waste of (cap and otherwise) space, and well, the dead money is spilled milk. The choices for a new qb were slim. They let stidham walk and other than being brittle and not having the best deep ball Jimmy g made sense. Saved the team some money and brought a total dreamboat to Vegas.

Would we the fans have excepted a carson Wentz/Matt Ryan? Begrudgingly. Same with AOC. But with a little more excitement. I think russel wilson is one of the only late round qbs to start by winning the job in training camp.

This season has always been a 6-9 win season. Regardless of who’s at qb. Me. Tom Brady. Mahomes. Wouldn’t matter. A few breaks here or there will send the team up or down in the standings. Such as the int at the end zone due to terrible play calling in the chargers game. Raiders should have won that game. That would make them 4-2

For the Jimmy g haters, he looks to be as brittle as ever. So we will see someone else behind center. At least this week. Whoever it is, May the o line give him some time and open up some holes. This is a winnable game.

According to PFT, Rodgers was trying to get ownership equity worked into his contract. If he had been able to do that, the Jets would have given him a small stake in the team that would have replaced some of the cash in his deal.

It's not clear how the Jets felt about this proposal, because they never got a chance to respond. According to the Sports Business Journal, NFL owners actually voted just last week to put a ban on giving ownership equity to players or team employees. This new rule was passed on July 20, the same day that the owners approved the sale of the Commanders to Josh Harris.

• 1. Owners don't want players given equity because it could cause issues with the salary cap.

He WAS interested and inquired about it ,but the league ruled against it so it will never happen. Doesnt mean he didnt want to do it, just makes you pause on what kind of player coming out of college would even think of it. Something to ponder before a draft, thats all.


Florio's reporting in July was, in fact, that Williams (and Aaron Rodgers, for what it's worth) were among a select few players who inquired about team ownership stakes. So at one point, the USC quarterback was looking into that possibility. But what this recent revival of the report fails to mention on social media is that Florio's report was based on the league shutting down that possibility entirely.

The report in question regarding Caleb Williams was simply that he was interested but that the NFL had ruled that players (among others) are not eligible to have ownership stakes in a team. Thus, there is literally no chance that the QB still wants that because, by the league's newly stated rules, it is actually not allowed.
