2024-25 NBA Thread: Kevin Love fulfillls destiny by being traded to Utah (20 Viewers)

DFS to Rockets for 4-53 per Sharms
Bummer - sounds like the Lakers didn’t want to give that many years

If only LeBron took a pay cut.
I think it was more the years than the $ that was the problem with DFS and the Lakers.

I know I was being cheeky. You get people coming down on LeBron and other athletes for taking the money, but no peep from those people when the Lakers or whatever team doesn't want to fork out the extra years or dollars.

Can't forget MJ quit for 2 years to go play baseball. If Lebron did something like that I feel very comofortable saying a large percentage of teh same "MJ is the goat" people would automatically disqualify Lebron from the conversation. Somehow it's ok because it was Jordan though.
:lmao:

Tell yourself whatever you want, guy.

Doesn't make it true.
Come on. If LeBron took 2 years off in his prime to go play tight end in the nfl some of you would never shut up about it. Be real.
Wat

If Lebron doesn't like the direction the Lakers are taking and he asks for a trade( I believe this highly unlikely) There are probably only four or five teams he would go. It would be a team in the West except maybe the Cavs. The others would be Nuggets, Clippers, Warriors, and maybe a sleeper team like the Rockets or T Wolves.
Knicks an option? They are certainly East contenders and a big market for LeBron too. No idea what pieces would have to move to make it work

My feelings is he wants to be in California and the only reason he would consider the Cavs is because it is where he was born and raised and I kind of see that as a long shot. If he was just after rings he would have left a couple of years ago.

I am no expert l though and have been wrong before, so maybe on the Knicks.
To make the salary work and to get Cleveland under the second apron (so they can combine outgoing players), they’d have to trade away Garland, Hunter, and Allen for LeBron (assuming Mitchell and Mobley are off the table). Not sure they’d want to do that unless this was also an opportunity to shed long term salary.
Why would Hunter need to be included? Garland and Allen are ~$60m by themselves.

I love how less than a week after the Finals we get the draft. Then, like a week later, we get free agency.
I'm ready!

Draft Harper, trade for Durant for about 50 cents on the dollar, and mix in a little Luke Kornet to do some dirty work. There probably won't be a lot of minutes for CP3, but I would not mind him being brought back to help with Harper's development, and maybe get a ring, right?

Starting lineup: Wemby, Durant, Sochan, Castle, Fox
Rotation: Harper, Champaignie, Kornet, Keldon Johnson, and maybe we see Blake Wesley still get some run (I still believe he can carve out a decent role in the NBA).

About mid-season we should start cooking once we've got a guard rotation such that we have 2 out of 3 of Fox, Castle, and Harper on the floor at all times. They should eat up weak benches, and eventually the entire league.
You can have Kornet when you pry him from Brad Stevens' (and my) cold dead hands.
Any new nickname suggestions?

Not sure I really understand the Capela to Rockets deal. Injury insurance? Or they really gunna embrace the 2 bigs look.

Man Rockets have a crapload of players now.

They would have to get under the 2nd apron to be able to aggregate salaries, so they would need to get rid of more salaries to get there.
