2023 Las Vegas Raiders - RIP Jack - one of the greatest Super Bowl moments ever (1 Viewer)

What's to hate? D is legit, we knew we had a QB problem. We solve that we're in the mix. A couple of years ago we lose this thing by 30.
We should be hoping the Raiders continue to play hard but lose the rest of the games. This team needs a lot of pieces.
Yeah, it’s more complicated than just not having a QB. Cleveland has a QB problem and they’re 8-5. It’s an overall talent problem and an offensive scheme problem. McZ is to blame because this current roster wasn’t built to win this season. They thought they had time to rebuild, time to find a QB. AP is left to clean up the mess, and he’s done a good job with the hand he’s been dealt. I’m not sold he keeps the job, I see wholesale changes again next year as a new coaching staff moves in.
I think you thinking that they had some intentional plan is humorous.

McD thought he had a QB and an offense. Did they think they were SB ready? Prob not but they made a lot of decisions that showed they didn't have a plan other than try to grab as many ex-Pat players and install the Patriot Way into the Raider org. It failed miserably along with McD's ability to evaluate talent.

McD is just really THAT bad. AP and Bo are picking up the pieces of multiple bad roster decisions and trying to change a failed offensive system while mid season which is hard as hell.

You could have given him 10 years and McD would have 10 years of running the team into the ground. Worse HC hire for us since Lane Kiffin.

I don’t disagree. I guess I need to choose my words better.

Didn’t watch the game. Glad I missed it. The offense is still terrible apparently. You AOC apologists still think he’s the next Tom Brady?

So….coming out of the bye, this probably spells the end of ap and Bo. Is there any way they keep champ and pg? Seems highly doubtful. Can we just have some stability…please.

The coaching staff, minus Bo, may be kept but there needs to be a lot of changes to the roster. The D is playing well and with more talent may actually change games. I can’t believe I am saying that after watching the D give up so many points for decades but it would be great to keep the D on its current course. The O is disappointing since there is talent but has been held back by the QB all season. The o line is beat up and lacks talent as well which has to be a priority when rebuilding the team.

It will be interesting for sure. I personally hope Davis really tries to keep Graham on board no matter who the HC is. I’d be ok with AP as the HC even if it’s for his leadership qualities alone. Davis can probably keep him on the cheap since he’s still paying Gruden and McDaniels. If that ends up happening the whole offense neeeds to be rebuilt from the scheme to Oline personnel and some decisions will have to be made at the skill positions. And obviously a new QB and an experienced OC will have to be brought in. I can’t believe I’m saying this but the D is there, just needs some depth and a little more talent.

Seems at the end of every season we are licking our wounds , hoping for some miracle that next season will bring new hope , which it usually does , only to be brought back to wound licking reality....again.

Rinse and repeat

The transformation of the defense is pretty amazing. We are all mildly dumbfounded. Rightfully so after so many years of ineptitude. It gives me a sliver of hope that perhaps the same relatively quick transformation could happen on offense. They need a qb. The o line needs help. Renfrow and Jacobs will most likely be gone next year. So their replacements will need to be found. I hate to say it, but I hope they keep losing. they need the draft capital.

LOVING the mahomes/chiefs meltdown. 😂😂😂
How does it feel when the calls don’t go your way Pat? Love it..
What I find hysterical is that Tooney was clearly offsides. Maybe Mahomes should redirect his ire to the person responsible for the penalty. 🤷‍♂️

My other thought about this is when a talking head comes on tv and says this call is an emphasis by the league. It is against the rules! Period. Why does the league have to "emphasize" calling it? It only serves to cast more suspicion on officiating, which is pretty suspect already.

And while on the subject, the officiating in the Eagles-Cowpokes game ruined the game. Frankly, I doubt I would watch much NFL if it wasn't for fantasy and betting. The product is terrible.

That is me with the NBA. I just can't stand watching it.... so I don't.

I totally agree. i didn’t watch any football all day and settled in to watch what I expected to be a good game and I get the refs. It was unwatchable.

My solution there is just to watch the last 5 minutes. Which takes a half and hour. I watch nearly no nba

I have this exact conversation with my daughters (11 and 12) weekly. One tells on the other without intent, because she's a story teller by nature. And the other gets mad for ratting her out. My response is always; it's the behaviour that led to the story... Focus on changing your behaviour and your sister won't have a story to share

By my count, Hunter Renfro has been responsible for 3 Raider losses in the past two years. A key fumble yesterday took away an FG attempt. Last year he fumbled twice LY vs the Cards, one of which was returned for a TD. The Raiders ultimately lost the game in OT. Then he ran into Adams at the end of a game vs the Chiefs LY that prevented the Raiders from getting a first down.

I have seen enough.

Dude has been cooked since getting his bell rung. Ship him off regardless of cost

He’s just a fumble waiting to happen. Too bad, he was on track to have a nice career as a niche slot WR. I just don’t think he’s built to take the punishment a slower slot WR will take in the NFL.

Right. I can’t believe Mahomes and Reid are whining so loudly about the call. It reaffirms what most of us see that they are used to getting all the calls to make sure they win games so the NFL can sell more KC jerseys. There is no debate that the call was correct. This wasn’t a questionable PI, fumble or catch. Dude lined up off side by at least 6 inches. Maybe the NFL has plans to hitch their wagon to a new player such as Stroud.

Renfrow was fun until he got blasted and knocked into tomorrow. I feel bad for him and hope he is ok but it should not be hard to find a bigger and faster slot WR.

I saw a clip of Mahomes crying about the foul "getting in the way of greatness" or something along those lines.

Check your NFL privilege bruh

You AOC apologists still think he’s the next Tom Brady?

I only saw bits of the game while shuffling my kid around town to play real sports. From what I did see the OL was gawd-awful and immobile AOC is unable to deal.
The score says it all. No need to watch it. Defensively Jack Jones is an upgrade over Peters. Nice to see a CB actually making tackles. Spillane was all over the field and I think I actually saw Tyree Wilson make a couple nice tackles at the LOS.

I also took note that he made a few plays yesterday.

I saw one highlight that he came from the opposite side of the field on a good hustle play that when Crosby flushed Doubs out, he cleaned him up. It was an all hustle play. I think he has the natural talent that if that is the kind of effort he puts in, he will flourish as he learns the game.

Raiders signed DJ Fluker. I feel like people have been calling for the Raiders to sign him off and on for like 5 years now.

They’re gonna pay off Jerry and dak this year and the 49ers are gonna be pissed

The one replay I did see was Jack Jack going for the hero play and letting the wr get the needed yardage for the game winning fg. Just make the f’ing tackle.

I was at work today. We were really having trouble with a piece of machinery. I looked at my co worker, who was wearing his raiders hat, and said this thing runs like the Raiders offense. He actually got mad at me. Ha ha

Too soon
Yep. I will say he's a good friend. His expression was hilarious, but I recognized it wasn't appropriate to laugh when I saw it.

The offense looked good on their opening drive. They picked up 4 first downs ( maybe 5). The drive stalled on a sack. After that the offense unraveled. AOC isn’t quick enough on his reads, or the receivers are taking to long to get open. Either way the oline can’t hold up that long.

AOC’s lack of mobility is really a concern, and I think he is better suited as a backup. That said, the OC can help him more. They need to use Tucker the way the Fish use Tyreek (Reverses, orbit motion and into pass routes). I am not suggesting Tucker is on par with Tyreek at any level. But he appears to pretty explosive. All passes schemed to Renfro need to now go to Meyers. All said, if they get their speed to the boundary or downfield, it may open up the run games.

A couple of gifts last night with huge upsets by teams that were below us in the draft order. We're currently tracked to draft #6. Won't be able to get down to Wlliams/Maye but a great chance for first choice after those guys.

Just my opinion, I watch a lot of PAC-12(2) games and I’m not sold on Caleb Williams. At one point late in the season he led the FBS in turnovers and TDs, very Jameis Winston-like stats that would scare me if I were a GM. And the guy is already rich beyond his dreams, how’s his motivation? I’d be curious to see how much he really cares about winning.
I haven’t seen enough of Maye to form an opinion yet. But the QB I like, and who should be there at or around #6 is Michael Penix. He’s not the biggest guy but he’s got a cannon for an arm and has enough mobility to extend plays. I’d be stoked if he became a Raider.

I think the chances are Caleb still goes #1 or #2 at the lowest if something gets shaken up, We are not going to be in the running for that unless we trade our next couple of drafts to move up. There are some QB's coming out that have tons of potential. We should be in the mix for one of them.

Plenty of good alternatives to Caleb, especially considering the personality red flags he's displayed.

If Tyree lives up to his draft position and Koonce continues to play well then we are well positioned on defense to be competitive. Obviously, Crosby is the center piece for the defense. Having a high level player opposite of him will do wonders and Koonce ability to come in and spell him or even kick Tyree into the inside in obvious pass downs. Nichols, Tillery and Jenkins are good pieces but that inside line would dangerous with a DT that could reliably pressure QB's from the inside. Maybe Jer'Zhan Newton's size let's him slip to us in the 2nd but then I think Graham favors bigger lineman.

Spillane has been awesome. Best FA acquisition we have made in a very long time. Deablo is a serviceable cover LB.

The emergence of Robertson has been nice to see. He is playing much better this year. Along with Hobbs, Jones, Bennett, Moehrig and Epps they solidified the secondary.

Overall though, the defense is playing good as unit and talent wise there are no huge gaping holes. That is how good teams build good teams. You have a solid roster and then you can just take whoever is the best player available for your system in the draft and not stretching to pick up needs or throw a ton of money to a FA hoping they live up to the huge contract (which we have seen too many times over the last couple of decades that has backfired on us).

Offensively, we need a QB. I am still not ready to throw O'Connell on the street but I think the only way he can be successful is with a dominant line. We don't have that to begin with but add in not having our best lineman at the most important position on the line then it is going to be hard for any QB to win let alone a rookie QB who is not mobile. I see potential but that potential seems to be a lower level starter or quality backup. In this NFL, you need a top 10 QB to be a serious contender year after year. After the QB we need to upgrade our line. Parham has regressed this season while Van Roten has played well. We are playing right about the middle of the pack on the offensive line. A dominant guard addition could make a big difference to this line but James and Eluemunor could be upgraded too.

Agree! I would also add an upgrade at center is needed as well. I have the priorities as:
1. QB Upgrade
2. Shut down CB
3. Upgrade at guard/center

I do not see Adams wanting to stick around for a rebuild. The Jets seem to be all in on Rodgers so they are a likely suitor.
How would the community feel about Adams straight up for Sauce Gardner?

Not sure if you are serious about the Adams trade? Joe Douglas would hang up the phone immediately.

Raiders should take anything offered for Adams.

Yea, I think both C and RT are low priority upgrades. I like Elu, he has worked his tail off and stabilized that RT spot for us but he isn't immune to an upgrade. Same with James really though if you gave me a choice on upgrading C or RT, I would go C right now.

I much rather have a dominant DT than a shut down corner BUT I wouldn't turn my nose to a stud corner.

Adams for Gardner? Done. Sauce is set to be a top 3 corner for the next 5 years at least. Adams is set to start the inevitable decline from father time. If we did that though.... WR then becomes a HUGE hole and need. I don't see the Jets doing that though.

Just a gut feeling but I think Adams, Jacobs and for sure Renfrow won’t be back next season. And Zamir White is not the heir apparent to JJ, so I see a lot of shaking up of the skill positions in 2024. Not to mention the obvious need at QB. Good news if Graham stays the defense won’t be as huge a need as it has been in recent years, although Dline and CB depth are still lacking. I see it this way:
1. QB
2. Interior OL
3. RB if JJ leaves
4. WR if Adams and Renfrow move on
5. DB
