The Giants reportedly offered him $13 million per year after their playoff year in 2022 and Saquon and his agents turned their noses up at it because they wanted $16 million per and felt disrespected, so the Giants were forced to franchise him. He signed for less than what the Giants had offered him to go with the Eagles, so it is disingenuous to act like the Eagle ponied up and gave him the bag the Giants stupidly wouldn't. The Giants accurately pegged his value and Saquon and his agents werent hearing it, but magically came around after the next season when they realized $16 was a fairy tale and the Eagles swooped in and offered him basically what he had rejected a year earlier from the Giants. He had the chance to be a Giant for life and chose not to, and there is no fault in that, he just overestimated what he could get. The Giants are a terrible team with or without Saquon, so tying him up for millions of dollars long-term after last season made no sense. The Eagles on the other had are a team ready to win, so the money makes sense to them.

Wounded New York Giants seem to have no idea who will be playing for them on Sunday
Giants, already with their IR list growing, are dealing with injuries to several key players

"Three players — inside linebacker Bobby Okereke (back), defensive tackle Rakeem Nunez-Roches (neck) and cornerback Deonte Banks (rib) — did not practice on Thursday. That’s down from five who did not practice on Wednesday and were listed by head coach Brian Daboll as “week-to-week.”
In all likelihood, those three players will not be available Sunday.
Offensive tackles Jermaine Eluemunor (quad) and Evan Neal (hip) were practicing on a limited basis.
“Both of those guys will do something today,” Daboll said. “How much, we’ll see.”
Eluemunor missed the game against Dallas with his quad injury. Neal played through that game with his hip injury.
The backup tackles are Chris Hubbard and Joshua Ezeudu. Daboll said the Giants “have got a couple more days to figure that out” in terms of who will actually be available to play on Sunday.
The Nunez-Roches injury is another difficult one for the Giants. They have placed defensive tackles Dexter Lawrence and Armon Watts on IR during the past week. D.J. Davidson (shoulder) and Jordon riley (knee) are also dealing with injuries."
