2025 Las Vegas Raiders thread - ☠ Matadors on the O-line ☠ (12 Viewers)

Pete Carroll was on Sirius saying that's exactly what they wanted from Geno and the offense.

I was shocked.
Sooo many short throws and why couldn't the Titans cover the TE when everyone knew he'd pass there. I expected more deep and mid range passes and...just more. It looked very stale to me

The rookie o line players don’t stand a chance with this current coaching

Why is it so dang hard for this organization to land a proper coaching staff?!? It's been freaking coaching groundhogs for way too long.
Because the guy at the top settles for losers.
Pete Carroll, John Spytek & Tom Brady are losers?

I was very vocally not in favor of the Carroll hire but, not because he's a "loser".

Until they fire Brennan Carroll, the game plan has to be fore Geno to get the ball out as quick as possible.

Once you join a perpetually losing franchise ,you become a loser

I didn’t want him mostly because he is old

Pete isn't going to fire his son. He brought him on even though he consistently did not perform in Seattle. Will Brady/Spytek force it? Maybe, but not during the season. They might find a way to get him a graceful exit for him and Pete to save face. The line play has been bad. I am not sure if that is the reason Geno's play has been bad. I know from the Bears game that he was getting sucked into the defense baiting him. I would say that that was just the Bears doing a good job but it has been a consistent theme this season.

The line play isn't overly shocking but Geno's just huge regression has shocked me. I really thought that Chip Kelly was a real NFL OC, that Geno could have above average QB play and that we had play makers to make it work well. I was wrong.

The Bowers injusy has also been huge. He has not been healthy since week 1 when they looked pretty good. The run blocking has been bad all season. The pass blocking has also been bad, but the Bowers injury is a big reason the pass offense has not been good.

And you are right Pete is not firing his son. I could see a move to being a different position group coach maybe, but he's not getting fired.

I think both things can be true, and each are shinning an brighter light on the other. The OL stinks, and Geno has regressed further than anyone thought was possible. Of the 10 (TEN!!!) interceptions his already thrown, I think 8 of them are solely on him. Just super bad decisions and worse throws into double to triple coverage.

I was speaking generally about the coaching staffs for the last couple of decades. There have been a lot of head scratching moves. It’s still early to make determinations regarding Pete but it’s been disappointing so far.

Coach Carrol and team disappointing :(
Not much Pete can do here - the failure is personnel. The OL stinks, we didn't make any attempt to fix it, and the Jeanty pick was awful because even if he's elite we can't leverage it behind that OL. Not all of this is on Brady/whatever is lapdog's name is, we've whiffed on talent for a long time, but we have to prioritize key positions like OL and secondary and haven't done it. I know people are going to harp on the OL coach being Pete's son but I'm not ready to bury him after less than 1/2 a season just yet.

Yup.

OL, OL and more OL this offseason. Build the offense from there.

So you’re saying there’s room for improvement.

I'm saying they hit rock bottom and Coach Pete just sent me a text asking if he could borrow some of my shovels.

I do believe, despite pathetic stats, that Jeanty is legit special but, I am comfortable saying that I was right back in April when I was stumping for Kelvin Banks (or Membou).

You can't be competitive with this OL.

This team would stink at digging ditches. Waste of some good shovels.
