2025 Detroit Lions: 2-1 Lions beat Ravens (39 Viewers)

My buddy sent me some close up pictures. Hutchs leg is broken in half, his Leg whipped McNeil right above the ankle and looked like Joe Theisman. Horrible injury.

Maxx has Michigan roots (Tigers fan) but he's firmly ensconced in LV as far as I can tell

shoved the LBs coach on the sidelines today during their blowout loss but quickly got on Twitter to get ahead of it

there's every indication he is all in for the Raiders, ride or die

Who are the lions giving up for these studs. No one is just going to give these guys away lol

teams usually trade picks for a player
Fair enough. You wanna give up early rd picks right now?

I think Brad Holmes has been crushing his job for four years running

whatever he thinks is best for the team, he's earned enough trust to not worry about it one way or another

don't have anyone right now so gonna have to scheme up some pressure until we do (or if we don't)

Hutch was rushed to the hospital for immediate surgery to save his leg. Hopefully the are successful and he can fully recover, but it is extremely serious.

yeah as I understand it, emergency surgery ASAP to prevent Alex Smith-like issues.

Worry about artery and nerve shear/laceration damage.

Team put out compound tibia fracture, no mention of fibula

Absolutely. The Lions window is right now.

eff them picks

may never see a season like this again, the NFL shuts those windows quickly

I know they're thinking long term but you have to capitalize on the team you've got assembled rn

We had the pieces to win this year. Last year as it turned out, we were just a couple of good CBs away. This year we are now critically deficient at DE. I agree we need to go for it. We have a solid three year window still, but each year that passes is a missed opportunity. We need to find a way to get that final piece.

I mean they named the field at Eastern after him

We were 30 minutes away from a Super Bowl last year. I’m all in at this point
The rest of the NFC North keeps getting better too. Lions need to win the division.

All four teams are good right now. All gas no brakes, it's gonna be a junkyard dog fight just to win the division.

I'm confident Brad will do something. We've lost both starting Edge, it would be malpractice to not address it.

S Kerby Joseph has produced 4+ INTs in each of his first three-career seasons.

The last NFL safety to do so was Ed Reed (2002-04).

#OnePride

Lions have started at least 4-1 in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1970-71.

K Jake Bates produced 17 points today. This ties for the 3rd-most points scored in a game by a Lions kicker and are the most since K Jason Hanson produced 19 points vs. Minnesota on Oct. 17, 1999.

The only QBs in NFL history to produce a QB rating of 150.0+ in consecutive games (15 attempt minimum):

1. Jared Goff (2024)
2. Drew Brees (2018)

Goff is the only QB since the 1970 AFL/NFL merger to have a completion percentage of 80.0%+ and a passer rating of 140.0+ over any three-game span (50 attempt. minimum).

David Montgomery is the 10th player in NFL history to produce at least 70 scrimmage yards and a rushing TD in each of the first five games of a season.

S Kerby Joseph is the first Lion to produce an interception in 4 of the first 5 games since 1981.

Brian Branch is the second Lions player to have 2 INT and a FF in the same game, joining Dré Bly.

The Lions have scored 89 points over their last two games.

This is their most points in any two-game span since 1962.

Sunday marks the first time Detroit has scored 47+ points in a game since 2011.

The first RB duo in NFL history to each produce 70+ scrimmage yards in each of the first five games of a season:

Lions RBs David Montgomery & Jahmyr Gibbs

The first six receiving TDs of Lions WR Jameson Williams' career have all been on pass plays of 30+ yards.

He is the first player in franchise history to have his first six receiving TDs come on 30+ yard pass plays.

RB David Montgomery has six rushing TDs this season, tied for the most rushing TDs a Lions player has ever logged through the first five games of a season.

He is the only player in franchise history to ever do this on two occasions.

:sadbanana:

Dating back to last season, Lions ED Aidan Hutchinson has produced 2+ QB hits in eight-straight games.

This ties for the NFL's longest streak since the data began being collected in 2006.

David Montgomery has played 19 games for the Lions.

- He has rushed for a TD in 16 games (84.2%).
- He has rushed for 50+ yards in 15 games (78.9%).
- He has rushed for 50+ yards and a TD in 13 games (68.4%).

Sam LaPorta caught a 52-yard TD, his first of the season.

It's the longest TD catch by a Lions TE since David Sloan had a 74-yard TD in 1999.

The only QBs in Lions history to have three 50+ yard TD passes within the first five games of a season:

1). 3, Jared Goff, 2024
2). 3, Greg Landry, 1971
3). 3, Earl Morrall, 1963

In his first four games of the season, Lions DB Brian Branch has accumulated 8 PDs & 2 INTs.

The last NFL safety to produce these numbers through a player's first four games of a season was Pro Football HOF S Ed Reed in 2012.

Monty is the first Lion player to score a TD in the first 5 games of a season. He has now scored a TD in 8 straight games, setting another Lions record.

Taylor Decker is now 3rd on the club's alltime list for most starts by an OT.

1. Jeff Backus (191)
2. Lomas Brown (163)
3. Taylor Decker (116)

Next Gen Stats Passing Chart

Jared Goff completed 6-of-7 passes for 178 yards and 2 touchdowns under pressure against the Cowboys, his most passing yards under pressure over the last five seasons, and the most by a quarterback in a game this season.

Sam LaPorta's 52-yard touchdown reception was his 7th TD on an open target since 2023 (3+ yards of separation), tied with teammate Amon-Ra St. Brown for most in the NFL over the last two seasons.

The Super Bowl is 3 months, 27 days away (17 weeks.)

AI - how long to recover from a compound fracture of the tibia?

A compound fracture of the tibia, or shinbone, can take several months to heal, and in some cases may take a year or longer:
  • Healing time
A tibia fracture typically heals in 4–6 months, but can take longer if the fracture is open or comminuted.

Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are going to remember the Lions rubbing it in their face today. This is escalating into a blood feud rivalry.

Per Stoney, text from a "close family member" who responded to him last night. Wouldn't say who but from the pronouns he used I presume it was his father, Dr Chris Hutchinson.

Stoney: thoughts & prayers, hope Hutch is doing as best as can be expected, etc.

close [male] family member:

Thanks so much. Even though it looked bad, it's less of an injury than he suffered in college. Pretty soon he will be bionic.

When we make it to the Super Bowl, he will be ready to go.

If that came from his dad - ER physician at Beaumont Hospital - then I'd say there's an outside chance he suits up in New Orleans February 9.

Basically forced to make a move now. Hutch was moved to both ends, inside, outside, double teamed. Pretty sure Holmes was scouring rosters all night. With 2 games left with Minny, GB and now Da Bears. The division is no cakewalk.

Is James Houston getting any snaps?

So our current DE's are Levi (1.5 sacks) and Pascal (0 sacks)? That is kind of brutal. We are going to have to get creative or even do a bit a scheme change. At least we are still very good on the interior. Brad, Dan and Aaron have some work to do. Look forward to see what they do.

Probably was his dad as his dad was on Stoney's show a lot during COVID getting interviewed about what was going on as he works at Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. This was when his dad was more famous for his Michigan career and nobody knew Aiden.

I see Hutch's mom and dad at the gym 2-3 times a week. The mom does not talk or even look at anyone. Hoodie, sunglasses, headphones and just walks the treadmill. Chris his dad who looks just like him but shorter is more personable. The only people who know who he is are probably the workers and me as I see a couple of workers always talking to him.

I have never talked to him even though we have been right next to each other many times. If I see him in the near future I am going to wish his son well for sure. Like my wife said to me last night. Right now they are like any other parents at the hospital with their child.

Houston was inactive again. It does not look like he is in their plans currently. Okwu will be seeing more snaps. They may use Houston in very limited circumstances. Would not surprise me if Houston is part of a trade package if they do trade for someone. As of now it is Pascal and Levi who do not look like the answer. Levi may be serviceable.

Houston must not be doing something right. The guy goes from getting 8-9 sacks, and a bunch or pressures in half a season to not even getting on the field.

Houston has disappointed the coaching staff in not developing into more of a complete player. Houston probably does not feel wanted and is not focused and is making mistakes in the few oppprtunities he does see. It is probably like the Swift situation where there is just not a culture fit.

Is James Houston getting any snaps?

Bendy Gumby guys who abandon lanes and can’t set an Edge don’t work in this scheme. In a different kind of defensive scheme, he might be as valuable as Ojalari.

His last game vs Seattle on MNF perfectly illustrates where his game is at right now. 13 times he rushed the passer; no sacks, no hits, one hurry, two penalties (1 declined). On one outside rush he tried out his super low move inside, and the LT pancaked him. With one hand. Pass rush grade for the night was 55.8, overall football grade 29.5. Lowest of any player in any phase for the night.

2024 - PFF Grade 29.6 2 g 17 snaps
2023 - PFF Grade 45.2 3g 42 snaps
2022 - PFF Grades Week 18 46.3 30 snaps, Rogers got to jump offsides on a hard count.

Can’t cover, too light to play the run, too undisciplined to set an edge. If they do him a solid and trade or release him, he’ll probably be a Vonn Miller-type specialist and there’s a good chance he be a good player.

But he’s all but dead in Detroit.

IMO

Difficult to imagine as to why he had so much success in only 8 games his rookie year when DC was gushing about him, to what is going on now. I thought we had bookend sack artists for years to come. the SOD.

Kyle Peko left & did not return with a pectoral. Haven’t heard how serious.

Two EDGE options that are more likely than Crosby:

Trey Hendrickson, 29, CIN (2-4)
- Played on the Saints while Campbell was assistant head coach & AG was the defensive backs coach from 2017-20

(seems dumb as the Bengals offense is cooking after their perennial slow start, but Mike Brown has no wealth beyond the franchise + does dumb **** all the time; he’d probably love to dump $15M off the payroll a year early)

Harold Landry III, 28, TEN (1-4)
- Played under Lions DL coach Terrell Williams from 2018-23 on the Titans.

Maxx Crosby would be beyond amazing from every perspective. Their owner is similar to Brown, no wealth besides the team. But Maxx is the face of the franchise & seems to love it there. Doubt that one is realistic.

I would pretty much give whatever it took for Crosby. The window is now.

I wanted them to add more last season and wasn't thrilled with signing Davenport. Seemed like the cheap way out.
Now isn't the time to be cheap.

On another note. The uniform combo yesterday looked great.

The blue and silver with all white and the blue Detroit across the front is a winner. Best uniform move Lions ever made was ditching the dirty all grays.
