2024-25 NBA Thread: Thunder starting to question having 140 pound guy playing in post in Finals (64 Viewers)

2 must watch series in the west.
2 snoozefests in the east.

Yeah, IND/CLE is interesting on a bball perspective, but both teams kinda bore me. Not much for personalities, and I don't see a world beater megastar on either team.

Sorry for beating a dead horse but I’m 51 and never gambled in my life. Would you mind predicting the next games so I can fade you? TIA.

Cappy - is there a way we can pin Shamrock's post? :lmao:

Is it illegal for BOS players to be in the paint on O or something? I get the idea of dancing with the date who brought you.....but sometimes it seems like you should try to get some high % 2's .

I like Tatum as a player, I really do. But the insistence that he has arrived has been rushed. He's still young and can get there, but I just don't see him as more than an All-star and 2nd/3rd team all NBA guy at best. He's a highlight reel player but doesn't do much more than score. His defense is good, his passing is OK and his rebounding is OK. He doesn't bring enough to the table to be in that "face of the league" conversation because he will never be a superstar if he doesn't develop more facets of his game.

I guess the real question is if you're building a team and can pick one player as the foundation is it Ant or Tatum? I know who me and Kerr are picking.

I saw a breakdown of the BOS / NYK game. The combination of BOS shooting 25% from three while NYK making 45% from three had something like a 0.82% probability . . . and the Knicks only won by one possession. The positive takeaway for the Celtics was those shooting variance outcomes overlapped, meaning that the Celtics terrible shooting night and the Knicks strong shooting night happened on the same night (if split, it could have impacted two games instead of one). I didn't like how Boston looked in the second half, but if things level off shooting wise, the C's should still be able to win without playing at their best. They still need to play better. Mazzulla didn't seem all that phased in his press conference. He was very on brand . . . got to hit open shoots when you get them, and in his opinion their shot quality was mostly good. I agree with others that they settled for way too many threes . . . and making extra passes with a couple of seconds left on the shot clock was a big issue.

Now do game 2.

I watched the first quarter live, but had to record the rest of the game and watched it late.

When I turned it on, it jumped to live and I saw Brunson being interviewed before I could go back to the beginning. I knew then it was going to be bad.

I have no defense for Tatum or Mazzulla or the team. I thought game 1 was a fluke, but 2 games of the same crap offense is highly concerning.

I felt like the Cavs would flail and had a sense OKC wouldn't steamroll Denver, but this Boston collapse is shocking to me.

If Boston even shot poorly on open shots they would have won both games by double digits. Instead they shot about as bad as my 4th graders b-ball team. truly amazing how they all forgot how to shoot at the exact same time. Not sure I have seen so many wide open threes missed

I deserve all the ridicule.

My confidence in my basketball knowledge is now as flimsy as the Celtics confidence when they are shooting a 3.

ETA: This feels like ECF Heat series in 2023. They'll make a valiant effort to come back and win the series but fall flat right at the end.

Seems like too much Westbrook not enough Jokic so far for Denver. Denver also seems to not know how to protect the paint.

At least you're a good sport about it, unlike Phily fan who would have broken a wrist mashing the report button.

Denver looks like the Heat in game 4 vs the Cavs. Sloppy TO's, missed blockouts for easy putbacks and poor defensive rotation.

That's a game management tech on Hartenstein. He did nothing to deserve it, but Denver is starting to get frustrated with how physical OKC is playing in addition to getting smoked.

I know I'm a bit biased but I am loving the Butler-Hield duo in the post game pressers.
Loved how Jimmy told Buddy to start using the backboard for his layups.
"You saw what happened when you tried to shoot a layup in the first quarter"

<makes joint smoking motion>

"Smokey Robinson"

-

"My name is Buddy"

"Yeah, short for Buttered"

It goes on and on :lmao:
The look on Jimmy's face whene Buddy is asked about Kerr saying he is a two way player was awesome.

After a good night's sleep and some morning pickup basketball I've had some time to think and reflect.

What I feel is disappointment and sadness. Like I've lost my pet hamster or my favorite TV show was cancelled. The world just feels a bit grayer.

Life will go on but..........still........ if Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum don't quit kicking THE FREAKING BALL AROUND COURT LIKE 5TH GRADERS AT RECESS I'M GOING TO STAB SOMEONE!!!!

Anyway, I hope everyone has a blessed day.

I can already see Jayrod wielding a shiv during morning pick-up and chasing that teenager around who got the best of him :boxing:

so, 6 hoor time difference basically negates watching live. i have yttv and decided to watch via the “key plays”, which are around 30…last night was 31. key plays were regular hoops, some defense, but every play the score was boston up 12, 15, 9, 20, lol. they had about 3 key plays left and i couldn’t figure out what was going on. just assumed the knicks would lose. then the towns put back that got the knocks to within 1 i think. the tatum dunk that put them up 1 and then last play had the knicks up 1 ( they didn’t show FTs from brunson), with tatum getting stopped. i was like, i think the knicks won without me seeing them ever take the lead.

Against our peers? Me all day long. I prefer to go left.

In reality? Obviously the professional.

But if it was my job, I'd be working on such a liability regularly. He may have the second worst mitts in the NBA behind Gobert.
