2025 Miami Dolphins - 1-6, Currently hold the #2 pick in the draft. (9 Viewers)

Armstead likely out 2-3 weeks at least
Not good when we are about to play our most difficult 3 week stretch, all on the road.
It definitely will impact what I project when Armstead gave up NO SACKS all season and Miami gave up like 4 in 10 plays when he exited the game, that's not good.

Miami is 8-3, I hope they can find their way to 9-5 before they face the Packers, Patriots and Jets to close the season.
Not a good time to have your OL decimated.
We could be looking at Greg Little at LT and Shell at RT, Liam Eichenberg will be making his way back but he might be done at LG as Robert jones has looked a little better since filling in.
We might have to put Eichenberg at one of the Tackle spots where he set up as a Rookie, uh huh oh I know how you feel
Just wait until Sunday rolls around and Nick Bosa is about to snap Tua into Two
It was a fun ride while it lasted
I just pray we don't sustain another major injury to our starting 22 this Sunday, survive and live to fight the Chargers the week after, they have a much better chance in that game.
Miami can beat San Fran but it will require some turnovers by Jimmy G

I have no expectations this week for Miami, especially with Armstead out, but the good news is this game doesn't matter all that much.

Lets hear it for Miami being flexed into sunday night vs the chargers and possibly the following week vs the bills.

MM just said that Armstead is going to try to play on Sunday, which would be huge. Austin Jackson is likely out, but honestly, who cares. Dude is a bust until he proves otherwise which I suspect wont happen. This game seems pretty important to me. All of them do. I want that division title and I want that bye!

Thanks for sharing. That first one in particular is awesome - that MM used Tua as a way to help lure Armstead to Miami. We got very lucky with MM.
a breath of fresh air.

the second is man near explosive, when you combine that with what I just read on a private discord... mind blowing. NGL I'll be surprised when Flo gets a head gig

The really interesting thing to wonder here is last year Miami wanted to hire Mike McDaniel to be their OC, but the niners elevated him to keep him away from Miami.

So in an alternate universe Miami gets McDaniel as an OC and Flo is the coach with his toxic relationship with Grier still front and center and Mike McD's impression of Tua being the polar opposite of what Flo thinks of Tua. The O line issues would have been less, but they still have no center or LT to run Mikes scheme and they have Devante Parker instead of hill.

The whole thing would have been a bigger nightmare bc then McDaniel would have been part of the whole disfunction and maybe the genius doesn't show through...

I have faith in McDaniel for the long term not just 1 game or 1 week so i won't put too much on this weekend.
Still I would like to see him showcase that he understands Miami will be weaker at Tackle on both sides and makes adjustments.
I expect a close game either way but I definitely have my fan boy eyes set on a Miami upset today
Tua is like 13-1 last 14 starts where he finishes the game, need him to stay upright at all costs today, throw it away, look silly doing it but live to throw another Down.

-I believe the Miami Defense will take center stage today. I think they can force a turnover here and there, perhaps get some short field for Tua to exploit.
Go Phins!

How do our RB's play today, MoP. They are grinders and I would imagine would like to run it down their throat as well.
Jeff Wilson, Jr. is the guy I have to decide on today. To play him, or sit him this week. Got Tua in the line up.

I have him sitting behind Tony Pollard in my Flex

CMS and RS in my 2 RB slots
Perine on my bench as well, wish I could play him.

Jeff Wilson, Jr. sits on my bench in two leagues just behind my Flex plays as well. Still rooting for him and MIA to break SF D and score at least 10 points in the second half. Offense vs Defense. Defense keeps Wilson on my bench. Tua vs Watson - still going Tua. Best of skill, MoP.

John Giesler-Left Tackle 1984 for Miami, this was Marino's 2nd Season and the record breaker
He started all 16 games and was a 1979 1st Rd pick out of Michigan
Never made a Pro Bowl but had a 10 year career
Marino never had to run for his life when he first took snaps including his HoF Center Dwight Stephenson

LG-C-RG all started 16 games, never missed a start.
Cleveland Green was the Right Tackle and he started 12 games, most of his career

That was a gut punch. We just lost to a 7th round rookie. Tua looked like by far the lesser QB in this game. That was just awful. Felt like old times.

The defense can't generate much pressure without blitzing, aside from Phillips who seems to be a second away from a sack on multiple plays. Coach MM needs to run a little more.

I don't have a lot of negative comments to make.
The team played hard and ran into another team that is not QB reliant in order to win football games.
I will be a lot happier when we take out the Chargers next week.
If we win in Los Angeles next weekend, it won't matter what Buffalo does W/L, the Division will be up for grabs in Week 15 and I doubt most thought we would be competing for the Division at Buffalo at the end of the year, that's what you play for and it will be an impossible game but that's how we will measure where we are, not a road game inter conference vs San Fran, doubt we will see them again this season, doubt they last very long in the Playoffs without Jimmy G who did suffer a broken foot and will be gone for the rest of the year, I do feel bad for Jimmy G, i liked him and could see him finding his way here or the Jets next season.

Niners D played well, but if you watched the game it was probably the most inaccurate Tua has been all year, even when the pocket was clean. He looked bad, and I am among the biggest Tua supporters out there - just being real here. The SF D is really good but Tua was not himself yesterday. Hopefully.

MOP, you are handling this a lot better than I am. You make a good point about the week 15 game being the season. But...we got a gift with a 7th round rookie coming in for JG and we blew it. Tua did not look like an MVP candidate - he looked more like Josh Rosen on a decent day. I know its just one game and I remain optimistic for the future but this one stung. He missed on so many throws that he has made with ease all season. He was under pressure but given the OT situation, I felt like he had plenty of clean pockets to work with. It was not like the second half in Houston where he was getting blown up on every play. Even in the clean pockets, he looked bad. Hearing that he had an ankle injury coming in - possible it threw off his timing. Hoping that was what it was and that he doesn't revert back to 2020 form, lose confidence, and crush our souls. Also, I hate how I have to hold my breath every time he gets touched by a defender and hope he gets up.

I have been one of the biggest Tua detractors since we drafted him. He has earned a lot of equity with me this season. He is human. He had a bad game. All great QB’s have bad games too.

I am chalking this one up to simply a bad day. Because he did have plenty of time on numerous throws that he flat out missed. And he has made those same throws all season.

The Charger defense is flat out.....bad. We should bounce back offensively. Where my concern lies more and more is with our defense. We simply are not that good. I have no confidence in Boyer as our DC. I think he stinks. Our pass rush is subpar for having guys like Chubb, Phillips and yes Wilkins (who has been a beast this year vs the run). Van Kinkel has been hit or miss this year too. We play far too much bend don’t break. And while I realize we are missing Byron Jones who is proving more and more each week he is the secret sauce to this defense which allowed X to flourish with his athleticism and picks and allowed us to run a lot of cover zero.....we should have been throwing the kitchen sink more often at a green 7th round rookie QB making his NFL debut off the bench in a tie game. We did not blitz enough in key spots.

But even with all that......the defense kept us in the game and the offense simply could not take advantage enough. We left a lot of yards on the field. Too many missed passes by Tua and sprinkle in a few drops that killed drives. Also....we made no attempt to establish a running game yesterday....which annoyed me.

Back to the Charger game......their OL is in shambles. Herbert is running for his life every week. How they have 6 wins missing both starting tackles and at one time their top 3 WR’s (still missing two of them)......two words. Justin Herbert. He is special. And he will move this team up and down the field on us if we continue to play defense like we did yesterday. This game has al the makings of a SNF shootout.

And historically we have stunk on the west coast. Back we go to the left coast to face an elite QB and elite RB and an even healthier Elite WR in Keenan Allen

Buckle up.

Yesterdays' game was frustrating but expected. Miami was going to be extra amped to play MM old team, are now on a one week field trip in SoCal, and were playing at 4 in cold(ish) weather against a D that can bring pressure and we were missing a lot of our line...

On to my thoughts: Tua's accuracy: I think the commentators were wrong here. Tua's accuracy was pretty normal, but the receivers did him no favors. His throws are sometimes high, but waddle seemed to be allergic to the ball yesterday and Wilson was non-existant in this game. D played relatively well to keep us in it, but they changed their D on the fly to get pressure on him and it didn't work as well as they'd hoped (or done in the past vs inexperienced QBs). Was Tua pressing a little for his coach? Maybe and a few times in the sidelines you could see Mike McD saying "I F'ed up" on certain playcalls and the like, and no QB is going to hold up all game with pressure in his face. His two interceptions happened on back to back plays where 1) the RB fell down and 2) Hill ole'd it into the hands of a defender.

Still, with all of that, the game was 20-14 with the game on the line and Tua with the ball. If it wasn't for the fact the NFL still doesn't know what a catch is we may be singing a different tune today. Miami does not have a running game. It is still an issue. We also cannot seem to get off the field on third down and are vulnerable to the RB "block/screen" play where the Back looks like they are blocking but then slip out to catch a pass. Until we get a sideline to sideline MLB that is going to be an issue.

Much like the Vikings game, I don't care about this loss to a non division foe away game and feel that for 44 minutes we were in this game. It would have been nice to pull this one out of our rear, but it is what it is.

I understand but I don't think anything good will come of me going traditional MOP on the Dolphins this week. I want to see what they do Sunday Night and if they play poorly then I'll call them on it but I feel the game got away from them yesterday and the defense had a big hand in it.
7-0, they allow San Fran to drive down the field, kick a FG, drive again and take a 10-7 lead with a 3rd string back up
Let's be real here

And correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Miami manage to cut the deficit to a 1 score game? 23-17, we stopped the Niners and had the ball, went for it on 4th and 1 at our own
19 yard line? @Todem how did you like that call, honestly? There was plenty of time but McDaniel had seen enough of his defense to know they were not playing that stingy.
I would love to place all the blame on Tua but I felt going into the game that he was likely going to throw at least 1 or 2 interceptions
It didn't shake me that badly, he was due for a couple.

8 Wins and 4 Losses, chance to surge ahead and force a showdown with Buffalo in Orchard Park, who's with me?

-Sidenote: MOP scored 220+ in FF redrafts this weekend, most teams win with about 130-140-150, this was a silly number but it also wrapped up Division and Bye week, I don't have to think about anything until after we face Buffalo and can just focus on Miami, so that might explain some of this new found wisdom on Monday Morning and not wanting to burn down Stephen Ross' helicopter as usual.

This team was exposed. Big play potential at all times. But you can get to the QB. And when you do all bets are off

You mean when the team is missing their starting Left Tackle and their starting Right Tackle on the Offensive Line?

Those Tackles are key in pass blocking situations when the quarterback has to drop back and then plant his feet and make an accurate throw down the field, in order for that to happen you cannot allow the opposing Defensive Ends to come crashing thru in under 2 seconds, that would not allow for enough time for plays to develop and the quarterback to set up and find open receivers down the field, I think we can all agree on that, yes/no? LG-C-RG more important in the running game since not as many sacks tend to come right up the middle by Defensive Tackles.

And again to be clear, Miami was down both of their starting Tackles on the OL vs San Fran which has a Pro Bowl DE in Nick Bosa
You wanted to discuss being exposed, yes/no?

I am. It was basically a helmet catch that he took two steps with in the field of play and then as he fell out of bounds the ball wobbled (with his hand under it). That whole “survive the ground” nonsense annoys me.

yes, whenever 3 o linemen are out for a team you can get to a qb that is not a runner. I can think of only 3 qbs who would have been better behind center with what Tua was dealing w yesterday. Meanwhile they hit two massive plays against arguably the best d in football right now and had a chance to win vs them before that 4th down play.

this team is turning into the Marino dolphins for some fans both good and bad. Some fans wanted Marino out bc Miami didn’t win w him…

I sure hope your not talking about Geiseki’s non catch.

This team was exposed. Big play potential at all times. But you can get to the QB. And when you do all bets are off

Some fans wanted Marino out bc Miami didn’t win w him…
And those fans were idiots.

same fans ran Shula out before they ran Marino out
Shula I kind of get... He stuck with his assistants too long and Jimmy was actively pining for the job. His GM gaffes toward the end were also problematic. You forget how popular Jimmy was/is down here. He lost that luster when he started to mess with Marino.

Good observations and memory

I have been one of the biggest Tua detractors since we drafted him. He has earned a lot of equity with me this season. He is human. He had a bad game. All great QB’s have bad games too.

I am chalking this one up to simply a bad day. Because he did have plenty of time on numerous throws that he flat out missed. And he has made those same throws all season.
Last week was a perfect storm with missing tackles against a great pass rush. We also cannot forget that the McDaniel offense is a derivative of the Shannahan system. That defense sees a lot of these concepts in practice all year.

All that said, it is a good reality check on Tua. His MVP level stats are a byproduct of a system designed to maximize his success. I have been one of the bigger boosters of Tua in college and in the NFL but he does have clear limitations. This team really needs a running game to fall back on when the passing game isn't working.

They really relied on Durham and Ingold chipping on their routes…
SF LB got really good depth and Miami all but abandoned the run. Really was a perfect storm, agreed @Desert_Power
at least it was against an NFC area and not someone their in competition for a playoff spot.. all eyes on sunday PM.

It's not the reason we lost BUT I have had just about enough NFL and the Jaelan Phillips roughing the passer flag on a sack, I give up

-That means all the other 59 reasons why the Miami Dolphins lost the game, in the end even if they play perfectly which they DID NOT but even if they were, in the end the NFL cannot be a trusted brand anymore, not the one we all grew up with.

I'm kind of deflated but it's more than the loss, even if Miami had pulled it out late, that kind of flag or play call and being allowed to happen week to week in the NFL is disturbing.
All the games come down to a hand full of plays, most of the scores are fairly close top to bottom week in and week out, this is going to continue to happen again and again.
I'm not sure how invested emotionally I want to be any more.

Sucks all the air out of the room quickly

Last night was the annual and seemingly inevitable kick in the face by Reality. We are going nowhere - again. This team is loaded with talent on both sides of the ball but defenses have figured out how to stop our offense, and our defense despite being loaded with sick talent that plays great on first and second down, cannot get off the field on 3rd down.

I think we got sucked in by a mirage. Again.

Also, that call on Phillips is the worst call I have seen in a long time, if not ever. But, its not the reason we lost. Tua looked like a 3rd string undrafted free agent who just played in his first and last NFL game. And that goes all the way back to the second half of the Houston game, which appears to be the moment defenses figured out how to stop him.

If this team hadn't prepared me for this so well for the past 30 years, I would be devastated today.

Also...we overpaid Xavien Howard. He is clearly in decline and not worth anywhere near what we are now stuck paying him. Between him completely losing it and Byron Jones deciding he no longer wants to be a football player, our secondary went from potentially the best in the NFL to well below average.

Oh well, I guess the "there's always next year" mantra just came a little early this season. F.
