2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Happy trails Derek - one a Raider always a Raider ☠ (36 Viewers)

The instant giver uppers in here after week 1 were sad
The last two decades called to say hello.
But I agree that game 1 was indeed close and winnable, just deflating in how it fell apart against a division rival we should’ve been able to beat.

Too many people here and elsewhere underestimated Jim Harbaugh. Dude is a kook, but also an elite coach. At least until his teams grow tired of his kookiness.

i don’t get some raider fans, as of week 2 Minshew is tied for second for passing yards, and leads the league in completions and completion percentage. @Chaka what more do you want?
LOL I'm ride-or-die Raiders does anyone in here sincerely question that? After this long? But please don't ask me for blind optimism anymore. That's an unfair expectation.

We've all been down the "hope springs eternal" path. 20+ times since that actually panned out for anything.

Minshew leads the league in completions because the Raiders are last in the league in rushing with 49 total yards after two games (19 yards behind the 31st team) and 2.5 ypc (next worse is 3.2).

Don't you want more?

This upcoming game is an absolute trap that the Raiders would 100% lose in years past after such a big win.

What I want is to have won the game they should have against the Chargers and to win the game they should win this week. Let's see what happens.

I think the thing with Minshew is he has a history of playing really well and then playing really bad. It is hard to believe that that will change now. Possible? Sure. Likely? No.

Add in a couple of decades of usually bad breaks for the Raiders... yea, I understand the 'SQUIRREL!' of the possibility of another QB. This team has proven the defense is absolutely what we hoped it would be and there are plenty of weapons on the offense to be effective. A QB that can be consistently good will go a long way with this team.

Consistently good. Agree entirely.
Listing the offensive skill position players shows that we can stack up against any team (though running game is disappointing so far but proved to be very good to wrap up the end of last season. Concerns of new O coordinator creeping in).

Minshew needs to not make dumb mistakes and put the ball in the hands of the studs.

It sounds like JPJ is ready to go, looking forward to him hopefully having an impact with the running game.

Having Marvin Lewis as an assistant coach should give us all the scouting we need on Andy Dalton.

Crosby giving that pep talk to Minshew after the pick may have saved Minshew's career, Crosby is the face of the Raiders and I'm all in for it.

I dubbed my own words to it "Listen little *** boy..... we got your back. Got it? We got your back."

Re: Bowers. That first reception was outstanding, both the throw and catch. Minshew put ball about the only place he could and it was a difficult place but Bowers really showed how good his hands are with an all-world reception. I don't see him dropping too many balls this season.
Imagine how good Bowers could be if they get the flat passes going. Can't tell if it's drawn up lousy, blocked lousy or the timing was lousy. But they were...lousy.
A little concerned with Bowers' ball security. When he was getting spun in circles twice at the goal line I thought he was ripe for a punch out. Of course it's probably difficult to punch the ball from a spinning target.

Upcoming game: gotta jump ahead early and then be relentless. Don't give Dalton time to get his feet under him and get some confidence.
Panthers are next to last in league in yards allowed rushing. If the Raiders are gonna have any semblance of a rushing attack this season it probably needs to start Sunday because Upshaw and Shell and Vella and Otto and Bob Brown aren't coming through that door.

I maligned Pierce after Week 1 for the 4th and 1 chicken out and his seeming lack of in-game awareness overall. Props to him for the fourth and 2 (aggressive) call last Sunday.
I also want to give him a shout out for the disciplined ball the team has been playing since he got the gig last year. Countless Raiders coaches for decades have been saying we've got to be more disciplined and rein in all the penalties.. Pierce is the only one who's gotten the job done to the tune of a league best 5 for 30 yards this season. Well done.

This might be the most amazing stat. This is unprecedented in my lifetime

Throw in the factor that they were completely embarrassed last time they met , if anyone was UP for kicking the raiders azzes it was the Chargers...revenge is a great motivator , meanwhile im assuming the Raiders felt like all they had to do was show up to win.

The next time they meet ,the Raiders will be the ones with something to prove , bank it.

I find this to be incredibly promising and a legitimate reason for hope.

Then again the referees and the NFL hate the Raiders and will ###$ them over eventually.

If true, that reflects negatively on the Raiders, whether coaches or players or both. That same Chargers team last season beat the Raiders early in the season. Yeah, the Raiders kicked their *** in the second meeting, but that was with Easton Stick at QB for the Chargers. And since then, the Chargers replaced Telesco with Hortiz (upgrade) and the Staley coaching staff with the Harbaugh coaching staff (massive upgrade).

I have a hard time buying your assumption as stated here. I think the Raiders coaches and players are smarter than that.

Not me. I wanted the Raiders to hire him.

But I do believe the Raiders should have won that game.

Put Cam Ward on your watch list for 2025 Raiders QB.

I've seen each of his games, and he's likely to be among the top 3 guys, IMO. Has a pro arm, and his calmness in the pocket is remarkable. It stands out. If I had to bet on a guy that the NFL isn't too fast for, it's him. Has some flair to his game, and when he's taking risks, he can look like Jameis Winston. But he can also look like Burrow.

Which is similar to Shedeur, actually. But Cam Ward's father isn't Prime Time, is he?

My working theory is that Carson Beck goes earlier than we picking, so among the rest, I prefer Ward. Kind of by a lot, right now. I dunno about Ewers. I have questions. And Sanders is Sanders, no one wants that circus.

Raiders DE Malcolm Koonce (knee) out for season

Sat Sep 21 12:22pm ET
Field Level Media
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Malcolm Koonce will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury sustained before Week 1, multiple media outlets reported.

The Athletic reported Reed will undergo surgery next week.

Koonce, who was placed on injured reserve Sept. 8, recorded eight sacks and three forced fumbles last season. He is due to become an unrestricted free agent in March.

Koonce, 26, has totaled 55 tackles and 10 sacks in 39 career games (11 starts) since being selected by the Raiders in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Any word on maxx and Wilkins ? Both questionable. Wilson too.
Raiders declared RB Dylan Laube, LB Divine Deablo, CB Decamerion Richardson, WR Tyreik McAllister, OG Jordan Meredith, and WR Ramel Keyton inactive for Week 3 against the Panthers.
The sixth-round rookie impressed during camp and preseason but has now been inactive for the first three games of the regular season, with Zamir White, Alexander Mattison, and special teams ace Ameer Abdullah the active backfield members throughout the season.

Lotta talk leading up to Panthers game about the Raiders proclivity to lose to back up quarterbacks in games they should win. Not too worried about that here, primarily due to Pierce. He was 4-1 last year against subpar or backup quarterbacks, the only loss to Josh Dobbs. The Raiders beat Daniel Jones/Tommy DeVito, Zach Wilson, Easton Stick and Jarrett Stidham. And aside from the Jets game, the Raiders won each game handily.
No reason they shouldn't be able to handle an aging (ageless?) Andy Dalton unless they're overly amped up for the game and fail fundamentally or commit a bundle of turnovers.

Masterson looked absolutely lost on that drive, he was a non factor and pretty much had us playing with 10 defensive players that drive.

Apologies, I know my frankness and opinions aren't necessarily popular in here. Please understand I am saying it all from a place of love for this franchise.

I hope they come back and win, I truly do, but this game shouldn't even be close. If the Raiders can't stomp these guys at home then they need to tank in the hope they land a franchise QB.

Give me all the stats about which QB was drafted where, I don't care. Just go out and at least try to get a franchise QB.

Picking 15th ish again? Fine, trade the farm to go get your guy.

And sell the other farm to go get Ben Johnson as the HC. Love or hate AP I don't want him and freaking Luke Getsy to develop a rookie QB. I'll risk it on the guy who's making Jared Goff a $50 million dollar man.

No, I get it. They aren’t just losing, they’re getting their a$$@$ kicked.
How you go from world-beater to laughing stock in a matter of one week is mind boggling…

I’d love for some linebackers that can tackle, it’s been years since we’ve had linebackers that can make a difference

Okay. So not only a bad loss, but a game that is over with 13 minutes left in the fourth quarter...at home.

Time to trade Davante and... no, not even I will say it. But they need as much draft capital as possible, AP needs to go and it needs to be torn down to the studs.

WHO'S WITH ME?

Line of scrimmage lost badly today on both sides of the ball. Crushing blow today for AP regime.

This team has played just one good quarter out of 12 so far this year. If not for that one anomaly, they'd be 0-3. FACTS.

As much as I like and supported AP, this is a disasterous start for his first year as full-time Head Coach. Getsy hire absolutely killing him, and honestly, AP deserves to he fired if he lets this nonsense offense continue.

I knew this topic was coming but I didn’t think it would be today. It is time to figure out a way to move Davante. Until the team can draft early a couple of years and actually draft like a functioning NFL franchise, this team is going nowhere. Sorry AP. You didn’t stand a chance.

This was the Panthers today. The game was not about a lack of talent.

Let's be honest there isn't a ton of talent on the front line of the roster, let alone depth.

So AOC next week?
He cant scramble like GM but he just looks so much more poised throwing the ball . The scoring TD was made while running from the pocket sooooo.....

Yes but he also threw what should have been a leave-an-awful-taste, game-ending INT just prior to that throw.

Honestly, it doesn't matter who the QB is, if the OC is awful. Zero faith right now of Getsy righting this ship. The one and only chance AP has is to do the unthinkable and fire Getsy tomorrow. It would be a hail mary that would very likely flop in its own right, but there is zero hope otherwise. Kermie Mahomes would flop right now with this OL and running game.

Id take Bo Hardegree back over Getsy , cuz Getsy just dont get it

I don't have the games on here so serious question - are we really ready to bury the guy after three weeks? This one seems like it's on the D, we just got sliced up by a left-for-dead former QB.
