Lions announce roster moves:
Elevated LB Anthony Pittman and T Dan Skipper from the Practice Squad to the Active/Inactive list
Downgraded G Jonah Jackson to Doubtful for Sunday's game vs. Washington
***************
Drew Forbes and Kayode Awosika as potential options to replace Jackson on the left side. Detroit claimed Forbes via the Cleveland Browns ahead of its first game. The Lions added Awosika from Philadelphia’s practice squad earlier this week. Forbes has appeared in four games across three seasons. Awosika saw action in one for the Eagles last year.
LT - Taylor Decker (calf/off injury report)
LG - Unknown - Pro Bowl guard Jonah Jackson (figner) likely out
C - Evan Brown playing for Pro Bowl center Frank Ragnow (foot)
RG - Logan Stenberg - had 4 career NFL snaps before last week
RT - Penei Sewell
Forbes has been with the team less than two weeks, Awosika since Wednesday.
Sewell has never played guard as a pro. Actually, he can't remember the last time he played G - probably high school. He's been taking some reps there this week and took some during TC. It's possible the Lions move him inside and start Matt Nelson at RT. That would leave Dan Skipper as the backup T (OL typically play 100% of snaps.) Awosika is also a T and presumably on the active roster since we pouched him off the Eagles PS. Forbes, if he doesn't start, is the only other backup.

It's depressing thinking about the OL injuries. Something a little more lighthearted.
The new T, Kayode Awosika, is Nigerian.
Of course he is; we lead the league in Nigerians. As someone joked at the Lions Nigerian Independence Day dinner last October, there's almost enough for a soccer team:
- Kayode Awosika T
- Rookie Obinna Eze, practice squad T
- DT Levi Onwuzurike
- DE Julian Okwara
- LB Romeo Okwara
- CB Jeff Okudah
- CB Amani Oruwariye
- S Ifeatu Melifonwu
There's like 100+ African players in the NFL this year, kind of cool almost 10% of them are with Detroit. One of my groomsmen, Oluwasseun, became a Lions fan - and recruited three of his Nigerian friends to follow suit - solely because the connection.
Oh, about that soccer team...
- Final cut RB Godwin Igwebuike (also Nigerian)
- Final cut DE Jashon Cornell (Cameroon)
- FB Jason Cabinda (Cameroon)
