2023 New York Jets (2 Viewers)

I also had a feeling this was going to happen. My nephew asked if we were going to kick the butt tonight. I answered with this, quite literally, "Uh, I'll settle for Rodgers not getting hurt."

Can we merge the Jets and Giants into one team for just this season? Probably enough guys between them to make a decent crew.

Absolute insanity. Happy for Gipson. Seems like a nice kid and he really is electric with the ball in his hands (maybe they need to get him on the field for some offensive gadget plays)

Obviously a fun last couple of hours, but I think we're gonna get some really bad news tomorrow. I saw a calf pop.

And Zach is still awful. A couple of nice throws ( I dont count the TD. That was a bad throw and all Garrett) and it looks like he's doing a LITTLE better job on the short ones, but he's just not good. And Hackett obviously isn't gonna trust him. (although he's probably gonna have to learn to try). Next week in Dallas is gonna be a slaughter.

A healthy Breece Hall is a top 3 RB in the league. He clearly wasn't fully himself tonight (Getting caught from behind) and still averaged like 15 yards per touch. STUD. And they need to ramp him up because Cook did not look very good.

Obviously a legendary night for Whitehead, although 2 of them were gifts. Considering we all wanted him cut for cap savings this spring, he came up huge.

Becton didn't get hurt and did some damage in the run game. I do worry that Parsons is gonna TORCH him.

Roller coaster of emotions tonight. Guess we just need to cross our fingers and hope for (unlikely) good news.

I wonder if they try to bring someone off the couch is Rodgers is truly done. I know he stunk last year, but I might call up Matt Ryan.

They have too much talent to be a player for a top QB next year

I'm telling people that's wildly untrue. Look at our schedule and get back to me. Houston, Atlanta, and Washington sound like possible wins, but I'm looking at all the schedules and the bad teams are playing bad teams this year. Three wins might get it done.

Everybody is going to laugh, but Philip Rivers can roll out of bed and be a better QB than Zach. I also say that because he was willing to take calls as of last reports from last year.

Saleh confirmed they suspect torn Achilles in the presser. Just heartbreaking. Have to think he just retires now (I know he's been happy, but is he really gonna rehab from that at 40? I seriously doubt it) which will absolutely wreck their cap situation.

Yeah, can’t see why he’d come back. This was his last chance and wasn’t meant to be. Have to think they’ll bring someone in as a backup but Saleh confirmed it’s Zach’s show now - god help us.

The real bright side... play Zach and get Caleb
no chance. Highly unlikely they even pick top 5.
Eerily similar to the Eagle’s ‘91 season. That Eagles team that lost Randall in the first quarter of week 1 that year and ran a parade of misfits at quarterback to finish 10-6. An all time elite defense kept them in every game.

Yeah, he’ll retire. He would struggle in 2024 coming back - so what’s the point.

This truly blows (and now I’m even more glad to stay out of the Sharkpool and not read all the moronic takes, although they’ll still trickle in here as you can see), we are truly cursed as a fan base.

This talented roster will be wasted - Zach showed some semblance of improvement but he’s still really bad - the TD pass was horrible and Wilson bailed him out.

I really just can’t see some retread like Ryan or Rivers coming in cold and getting ramped up in time to matter.

The only hope is a 2000 Ravens type defense and while this one is elite, it’s not at that level.

And the 2008 Patriots that managed to go 11-5 with Matt Cassel

That win was probably the highlight of the season, but man what a game. Salah used the word resilient in his presser, and as Jet fans I think we take that as a cue. This D is legit really really good, Breece and Garrett are special. Yeah, Zach still stinks, but to his credit he was a gamer last night and got absolutely crushed a few times and kept bouncing back. They need to find a vet and there is no out there who will likely move the needle, but Joe D needs to find a viable guy he can turn to if Zach regresses completely into 2022 Zach (probably will happen...). He did make a few nice plays. Breece, wow, just wow, what a player and that GWilson catch was all timer. Tough not to really love this team even with the injury. Rodgers looked very old out there and was probably an injury waiting to happen, he was holding the ball way too long. No silver lining, but this is a repeat of 1999 where the pressure if off and now just play straight up ball. Bummer for sure though, with a pretty good QB we could have been in the mix. That being said, no team is going to enjoy playing this D and they do have two amazing offensive players so they will be feisty.

Hang in their fellow Jet fans game at time...

Sorry guys. Injuries suck.
I second this, sorry guys
That sucks for all NFL fans
Yeah it sucks. Legit SB contender with AR.
We don't know that. Rodgers might have sucked this year. We'll never know.
Correct. We'll never know. It's too bad. But the Jets dropped back to pass 3 times and Rodgers was hit on all 3 of them. Not sure Rodgers would have survived the season at that rate anyway.

he was not that bad, had a couple halfway decent seasons in KC

Best view possible in a rough situation is that the Jets get their #1 pick back in what should be a good QB draft. If AR retires that would also free up cap space to continue to build up the talent level of an already solid team.

Woke up, slapped myself a few times to confirm that I was indeed awake. Checked twitter to confirm that last night actually happened, punched myself in the junk, went back to sleep for half an hour.

I know I'm a 39 year old man with professional responsibilities. I'm supposed to go to work and be productive and positive....but man that's gonna be rough today. Honestly hoping that just nobody talks to me all day.

Text convo with my best friend

BL: you alright?

NYJ: I’m a wreck haha. You expect these things as a jets fan and for some reason this year i bought in it would be different lol

Imagine a patriots or chiefs or eagles or 9ers fan texting me

BL: the story of the Jets is like the Faustian Bargain of sports

“You shall be the first AFL team to win a Super Bowl

Henceforth and never more shall you ever drink from the chalice of champions

“We accept!!” shouted Joe & Weeb in unison

NYJ: lmao
