2023 NY Giants - (Schoen & Daboll episode 2 – Danny turns Dimes into Dollars) (1 Viewer)

If they set their mind to it,I think we can take that number one pick away from The Bears.
Keep Andrew and Michael on the O-line
Draft O-line at #1 or #2 or #3,wherever we are.
Draft O-line early second round
Then early third round I'd say draft O-line.

It is really a bummer that we've spent two #1s and #2 on three of the five spots already, and here we are.

Watching Garrett Wilson on Sunday night, coulda woulda shoulda.

"#NYGiants are running out of healthy bodies up front on the offensive line, so compounding the lack of execution and bad play with a numbers' game.

I asked Brian Daboll if they needed to bring OL in this week just to compete on a short week, and he said they were still going through medical evals.

If John Michael Schmitz and Shane Lemieux are out, that's two holes. Ben Bredeson was moving very slowly in the locker room last night.
If he's banged up and can't go, all three of the Giants' centers would be on the shelf, at least for this week."

Tank for Caleb Williams

I'm done with Jones ... 9ers got in his head with the Afraid to throw tthe Ball Comments.
Jones was literally terrified to thrown downfield from the start of this game and Sea sensed it and built confidence off of it.
This was the worst game of Jones career and the the beginning of the end for Jones ... he'll never recover from this

Trade every player possible starting with the Obvious (try to get a 4th rounder for each)
  • Leonard Williams
  • Adoree Jackson
  • Saquon
  • Xavier Mckinney
If any one will take these 1 year commitment players for a (5th 6th rounder) do it
  • Glowinski
  • Parris Campbell (Dont tell the other teams but this guy is freakin aweful!!!!!!!!)
  • Roches and or Ashawn Robinson
Real Wishfulthinking ... Trade
  • Daniel Jones (Trade him the second a contending team loses their QB)
  • Okereke ( Same here ... this guy is freakin aweful!!!!!!!!)
If you can get a 3-4 ...
  • Waller

Wow after all that offseason bluster, out on him 4 game into his new contract eh?

I hope you guys trade or cut him

2023 Dead cap hit: $81M
2024 Dead cap hit: $69M

Neither of those will happen.

The contract was structured so that we had an out in 2025 (22mm dead cap) and 11mm dead cap in 2026.

Its a win/win for rival fans. Trade him, cap screwed. Keep him, team screwed.

Giants lose 2 players to injury during 'tush push' play vs. Seahawks

Center John Michael Schmitz and tight end Daniel Bellinger did not return after a fourth-and-1 rush attempt during the Giants' opening drive of the game.
That rush play was the "tush push,"

Why would the Giants with the weakest IOL in the NFL run a play theyve never ran before right into the strength of the Seahawks D (Bobby Wagner)
It is absolutely crazy how bad things are going for the Giants ... Schmidtz was already injured before they ran the damn play !!!!!!!!!! He was limping around earlier in the first drive

By the way ... Thibedeux being the great teamate that he is walked over and shook Geno Smiths hand while he was in a heated argument with his teamate Xavier Mckinney
2nd week in a row he decided to take the opposing teams side in an argument

I didnt notice the Seahawks recipricating friendly gestures while they were beating Jones brains in play after play

Signed to our practice squad, I present to you Justin Pugh.

Per @MikeGarafolo

"The #Giants are signing OL Justin Pugh to their practice squad, sources say. The team’s 2013 first-round pick returns to East Rutherford to join an offensive line in need of help and depth."
If Healthy Probably their best Olineman going into the Miami game. His PFF Ratings for the last year 61 and the last 3 years are higher than anyone currenyly on the Giants, except for Thomas,
I also dont get what is going with Glowinski ... I get that he sux but hes way better than Lemieux

I also dont get what is going with Glowinski ... I get that he sux but hes way better than Lemieux
Yeah, I don't know either.
Looked awful game 1 and then dropped way down the depth chart.
Good to see from, get this...a guy who carries the 6th highest cap hit this year on the team. Well 7th if you want include Kenny G's dead cap of 14.7mm.

Giants workout OT

"The Giants tried out former Titans OT Jamarco Jones.

Jones was working as a starter for part of camp with Tennessee but was released after multiple fights during training camp practices.

He previously spent 4 seasons with the Seahawks."

*******

Could use some fight in this team.

30 sacks given up through 5 games...

- Jones if healthy has a chance at David Carr's single season record of 76 (2002)
- Giants on pace to secure the 2nd all time sacks against in a single season of 78 (1997 Cardinals)
- 1st all time sits with the 1986 Eagles at 104 (Cunningham/Jaworski/M. Cavanaugh).

"Just how bad was the Giants play at right guard alone yesterday:

Marcus McKethan (14 pass block snaps) and Jalen Mayfield got a 0.0 PFF pass blocking grade after McKethan was injured.

Mayfield was tied for 50th out of 50 qualifying guards this week with a pass block win rate of 75%. McKethan before he was injured was 33%!"
Looks like the Giants failled miserably with their reach picks of Ezeudu and McKethan as well as their 1st rd pick of Neal ... 0 for 3
Look at these pathetic PFF #'s from Yesterdays game
  • OL Jalen Mayfield (25.9)
  • OL Joshua Ezeudu (27.9)
  • OL Matt Peart (31.6)
  • OL Evan Neal (31.6)
  • OL Ben Bredeson (41.0)
I think its time to bite the bullet and move Neal inside and see if Guard is an option going forward

I personally do not want to see the Giants win another game this season
The 1st pick in this coming Draft is a Franchise changer whether you keep it and draft Williams or trade it for a boatload of 1st rd picks

Jeezuz, we all know what happened to Carr.

I felt bad for Jones last game, despite him getting paid. But, getting paid would make it easier.
It's already happened to Jones ... Past 3 games he is terrified to throw the ball.
I can't blame him for that. Or getting all that guaranteed money. It's like every snap he takes could be his last.

28 of Evan Neals 40 Starts at Bama were on the Left Side. 13 games LG in 2019, 12 games RT in 2020 and 15 games LT - First-team All-SEC (2021).
I have to imagine LT/RT are very different for some players particularly less athletic/coordinated players.
Put Neal on the left side of the line (where he had most of his success @ Bama) next to Thomas @ LG and Sign Collins to play RT

LT - Thomas
LG - Neal
C - Schmidts
RG - Pugh
RT - Collins

That has potential to be an immediately decent to good Oline with Youth and Beef from C to LT and Veteran experience and leadership on the right side

Early line on the Bills game +14.5 lol. edit: 4th time already this season for a national audience to bear witness to this mess..

I think they leave Neal at RT this year, see what he can do with Pugh next to him.

:sigh:

- In 6th spot currently, games of interest this week:

- Minn at Chicago 1-4 vs 1-4
- NE at Vegas 1-4 vs 2-3
- Cards at Rams 1-4 vs 2-3

Hot Supper!

Cheese and Rice!

I guess the man was right when he said "There's always lower than rock bottom"

This guy has been undependable to be available.

All his injuries have been lower body. Hamstring, both calves, ankles. Tore his ACL as a high school senior, redshirted and didn't miss a game in college (2yrs).
It’s a shame that he can’t seem to stay healthy because he is an above average pass rusher.
Can't remember where I read it but Carl Banks thought this kid had 15 sacks in him if healthy.

I recall seeing that too.
The kid has only played in 27 games for his career but has 13.5 sacks. That's a sack every other game.

10/14 Roster moves.

OL Justin Pugh, QB Tommy DeVito - Activated, from Practice Squad (Standard Elevation)

OL Jalen Mayfield - Free Agent Signing from NYG Practice Squad

OLB Azeez Ojulari - Reserve/Injured <-- UGH!

Well, using my metric from last year, at least I was entertained this game. I was expecting a blow out.

Asking ‘right off the couch’ Pugh to play LT is asking way too much. The defense played its butt off. TTaylor had the chance to the hero, instead he was the goat. Changing to a run at the end of 1st half was a really dumb call. That wasn’t on the coaches in my mind.

But, with all that, somehow, even with all the ref homecooking, they still had a chance to win on the final play.

They were the better team all night.
One lousy brain fart.
They can wallow in self pity.
Or get pi$$ed off and win a couple games.

Tough loss last night. I agree it was entertaining and they did much better than I expected them to.
Wink and the defense did a great job confusing Josh Allen and making plays for the most part. The run defense still stinks when Dex isn’t on the field (despite the free agent signings)
Big shout out to “just off the couch” Justin Pugh.
I’m not sure what Tyrod was thinking at the end of the 1st half.
Tyrod did make some nice plays during the game, I liked that he was willing to take a couple of shots downfield. Slayton pulled in a couple deep balls.

I think Collinsworth was probably right…(thst hurt me to type). Tyrod got his play and he was running it. He wast really thinking about time. He got a bad look and changed the play. He lost the plot and didn’t consider time when he was looking things over. total brain fart. Honestly, giants win that game if they just get 3 there.

They competed. It wasn’t always pretty, but they competed. And I agree, Pugh deserves major props. He tightened things down after a couple of bad plays.

The Giants have to sign Pugh to the 53 man roster now right?
No way he goes back to the practice squad

What the Hell are the Giants doing ???
  • Sending Pugh to the practice squad when he already proved to be the best most versatile Olineman the Giants currently have
  • And what is going on with Thomas and Schmidtz????
  • Jeezus ... Thomas played the entire game with a pulled hamstring and now 2 months later he is not even close to game ready ???
  • And what happened to Shcmidtz !?!?! It's like he never existed ! Nobody even mentions him as if it was no big deal that he got injured. Like he was just one of the other injured dumpster dives.

Throwing in the towel on the season to position for the #1 pick next season?
I hope not but....maybe??

Jameson Crowder won NFC special teams player of the week. Why we kept the likes of Lemieux/Peart over him....

Eric Gray as a return man:
4.7yds per punt
14.5yds per kickoff

IMO it would be the smart thing to do considering how they've played so far and who will potentially be available at 1.01. I know it's still a little early to throw in the towel, but we're not far away from mid-season and the trade deadline, and I don't see this team making such a complete change and suddenly becoming a playoff team. Let Thomas and any other injured players sit for as long as it takes to be 100%. That also lets them see what they have with some of the younger depth players for the future.

Its wild to me that Parris Campbell isn't the return man. He got 1 against Buffalo, hopefully that becomes the norm, because he's good at it, and Gray clearly isn't.

Is Taylor starting this weekend?

I am going to be honest, I have him on my bench and I am thinking of starting him as my QB2 this week if he does start. I don't think he looked bad Sunday.

Early guess at #NYGiants offensive line for Sunday against one of the best defensive fronts in the league if Evan Neal does not play

LT Justin Pugh
LG Mark Glowinski
C Ben Bredeson
RG Marcus McKethan
RT Tyre Phillips
