2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-4, Currently hold the #4 pick in the draft. (10 Viewers)

Hope Tua’s “back” is OK for Thurs.

That was a gruelling win to have to turn around and play mid week. The schedule makers didn’t do them any favours.

Big thumbs up to the D for holding in there against 90 plays!

I was adamant after 4 weeks we would know what we have.

Well after week 3 I can say.....we have a team. We finally have a team.

As @TripleThreat said. We still have a lot to work on. But we have a coach who the players are playing for. And he has built a scheme around the best talents Tua has.

Tua still has plenty of work to do and he does have some limitations. But the one thing I am seeing that is very encouraging is his maturity level and soaring confidence as a leader. That is what I never saw in 2020 and 2021. He is oozing confidence and making big time throws in big time moments.

I am thrilled. I have been his biggest critic. But so far.....so good. On to Cincy for TNF on a short week after a brutal, physical game vs the Bills. If we somehow come out at 4-0 (I am not expecting it to be honest) wow.....but even 3-1 is huge and a great start to a brutal early season schedule.

McDaniel really is bringing out the best in Tua.

Lots to work on but lots to work with.
I post endlessly in this thread sometimes, I really don't have a lot to criticize right now. We can dissect and ask more questions when we roll to Thursday but I'm going to enjoy these wins, they haven't happened in so long. A lot of Miami haters in my FF Redrafts wanting to squelch some of the juice from these victories and I would rather bask in the glow for a bit.

I really don't care about the Cinci game and again just want us off the field healthy and ready for what should be a slightly softer part of our schedule where we can work on the running game more.

I might be having a bromance with Mike McDaniel

Icing on the cake for us Dolphin fans yesterday was SF losing a close one in the night cap and now sitting at 1-2.
I have no delusions. This isn't going to be Houston Texans 2020 but the Niners appear like a .500 team.

Assume Miami makes it into the Playoffs this year, even if we don't go that deep into the Playoffs, you add a 15th-20th pick overall to that group, Miami could mortgage a little future and move up if they need a QB which right now that looks less and less like a need plus we have Skyler to develop in the off season and he could easily be the No 2 on this team next year with some fans wanting him to start.

Earl Morral and Don Strock were excellent back up QBs and Don Shula was not afraid to use them.
Griese threw 7 pass in SB VII
Tua threw 18 passes yesterday in a modern passing NFL 50 years later

These are the things I think about when trying to understand if Miami is really good or not, they emulate other eras when I saw success here. It's time to start showing similarities.

And I've seen enough of Teddy Bridgewater - he looked horrible yesterday.
Doubt he took any 1st team reps or any in practice all season. Just saying he went in cold but he didn't exactly look like a calm cool leader.
I agree with you but he it might not be the best picture of what he could do here.

They now have an eight-game home winning streak and this is the team’s longest since a 10-game stretch from Dec. 17, 1984 to Sept. 14, 1986. The eight-game streak is the longest in Hard Rock Stadium history.

:headbang:

Tagovailoa’s start to 2022 has seen him throw for 925 passing yards on 71.3% passing with eight touchdowns and only two interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 92.5 and leads the NFL in yards per pass attempt at 9.2. He’s also second in the league in passer rating at 117.8.

Jaylen Waddle has the second most receiving yards to start a Miami Dolphins season since Mark Clayton in 1986. Waddle has 342 yards through three games, and Clayton started 1986 off with 411 yards in the first three contests

Per the Miami Dolphins communication department, Jaylen Waddle’s four receptions in Week 3 give him 123 in his first 19 career games. With his 20th game still to go, it’s already the second-most in NFL history through a player’s first 20 career games. Odell Beckham Jr. is first with 141 receptions.

Ok with all the good vibes going….I am concerned with Jalen Phillips play. I really keyed in on watching him most downs yesterday and in one on one matchups….his motor is not nearly revving like it did in the second half of 2021, when they just put him down at RE and let him loose.

He looks sluggish right now. We need a lot more production out of him to be succesfull. We can’t survive a deep Post Season run playing cover 0 and blitzing the likes of Allen, Mahomes or Burrow. Just not gonna work long term.

We need pressure from our front 4 and mix in that disguised blitz when we need it and the right down and distance calls for it.

In reality….Allen really carved us up yesterday but we made just enough big plays to pull that game out. I don’t think yesterday was a blueprint for longterm success in the post season.

I know it sounds a little crazy being we are 3-0 but hey…just keeping it grounded. We gotta get better defensively with a traditional pass rush to play vs elite guys like them.

That's one way to look at it I guess
Let’s be real about it. We are 3-0 and I am very excited and really pumped for this team. It’s been well over 20 years since we have had something real to cheer about give or take 3 isolated seasons since #13’s retirement.

So digging into the actual game yesterday….we were very fortunate to win. And the reason we won was some big turning point plays. And yes you gotta have those to win close games.

But dig deeper and that was one observation that is sticking out. We gotta get better defensively. 8 outta 10 times we don’t win a game like that with the final numbers we saw.

It was a great win. It felt great. It was exciting. All of it.

We can be even better and this team and coach knows it. That to me is even more exciting.

Another note. Byron Jones returning Week 5 is going to be huge.

That buys our pass rush another .5 seconds….it’s that important.

Exciting man….just exciting.

As an aside, surprised Landry doesn't hold that record. He was such a short range target monster.

Basic difference between this Miami team and the ones we have seen in the past is this team plays with the intensity we have only seen in south Florida by your Miami heat! Defense seems to still be a work in progress but they do not quit and the offense is bailing them out. The post pass to Waddle on 3rd and 22 reminded me of Marino. The fact this team FINALLY has the balls to just throw it deep and let the WRs go get it is the main difference.

This was a signature win. The SoFLa sun deserves a game ball as well for sure, but I've never ever ever seen a team be washed on Offense bc they were on the field too much. Kudos to the Phins staff getting them conditioned for September in Miami (as opposed to the Nick Saban memorial bubble that used to make us soft).

Nice call on fitness Gatorman reminded me a Point of emphasis was made that they work themselves to the bone in individuals and then are tired for the team drills.

Have we been number 1 in any power ranking since the 80s? This was fun to see...https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34670270/nfl-week-4-power-rankings-2022-1-32-poll-plus-rating-qbs

Has anyone watched Coach Vass breakdown film before? He's a defensive coach that typically breaks down film to teach concepts coaches.
Here he breaks down the D film with Kyle Crabbs film junky ...
I ended up smarter after watching it.
