At his weight at DE, he takes take a pounding. Does not fare well at runs right at him.
His size and skill set requires a strong DC to scheme him up.
Also, Look at his sack splits start of year vs. End of year.

Yeah for sure. He definitely has been wearing down each half of each season for sure. Its like 8-10 sacks in the first 8-9 games, then like 3 sacks the last 8-9.
And your point about him being a liability in the run can't be understated either. Which is why I believe a scheme switch to 3-4 would do him wonders.
With that said, are there any potential coaches out there you guys are hearing for the DC job??

Meh, you talked to me into it. In that case, blow up the whole ******* thing. Cut Dak today, eat the money, trade everybody and everything tank next year and go from there.

I’m not advocating trading him as a for sure. I wanted to clarify this.
I’m highlighting as a great need that needs to be fixed properly with a very savy DC.
If we are bringing in some idiot DC, I would rather take the picks and cap savings.

Why not bring Zimmer back into the fold? Guy's one of the better defensive coaches around, still got a lot of coaching left in the tank.

As a head coach he’s average. He’s a great defensive coach and that’s what this team needs.
ONLY because they’re dragging this **** show out - I like Zimmer.
I couldn’t care less TBH. This team is dead to me.

It’s a fair point. Next year might just be a write off year.
The ALL in talk is very scary.
The best thing about Zimmer is that he’s a disciplinarian. A hardazz that won’t put up with the stupid penalties. Back in the day as a DB coach, I spent some time in the boat with him on a fishing trip I took him and one of my best friends Jim Jeffcoat on. Dude never hardly said a word or smiled. I was told he was a cool guy, but very concentrated and focused at whatever he does. Heard lots of stories about him chewing *** in practice.
I’ll take it, tired of the lack of accountability by some of these guys. Randy Gregory wouldn’t have lasted til lunch with Zim.

He also helped develop some really good players over the years. Player development is critical for a teams' success; draft isn't everything. You have to teach this players along the way. Danielle Hunter was a 3rd round pick that's turned into a monster on defense. Or an Eric Kendricks, a true middle-linebacker who flourished under Zimmer. Seems like the Dallas defense has been more sizzle than steak, feasting on big plays, but crumbling against teams that limit mistakes or use the Dallas' aggressive defense to their advantage. Discipline wouldn't be a bad thought and Zimmer is that.

Need to let Dak play out this final year and if he fails again time to move on at the QB spot. Dak just seems to lack the big game mojo needed in the playoffs.

There is zero chance of this happening. Jerry loves him. The team loves him. It would fracture the locker room full of young guys which would have a domino effect, some key/young guys might just move on or have more of a probability to do so if this were to happen.
Not to mention, the need to give him a contract extension with that monster $60m cap hit, which they need the money to extend key guys like Parsons and Lamb as well as all the other young talented guys they have drafted down the road.

"Love and results" are 2 different things. 8 seasons and have not made it past the wild card game. Dak is just like Tony Romo, lots of regular season stats, yet nothing to show for them. Time for a change "Here we go!"

I mean I agree with you and I agree with the thinking on this. Just, IMO, with Jerry running the show, publicly propping Dak up etc, plus his love for Dak, just don't see it happening. The Cowboys rarely make big time moves these days. They don't sign big free agents ever, they have a style of extending guys to keep the band together. They rarely let talent that can still play just leave out the door. They scout and draft well, build the team organically, and try to keep continuity. They have done a pretty good job of it too, just without the playoff success. My opinion Jerry is just thinking "its gonna happen one of these years" and he is 80+ and isn't probably going to sit thru his twilight years of owning the team he has had since the 80's watching a rebuild.

Of the options that were reportedly being considered, I feel this is the best choice of those. From my understanding, the system is complicated and takes a few years to really click though. I think his personality is what the Cowboys team needs though.

Based on what I have seen with Zimmer, we will need a MLB, and probably a DT and S.
So, we are going to draft these guys for a year of Zimmer and Mike’s last year?
We have other draft needs including OT, RB and WR.
Front office is so out of sync. It’s beyond frustrating to watch and support in any meaningful way.

Didn't you guys already need a DT and MLB or am I missing something? I'm curious your thoughts on the long term prospects of Mazi Smith and Marquese Bell? Wilson and Kearse seem like adequate safeties, but you wouldn't want an upgrade over these guys?
Both of our teams are in needs of some major retooling at some major positions, so i get where you are coming from. Safety free agent market is super deep this year and I expect both of our teams to dip our toes into that pool. But at the same time, its impossible to plug every roster deficiency.

Sure, but the traits you want for various types of D are different. The lack of cohesion and vision is the true Cowboy way.

Kearse, Wilson, Hooker, even Bell. Loaded at safety. Strongest position group on the team. Wide variety of skill-sets. Perfect for Zim. Losing LVE was bigger than it seemed. Need 2 downhill thumping ILBs. Overshown looked good but he's a lateral pursuit specialist. I doubt he's the answer. Need 2 big strong run stuffing DTs. Love Osa as a situational guy, but he's too small for stopping the run.
