2025 Miami Dolphins - Week 2; Time to burn it down? (34 Viewers)

Maybe Dolphins including Wilkins in the JT trade....

:ponder:

I'd rather resign Wilkins than make a move for JT, we can't sign them both.

I'm not excited about paying a DT $25-$30M per year, seems a bit silly
I also don't think Wilkins is as important in Fangio's defense as some think.
Ogbah-R.Davis(camp reports say he's vastly improved)-Zach Sieler
Miami runs a 3-4, there's your potential starting DL if they trade Wilkins but I wouldn't trade him for Taylor

Gaskin cut +$1M
Feeney traded +$1M +6th Rd pick
Wilson restructures +$3M give or take

Miami is sitting on almost $14M in camp space now
Wilkins wants $25M+ a year like Williams received, he's set to make $10M+ this year
The math still is fuzzy for how they could trade for JT and extend Wilkins, just seems impossible right now.

Field Yates tweet
A note on Jonathan Taylor: if the Colts do not remove him from the PUP list by 4 PM ET today, Taylor is out for the first 4 games of the season, even if traded after today.

Indy has a deadline of today for a deal, but 4 PM is also of note for Taylor's early season status if he stays with the Colts.

McKinley at Safety, likely being released but Miami has talked to him about bringing him right back, they have to put certain guys on IR first
He's had a n excellent camp by all reports.

Trade talks for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor have continued and are expected to go down to the wire by the deadline on Tuesday. In addition to the Miami Dolphins, ESPN's Stephen Holder believes there's a second team involved, which could certainly change the dynamics. Final roster decisions are due on Tuesday, so if the Colts don't trade Taylor, it's possible they keep him on the Physically Unable to Perform list if he chooses not to report to the team. Also coming off offseason surgery on his ankle, Taylor's fantasy stock has fallen considerably and his current ADP is now at 19.7 overall. A trade to the Dolphins would be best for his fantasy value, but a trade before Tuesday isn't guaranteed because of Indy's high asking price.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Maybe they should offer Tyler Herro and a 2042 1st round pick.
It's not this group's fault that Lillard wants to wear a Heat jersey,
And not to mention this is the SP/NFL chat and you're speaking NBA'knees, might as well be speaking Greek
-Just summon me when Lillard is traded to Miaimi, it's inevitable

Oh lighten up, francis. We're allowed to make jokes in here.

I do find it fascinating that Miami continues to believe than get money for nothing across two sports now.

And Our chicks are free

I hope the Colts keep Taylor (Colts fan)...he would have been better off working out on the side at least showing his ankle is ok. He can hold-in and still hold-out his 8 games when season starts if he wants to push the issue.

GM, I love you but it is not "money for nothing" in two sports, its "guys who got f'ed over by their teams and want to live in paradise where you can shoot people all day long and even the white women have big butts."

Neither player would be interested in coming down here if they didn't feel shafted by their current employer (now, the fact they both have houses down here definitely helps...)

I just think the cocaine is so good down there it's made you all delusional. Dame did not get F'd over by Portland. That's a strange way to look at a team that handed him hundreds of millions of dollars to play a game. JT is just pouting. Indy didn't F him over either, they just don't want to fork over a ton of money to a player who missed most of last year and can be replaced in next year's draft.

potatoe / potahto: dame wanted and asked for Portland to build a winner around him; they went the other way. Taylor caught in the RB squeeze and then the owner opens up his mouth and says something dumb.

For one player it is about money, for the other it is about chasing a ring. I respect the ring chaser more than the money guy (I don't care if JT ends up in Miami)

NGL, I was not looking forward to seeing JT in a Miami jersey twice next year. I understand the strategic questions about trading away high-end draft capital for a RB, but Miami has a roster that is perfectly capable of making a very deep playoff run as-is. I would not want to deal with that offense with Taylor in the backfield.

Now if it was going to be a trade that involved somebody like Christian Wilkins, well he's a stud in his own right. Still, I'm happy overall that JT is still a Colt.

I won't gloat as a Jets fan just yet. Nothing stopping you from acquiring him Week Four of Five. Or even now, if the rules allow it. Just can't play until Week Five all.

Again, happy Miami stuck to their guns and didn't bid against themselves for JT. Other team my arse. Anyhow, I also agree that Miami can always revisit when the time comes if needed or if we are strong out of the gate then We can wait on JT to become a FA.

Wilkins, BTW, is all class. I understand he wants to "set the market" and I disagree him being worth that, but he is going to play and Miami should, at some point, reward him for that.

You and I are never going to agree on how Portland treated Dame and it doesn't belong here, but they did try. It is just easier to "build" a winner in a city where players want to go than it is a city where they do not want to go and leave it at that (also, J. Grant was Dame's #1 WANT and after Portland got him, the team still sucked, sooooooooo......)

I just find it comical that the city of Miami thinks they can get start players that are under contract with other teams without being able to offer like value in return. Snort more coke.

Three UDFAs made the 53 man, BYU RB Chris Brooks, USC DT Brandon Pili, and Campbell (NC FSC School) TE Julian Hill who who is now the number 2 TE. Hill had some great blocks in the preseason, got open, and had some YAC. With limited draft capital, it's important to get contributions from UDFAs, like CB Kader Kahou in 2022.

Some Julian Hill video knocking defenders over: https://youtu.be/wx6NhYfGi_I?feature=shared

I'd go with this guy, but they are going to complement each other and split carries.
Mostert, Achane, Wilson/Brooks, Ahmed. 5 RBs on the team, plus a FB. Game day, maybe only 1 of Wilson, Brooks, Ahmed is active. Correct, for now, only Mostert is startable, Achane's usage and health (shoulder) is TBD.
Is it dumb to drop Penny or Anthony Richardson (have Lamar) for Jeff?

I think so. Wilson did get a contract worth $200,000 more than Mostert. Wilson had a great start when he was traded to Miami, but he wasn't as good later in the season. Plus, it's RBBC even if Mostert gets hurt.
