well, Jerry also has that brand new stadium. each year the team makes the playoffs thats a pile of cash coming in and he needs the cash to payoff that insane stadium. while its easy to say Jerry should do this or that, the bottom line is if he can keep paying Dak and the team continues making the playoffs that's probably the way he will go. when you miss the playoffs, attnedance wont be as good. he knows this. and to some degree this is also a business for him. so I would not be surprised to see him pay dak to keep him. but the term may be shorter than Dak wants.I think what fans don't realize that is true are 2 thingsThey win just enough to keep you interested and hopefulBranding is a helluva drugno idea how dallas stays this relevant.

1. Not every player is in it for the glory, a lot of professional athletes realize they are just great at the sport they become pros at and can become VERY rich doing it. Its just a job to some. Fans seem to not want to accept this fact at all and the moment a player says something along these lines, they get crucified.
2. Not every Owner has a team to put up banners and championships. If you get your money in on a pro sports team, unless its the WNBA, you are going to vastly increase your fortune over time. NFL, NBA, MLB. All Cash cows. Soccer might soon be there too.
Jerry is an enigma in these regards bc "He has won" but IMO doesn't feel he gets enough credit b/c Jimmy J was the one that made the moves that got those Super Bowls. Hence him being a meddling owner/GM, the only one of its kind in the league. He also is a VERY egotistical guy, so you gotta factor that in as well as how much he loves to be "famous"

I agree with a lot of this. How do you correct this? Some, like me say, the fact that you are already a Cowboy "makes you famous" and players seem to, to a degree, not care as much about winning. Subjective of course, but I agree with the premise the pressure to perform is there. But any player has the ability to tune out stuff if they really want to, at the same time. The pressure in Dallas, especially the QB is immense. At this point, all the hype, glitz and glamor of the Dallas Cowboys is a detriment. Every single team n the league gets up for their games against them. Almost everyone of them are nationally televised or prime time.
For nearly their entire existence, they have been perennial choking dogs. Even Staubach‘s boys were chokers. Only Aikman and his boys had the stuff.
are you sure about this? googled it. it doesnt say who owns the stadium but Jerry paid an awful lot of cash, the municipality of Arlington paid around 325M I think Jerry paid most of the rest but who owns it? not sure. one way or another that stadium still needs to be paid for. it aint free. and filling the stadium is the best way to get value for the money spent.Jerry Jones doesn't own the stadium though.well, Jerry also has that brand new stadium. each year the team makes the playoffs thats a pile of cash coming in and he needs the cash to payoff that insane stadium. while its easy to say Jerry should do this or that, the bottom line is if he can keep paying Dak and the team continues making the playoffs that's probably the way he will go. when you miss the playoffs, attnedance wont be as good. he knows this. and to some degree this is also a business for him. so I would not be surprised to see him pay dak to keep him. but the term may be shorter than Dak wants.I think what fans don't realize that is true are 2 thingsThey win just enough to keep you interested and hopefulBranding is a helluva drugno idea how dallas stays this relevant.

So Jerry isn't paying for the stadium, just $2m per year to rent. Gets the naming rights. Makes money as revenue sharing part of the NFL. Most valued sports franchise in the world. Begs the question "why is he so cheap spending money on the team"Arlington owns the stadium. 2023 appraised value was just under $1.5 Billion.are you sure about this? googled it. it doesnt say who owns the stadium but Jerry paid an awful lot of cash, the municipality of Arlington paid around 325M I think Jerry paid most of the rest but who owns it? not sure. one way or another that stadium still needs to be paid for. it aint free. and filling the stadium is the best way to get value for the money spent.Jerry Jones doesn't own the stadium though.well, Jerry also has that brand new stadium. each year the team makes the playoffs thats a pile of cash coming in and he needs the cash to payoff that insane stadium. while its easy to say Jerry should do this or that, the bottom line is if he can keep paying Dak and the team continues making the playoffs that's probably the way he will go. when you miss the playoffs, attnedance wont be as good. he knows this. and to some degree this is also a business for him. so I would not be surprised to see him pay dak to keep him. but the term may be shorter than Dak wants.I think what fans don't realize that is true are 2 thingsThey win just enough to keep you interested and hopefulBranding is a helluva drugno idea how dallas stays this relevant.

At this point we're holding on to the increasingly faded glory of the early-90s squad and not much else. I feel about the same right now as I did around the tail-end of the Romo-era - the team has talent but I hold no expectations that they are capable of winning a Super Bowl.I’m gonna suggest someone else start the season thread. I can’t stand this team, QB, coach or front office.
Just garbage.
I think we are headed towards a 9-8 season and even money to miss the playoffs. The roster is depleted from last year and the Giants and Commanders will be better- those were 4 layup games last year. Schedule is also fairly tough. At this point we're holding on to the increasingly faded glory of the early-90s squad and not much else. And so it beginsFirst injury of camp. Looks like DE Sam Williams is out for the year.
Bummer. TC injuries still, the worst.First injury of camp. Looks like DE Sam Williams is out for the year.
8.5 sacks and 16 QB Hits over his first 2 seasons, 2nd rd pick, ended up 5th in the AP DRoTY in '22First injury of camp. Looks like DE Sam Williams is out for the year.
The starters are Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons - Sam Williams is entering his 3rd year and will likely be out for the year. I don't believe he has been the player we thought he could be, which is why they drafted Marshawn Kneeland pretty early. My best assessment of everyone behind those 4 is a bunch of young, raw, players.Bummer. TC injuries still, the worst.First injury of camp. Looks like DE Sam Williams is out for the year.
When the Cowboys lets a couple of pretty productive role player pass rushers walk this offseason (Armstrong and Fowler) I asked my brother Cowboys fan "what the plan was" at pass rusher. He literally said it was time for Sam Williams to step up. This was before they drafted Kneeland (who I like).
Curious what you guys think the Pass rush depth looks like right now.
Big Lawrence fan. Feel he is kinda your guys version of Brandon Graham. Doesn't get enough respect bc the sack numbers aren't there, but just a very very good player vs both the run and the pass. The starters are Demarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons - Sam Williams is entering his 3rd year and will likely be out for the year. Tyrus Wheat would probably be the project we would like to step in for some relief work but he was a 3rd or 4th round guy and pretty raw at the time we took him.
Zeke knows the system and is excellent in pass protection. Cowboys play fast and lean pass. He’ll see 60% of the RB opportunity. Is Zeke really the starter? How do y’all see the distribution of touches breaking down for the running backs?
I agree, though it seems many people think Dowdle will take over. He's been drafted ahead of Zeke now in most of my bestball leagues.Zeke knows the system and is excellent in pass protection. Dowdle is a respectable RB 2 with more burst than Zeke, but doesn’t do the other things- like pass protection and blitz pickup like Zeke does, but will see 35% of the RB opportunity.
The other 5% will come primarily from Deuce Vaughn, who will be part of a limited set of packages.
Someone (a Cowboys homer) in my keep-4 auction league decided to keep Dowdle instead of Jamo, saving about $4 by doing so. Probably not what I would have done.I agree, though it seems many people think Dowdle will take over. We transformed our depth at DL within 24 hours. Not bad.
I have not paid much attention to this team since they blew chunks again but I’ve seen enough reels of the two new guys Guyton and Beebe to think the line may be pretty nasty.
If your team strength is identifying and developing OLmen, FFS, just draft them every year!
He looks like a stud. Good draft pick here. The Cowboys can draft pretty wellIf anyone wants a treat - please watch Guyton’s ALL 22 from the Raiders game.
Looks like Zim isn’t a fan of MaziLival Joseph - come on down!!!
Brutal loss for Dallas.
Looked a lot better than any of the RBs. Maybe he needs a position change.Trey played the entire preseason game 3, and threw 5 interceptions. Oof
Good, then try to get Parsons done.CeeDee with a 4 year, $136 million contract.
