2024 New York Football Giants (hello darkness my old friend) (2 Viewers)

If Vikes resign Darnold then maybe JJ McCarthy becomes available? He could be Purdy good with Nabers and Travis Hunter, No?

Question:

If the Giants end up with the #2 pick (the Raiders with #1 take Sanders)
Is Cam Ward – Miami the draft pick?
Should the Giants be interested in Sam Darnold and trade the #2 pick for a haul (if they can get a haul)?
I don't want Darnold and I don't know why he would want to come back to NYC anyway. As of now, Cam Ward is the only QB I would be interested in in the 1st round. I don't know if this class, including Ward, really has any 1st round worthy QBs, let alone 1.01 or 1.02 pick. I think I prefer they trade down and get as much as possible. In that case, they would keep Devito as the #3 and then I would like to see them trade for Malik Willis and/or Hendon Hooker and see if they can develop them. They shouldn't be that expensive and if neither of them are going to be long term starters, they can go after a QB in 2026 when the QBs should be better. The last thing I want to see them do is go after a 30+ year old like Carr or Cousins if ATL is shopping him. They have to go with a young QB to develop, whether it's from the draft or trading for a young QB like I mentioned, it has to be in line with a team beginning it's rebuild. I don't think the NYG are too far from that bottom point.

If someone not named Joe Schoen is making the pick,The Giants will pick a generational talent and he will lead them to multiple Super Bowls in his career.

If Joe Schoen is making the pick,The Giants will pick the best player at his position,he will be a very good player, then they will let him walk and he will break all records at his position

Do we trade down or just take Travis? I don’t see how you pass on Hunter if we keep the 1st pick. Sanders and Cam are our biggest need, but not sure if they are worth the 1st Overall pick.

Certainly an option. Trade down take Travis. What would your plan then be at quarterback?

Cousins.

Stink another year, use Cousins as a bridge to a better QB class. I am worried that if they pick any of this year's crop, it just prolongs the pain. I want NOTHING to do with Sanders and the inevitable sideshow he brings with him.

Take Arch! :scream:

I don't think the fan base wants to "stink" another year.
I think they want to see real change and improvement and at least some optimism.
What has Arch shown so far?
He runs.
He wasn't good enough to supplant Ewers who has pretty much underperformed this year.
If they did go the route you suggest I'd rather see them take a shot with Justin Fields rather than Cousins
If he doesn't work out maybe Arch improves enough to be worthy of a high draft pick, which The Giants will more than likely have next year

Problem with that is, with Cousins, you might be drafting around 7-10.

Here's what I would do if my last name was Mara and my first name was John
I'd fire Schoen but keep Dabs
I'd hire an experienced NFL guy as director of football operations
I'd tell him to go get Justin Fields and trade down in the draft to acquire more draft capital, this team has a lot of holes to fill
I'd tell him to draft Travis Hunter
And then go about filling whatever holes he can with the capital left
And be very aggresive in free agency
And if that didn't work I'd sell the team to Steve Cohen

You do realize that Travis Hunter will not be available if you trade down.

Keeping Brian Daboll is like keeping garbage it needs to get dumped. The dude is a douche bag and if he was an offensive guru the offense wouldn't be so horrid.

Then take someone else
The best o-lineman
The best at whatever other position you need help at
Ward and Sanders aren't worth a top pick, imop

How far is arguably the best player in this weak QB class going to fall?
Depends on the draft order
First team that is happy with their qb
Pats,Jags
Could only be #2 or #3 or #4
See how it plays out

I think you kick the can down the line and trade the 1st for more picks next year. That's going to attract the new GM for this team.

With no generational QB available you build up the O-Line and coaching staff... by the time you have you QB, you have some semblance of a line.

also I think you try hard to get a Russell Wilson (like I wanted LAST year) or an older bridge QB not named Kirk Cousins.

What older "bridge" quarterbacks not named Cousins will be available?
Why not a younger "bridge" quarterback who could become permanent like Justin Fields?

I was joking about Arch.

I was not joking about not liking either of the two QBs. Definitely NOT joking about not wanting anything to do with Sanders.

I don't think Wilson is any kind of an answer, bridge or otherwise. Pardon the pun, he's cooked. Not that I am thrilled with Cousins, I just don't see anyone else besides him. I know Falcons fans are quite disillusioned with him despite being in the running for the playoffs. I've not watched enough Falcons games to comment with any real insight. I am not opposed to Fields. I do not think his story has been completely written yet. Are the Steelers going to move on from him? I guess I don't see that happening. Shrugs.

This team has so very many holes. I am pretty sure it won't matter what QB they pick unless they start plugging the defensive holes, continue to improve the OL. (The OL DID take steps forward this year, but it was almost impossible not to, so that is faint praise. ) and to increase depth... everywhere. Oh, and dump that pretender DeVito. That HAS to be move one.

I saw an article recently that listed the worst moves by each team. Despite the opinions of some here, neither signing Jones or not signing Barkley was picked as the worst move. Rather... signing Galoway for his millions and millions was. It was a convincing argument. (One of their points: Tracy has done well, Saquon would not have had the year he is having in Philly behind this GIants Oline. They saved some money with this deal. Not saying Tracy = Saquon, but his yards/carry at 4.6 is above average. Not fault on Tracy but he can't carry the offense.)

Can't disagree with much of this
The one thing I would add is Schoen has to go
Analytics has it's place, but after watching Hard Knocks and seeing his decisions I think he relies on it too much
Not sure about Daboll
He cut his teeth in New England when Brady was there
He had Josh Allen in Buffalo
In New York he's had Daniel Jones,Tyrod Talyor,Drew Locke and Tommy Devito
One things for certain the franchise is a mess
John Mara seems like a nice guy but his hires have been less than stellar
If he fires Schoen I might get excited about the next draft
If Schoen is still there I just don't trust him to take advantage of the top pick in every round
My 2 cents

And Dabs lost the locker room 2-3 years ago

I’m sure it’s in jest but why the clamoring for Steve Cohen to buy the team? This is a salary cap league - Cohen can’t just buy whoever he wants.

I am seeing slightly differently. I am over Dabs. I think he is in over his head and he isn't cool enough under pressure.

I think Schoen is being punished for being dealt a crappy hand. So many of these problems have their roots in the decisions of other GMs (see Galloway for an example). It takes time to turn these types of franchise wrecking decisions around. Schoen knows/knew that Jones wasn't the answer. But his other options sucked more. When it was time to resign him, it was super weak crop and better options didn't exist. The 40Mil was just the cost of QBs today. It wasn't Schoen's fault that the Giants had Jones to begin with. I get the impatience. Sometimes the fans don't get want they want.

My vote: lose Dabs, keep Schoen. I see this as the opposite situation when compared to the root of all this evil when they lost Coughlin and kept Reese.

The Problem with Dabs is he started to take himself too serious , lost weight and worried about his appearance
Fat Dabs 9-7-1 and Playoff victory
Skinny Dabs - Is going to get us the #1 pick in the draft

Look what happened to McAdoo when he became McAhairdoo
Messy Hair Mac 11-5 (Playoffs)
Hollywood Mac - 2-10 (fired)

Rex Ryan got all weird and tranny looking and he'll never coach again!

I want my head coach Fat and Funny !!!!
Andy Reid gets fattier, funnier and betterer as a head coach every season ... He Gets It ! He knows what it takes to be a winning coach in the NFL !!

Syracuse quarterback Kyle McCord
He might get another year of eligibility
If he does
Wait for him
If he's in the draft
Pass on Ward and Sanders
Trade down
Take McCord

Eagles 3rd string QB is better than any QB the Giants have.

Yeah, but Lock will be going up against the Eagles 2nd string defense. While the Eagles QB will be throwing to the 3rd, 4th and 5th WR. With the #3 RB, being blocked for with a backup OL.

Giants can't even ****ing tank right.

This is the same BS 3 years ago where the Giants beat a moribund Colts team that checked out to make the playoffs, and somehow that convinced thousands of Giants fans (NOT TO MENTION A NUMBER OF THEM ON THIS FORUM) that Daniel Jones was a Top 10 QB in the league.

Absolute ****ery.

You can pay Darnold if MIN decides to go with McCarthy. However, that could be another four years of a Daniel Jones-like experience. KOC and the weapons MIN have is Darnold’s best chance at continued success.

Short of signing Kirk Cousins, any vet QB they sign would be better than the nothingburger that is Daniel Jones. Russell Wilson, Sam Darnold, Teddy Bridgewater.... I'll even take immobile Joe Flacco, at least he won't be paid $40 million.

Good,I hope they win next week
I don't think ward or Sanders are worth that high a draft pick
Let other teams take them and deal with them
Wait on Kyle McCord
