2024-25 NBA Thread: Big weekend for Halliburtons (105 Viewers)

Ugh, Pacers have twice now lost the ball after securing the rebound. Take care of the freaking ball and you can win this. I know OKC is relentless on defense with quick hands, but it shouldn't be a surprise anymore. They took care of the ball in game 6, but are looking sloppy so far in this one, have 6 TO's so far.

everyone on the Pacers plays hard, with intensity and effort... except Mathurin.

he doesn't seem to like boxing out, trying too hard on defense or to match the aggressivity of his teammates. OKC is attacking him like crazy out of the gate.

Bad start by the Pacers, only positive was a Siakam 3. Still, that was a missed carrying call on SGA. He was going to do a one-handed pass, but then decided to dribble again. Ball stopped in his palm pretty obviously and the refs were asleep and it leads to a prayer 3 from Dort.

Bad breaks for the Pacers so far but they have to stop turning it over and giving up offensive rebounds.

Pacers have no chance.

Is this an asterisk championship for OKC?

Why?
Pacers without Halliburton

That is sports. They didn't cheat. No guarantee that the Pacers win with Haliburton.
I didn’t say they cheated.

I know, but that is the only reason IMO why a title would have an asterisk.
The way I see it is if the other teams best player gets hurt and can’t play, it changes the game. That is a massive loss, especially for a team like Indiana. And in a league like the NBA with only 5 guys on the court……its a series changer. It just is.

I’m just bummed we couldn’t see both of these teams go to the wire slugging it out and let the best man win.

Now? It’s just a matter of time for OKC. I love seeing small market teams with things like this. But it ain’t the same with Halliburton out.

It seems extremely disrespectful to a winning team. What if Tatum doesn't get hurt and they come back and beat the Knicks and then beat Pacers, what if the Cavs starting lineup wasn't all hurt and they beat the Pacers, how Dame with his blood clots? P
Sports have injuries and they don't taint another teams title becauae they happen. It just seems absurd to say they do.
