2024-25 NBA Thread: Game 7!! (128 Viewers)

Great win for Detroit. They remind me of Houston in that they're a gritty bunch that has played a more experienced team tough throughout the series. At least DET has a closer in Cunningham. Despite their storied rivalry leading up to the NBA, Jalen Green is not that :kicksrock:

I feel bad for Bucks fans. Such a brutal season ending in these playoffs.

Brutal, or merciful depending on your pov. I’m totally at peace with it. I was texting with my son and told him the Bucks won a championship in 1971 when I was 5 and I had to wait 50 years for the next one. He could be facing a similar wait.

Doc will be back to pods with Simmons before we get halfway through May.

I believe both Doc and Adrian Griffin are under contract with the Bucks through the end of the ‘26-27 season so it may not be as easy as you’d think. Griffin has shown no interest in taking a coaching job as far as I’m aware so he’s probably just riding out the gravy train (not judging.). I think he’s podcasting. They just gave the GM a big extension last week so it’s a very odd situation that probably won’t shake out for a few months at least.

Stevie Francis II ?

I still can't believe MIL blew that huge lead in such a short period of time. Only a Doc lead team could do that or one facing Indy during the Reggie days.

"sOfTer tHan BaBy ****" @GOB :coffee: 31 point win with a dominating 2nd half. They couldn't shoot in the first half but were only down 2 thanks to some good defense. Then the shots fell, Banchero got in foul trouble and the game was over before the 4th quarter even started.

Joe Mazzulla has never and will never let them be soft. Tatum stepped up with a brilliant closeout game (again), Brown played effective through his injuries and scored when they needed him, Porzinigs/Kornet/Horford defended the middle well and Pritchard/Hauser knocked down shots and played good defense. Oh and Derrick White was just OK and Jrue Holiday didn't even play. They closed this out with one of the best backcourts in the league doing next to nothing.

The Champs are here!!!

Not beating the drum for Doc but he didn't have 2 costly turnovers in the final 30 seconds. Ultimately it didn't matter as once Dame went down what little chance the Bucks had to make a run this playoffs (and it was a very small chance) was effectively over. Bucks at a major crossroads here with Dame out for next season and very little draft capital it may be time to consider the unthinkable.

Who says no to a Dame for Beal trade?

The NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, preliminarily (Beal makes makes less than Lillard and the 2nd Apron makes that a no go). Otherwise, I would say the Suns say no first as they are still trying to compete, it seems, and a zero from Lillard next season is a non-starter. Ultimately, I don't think the Bucks would do it either as they are ****ed next year either way, but they would think about it.

Maxi Kleber is questionable for tonight... if he plays, does he start? He kinda sucks and he hasn't played with LAL yet but Hayes really sucks and Kleber at least provides the idea of a stretch big that can plan a little D even if he is too slow to play D and can't shoot.

👍 I'm glad Joe Mazzulla gets you hard.

Who says no to a Dame for Beal trade?
Beal's wife.

So... where does Giannis play next year and beyond?

My gut says he stays, but if he does go there will be 20ish teams trying to buy. I would bet if he does ask for a trade it will be behind closed doors and the Bucks will get a list from him.

Best 5ish realistic teams for a title, OKC, San Antonio, Golden State, Houston, Indiana, Detroit.

Best return for the Bucks. OKC, Houston, San Antonio, Detroit. I am sure there are some others, but I don't know everyone's pick situation.

I've seen this clip several times. It is a travel, but only barely. If his left pivot foot doesn't move that inch or so, it is a clean move. There are dozens more egregious travels every game than that

That's like making a 3-pointer good because a foot was "barely" on the line. Dude, it's a clear travel, and because there's much worse, doesn't make "barely" now legal.

I just love the fact you said there are so many more egregious travels every game than that. Crazy amount.

The not-traveling thing, where you can stop completely, after 1 or 1 1/2 steps (lofl @ "gathering"), hell 2 steps , and then just add one more step thereafter is comical.

The language the leagues (hi NFL) use to fix these rule modifications is amusing. Since we're doing Boston, I give you the tuck rule, resulting in a SB win.

Where did the "football move" come from anyway? That's a good one. Might have to do a top 10 of rule change language.

Why watch when you hate the game so much?

I was waiting for that one. Because I have a broken back (BORED) and sports are better than nothing. I guess I'm kind of critiquing the changes I see and I'm not liking any of them, really.

The ref camera is also an abomination. Takes way too long and those guys love all the attention. They should ditch that side-show.

The game has its moments, but yeah, I think the direction it's taken is not for the better.

I enjoy Barkley and Shaq. Especially when they rip on some of the same things I'm bringing up. Last night they were all over how soft it is now. And the debate about the Greek Freak's Dad going on the court to talk **** was also good. Funny stuff.

I was watching the game tonight and was thinking about the difference in approval rating between teammates like Dillon Brooks vs. Steven Adams and Steph Curry vs. Draymond Green. I realized our Wolves have a similar dynamic with Mike Conley vs. Rudy Gobert. I can't think of any bigger than Brooks and Adams though. Anyone else?

Houston leads the list with any star this summer IMO. They've got contracts, combo of young players & picks to offer (including PHX pick in the upcoming lottery). I think they have the ~10th best odds but imagine if they got #1 pick? They'll absolutely have their pick of stars

Particularly if they bow out early this playoffs.

Jokic and Westbrook?

(I think Steph and Green are the best choice)

Going old school, Joe Dumars and pretty much everyone else on the bad boy Pistons.

Haha, I was thinking of calling out Dumars/Lambeer as an all time choice.

This should be called the

Maybe for adults, but my kids generation all love Westbrook.

I think it's Adams and Brooks. Steph has had too much success to not have a large amount of haters.

Sorry about the broken back. But the choice isn't watch basketball or watch nothing

What are we even talking about, I thought you meant like teammates who like each other the most

Teammates with one being universally loved (Adams) and one universally hated (Brooks)

Seems like a wolves-thunder WCF is pretty clear now. The Nuggets or clippers would be dangerous, but just don’t think they will have enough juice after this series. Wolves have some serious mojo right now and finch knows how to push the right buttons. Don’t think the warriors will be able to sustain a full series against the more experienced wolves (as opposed to the rockets). I guess we can’t count out the rockets just yet, but I don’t see them being able to beat a more experienced but younger team (as opposed to the warriors).
