2025 Miami Dolphins - Week 2; Time to burn it down? (34 Viewers)

Just get some popcorn and enjoy this
Last drive is slowed down, just fun to see Miami play well.

Joseph is a head case. Can’t even line up properly.

So, I assume the Cowboys are also getting a bust in return?
Did seal a win against the Steelers with an INT in the end zone
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then. He is terrible.
ST TD in game 1. Glad he is finding his nuts in Big D.
It will be the only nut he finds…..so enjoy that one nugget.

He is terrible.

“You don’t rise to the occasion. You sink to your level of training.” Watch this video of Tua practicing the exact deep ball that won the game vs the Chargers. This is so dope!

Smack down beat ya to it
But I watched again
I thought you did the inverted/right handed thing but if you posted this, great minds think alike.
What can I tell you?

Also want to keep stockpiling the good stuff for one of those weeks where we are scratching our heads.
I am optimistic this week but I know BB and Pats/Foxboro can be horrible places for opposing offenses.
I want to get a better look at our defense vs a middle of the road offense at best.

I'm tired of being scared each week, I'm starting to not feel that way

I've watched that twice now...I have to admit it made things move.

Full participation for T armstead.
He can stay home.......I want the OL we had that beat the Chargers.
Lamm did a respectable job at LT, 68.1 PFF grade. How about moving him to RT to replace our weakest link on the oline?
Curious what did Austin grade out at. He laid the wood a few times and I was like “wow” finally.
PFF had him at 53.9. @Ministry of Pain posted earlier, all the others were much higher. Tua gets some credit for quick decisions and quick release. Our C and 2 guards did a good job protecting up the middle.

Still only 24 he definitely flashed his athleticism ... next up consistency (fingers crossed)

24-17 up in Foxsboro
Miami was a 1.5 pt fav at kick off so it was pretty much Pk'Em and Miami dominated most of the game
Scoreboard was not always reflective of that, but they beat the Patriots in most phases of the game although Special Teams was likely not one of them.

-Jason Sanders is ON NOTICE!

I mean Dude...get it together

-Lot more to say and post but just stunned we are 2-0 right now and feeling like we can win most weeks, we stand a chance with this offense.
The 50 yd TD or however long it was from Mostert was a high water mark for this offense and the OL once again played pretty well
Tua was able to distribute and get rid of the ball quickly

70% completions, 249 pass TD and an Int, played like a Champion tonight, did his best to push us over the top.
He can clean up a.couple mistakes but he is on the path to succeed this year.
-Whoever was OUT tonight, next week you got Denver at home for the season opener, maybe another week off. Especially Armstead if it helps

2-0 on the road - I’ll take it.

Oline continues to impress. NE forced the Dolphins to run and that’s exactly what they did.

Nice game for the Defense as well - Van Ginkel was all over the field.

Now if they can only work on those snapping issues.

Very happy the way the D stepped it up last night after being gashed most of the Chargers game. Offense was solid but not explosive last night (not shocked, you knew Belichick was going to take that away) so it was nice to see the defense say just go ahead and be average on offense we will control this game. O-line again did what they had to and Tua is slinging it out of there quickly to help them. Mostert was the good Mostert last night. Good to see Achane get a couple touches. Hopefully Waddle is fine.

I think we need to lock Van Ginkel up on like a 3 year deal, if he keeps playing like this the price is going to go up and we could lose him.

And Tua goes to 5-0 vs Belichick and the Patriots.

I'm excited...ordered a replacement Dolphins hat as my old was pretty beat up and ordered a Tua t-shirt. Just got an email the t-shirt is out of stock so need to look at alternates or maybe breakdown and get a jersey.

Before I pass out some game balls for last night...
-The decision to try and kick a 55 yd FG with about 2 minutes left up 24-17, you miss it and you are turning the ball over midfield with plenty of time

It was 17-3 start of the 4th Q, our Defense had been pretty good most of the night, you pin them deep and with that slow moving offense I don't think they could march down the field under 2 minutes, that offense is nothing like what we put together.

it was a great night but trying to kick a 55 yd FG end of game, again I give McDaniel a ding or two on that and question his decision, where was Fangio while this was happening?

Miami is 1st in the NFL in Motion pre-snap
Miami is 2nd in the NFL in play action

It's scary the number of times I watch Tua drop back and he's in a clean pocket.
Watch the tape, I ain't lying. Those massive windows the OL creates for him to step up into the pocket and throw darts between the hashmarks, he is one of the most accurate in the league when he has a little time to read thru his progressions.

-And another thing while I'm at it this morning, GET OFF TUA'S BACK!!!
I get it, he has thrown a few interceptions in some key moments, and he had 1 last week, 1 last night, SO WHAT?!!!
With this offense he can take risks that other QBs simply cannot, it isn't always going to go Miami's way but McDaniel continues to dial up big plays and also PLAY AGRESSIVE
I cannot emphasize and stress enough how exciting it is when Miami gets to run their 2 minutes offense end of 1st Half and then come out the 2nd Half looking for more
I want Tua to keep testing where the limits of this offense are, so far we haven't found that point.
I wish he had a slightly more consistent run game behind him which would make the play action even more deadly HOWEVER you can't argue with what Raheem did last night

Miami Offensive Line has yielded 1 sack on the season
-MoP would not mess with this unit right now meaning even when Armstead is clear...
just rest him. I don't see why we need him vs Denver, maybe he can help us at Buffalo. Training Camp must have been rough on him.

Game Balls on Offense

Left Tackle-Kendall Lamm and I probably would give one to the entire OL,
Connor Williams and Robert Hunt move whoever is in front of them to make clear passing lanes for Tua

Raheem Mostert would easily get a game ball

Tua-he was the leader last night on offense and kept his cool throughout the game, looked confident and sure of himself even if you're not

With our kicking game I agree, the thing is in today's NFL 55 yards in good weather should be a 50/50 at worse. I forget the stat last night but the last few years Sanders has been horrible 50 yards plus. I like him but as I believe you said earlier he needs to be put on notice, start working out some other guys.

After watching the game last night, I think NE's defense needed to mix up what they are doing a little more. NE did a decent enough job playing deep and forcing the Fins to either take short gains passing or run the ball. Had the NE offense been more capable, they may have made the entire game more competitive instead of just a last gasp at the end.

Tua was getting the ball out in 2 seconds, and there was no way for NE to get much pressure on him. When they did blitz or had a clear path to Tua, the ball still was out before they could get close to him. That's where I think NE would have been better suited to sometimes change things up and play closer to the line. Hit the receivers at the LOS to get them off balance and disrupt timing routes. Force Tua to get off his first read and bring the ball down. Then a pass rusher or a blitzer may have been able to get to him. They could have mixed up blitzes, zone coverage, and man looks out of that package to better confuse Tua.

@SwampDawg
I was more than a little surprised that Tua is 5-0 vs the Genius
Great Title for a few days

-We're gonna need something special because MoP is a Russ Wilson HATER!!!
I mean I can't stand that little prick. The fact he is even mentioned in Hall of Fame discussion just makes me projectile vomit.

-Seattle won because they had a 3rd Rd QB on a rookie contract for 4 years, when Russ got paid they weren't able to keep everyone and fell off quick.
Miami needs to make it happen THIS YEAR, forget 2024, Miami needs to aim for the Super Bowl this year.
Once they pay Tua $60M a year it's going to be hard to pay other positions and the team dynamics will change
Remember when i said Tua woud be a $30M QB? $40M? and now $50M seems like a bargain when you see what other QBs are getting
Would be wise to extend him now vs in 6-12 months from now.

...until he absorbs another one of those hits which i hope to gawd I don't have to watch for a long long time

Last night justified a few Grier decisions thus far. Signing Fangio & Wynn, and resigning AVG and Lamm. And not signing Dalvin Cook or Jonathan Taylor. It's early. I'm expecting Cam Smith, Achane and Julian Hill to make a contribution before the season is over.

2020
1.05 Tua-Possible Top 5 QB in the NFL when time to operate
1.16 Austin Jackson...almost coming up to an avg RT in the NFL some weeks...and based on what we've seen thus far, Happy to take that.
1.30 Noah Igbo-traded to Dallas

2nd Rd
#39 overall-Robert Hunt...Top 10 RG in the NFL, should be extended, should be a Pro Bowl nominee
#56 Raekwon Davis...Low rated starting DT but he manages to find a starting spot on this defense most weeks in run situations. Won't likely be extended

#70 Brandon Jones...reserve Safety but has seen a lot of snaps, not likely to see a 2nd contract

Not much else stuck but very few do after the first couple rounds

2021
Waddle and Phillips in the 1st Rd at 6 and 18, early returns have been pretty awesome, did have to pony up an extra 1st to move up and take Waddle, still shelled out $30M per year to Tyreek Hill and you all are really trying to knock me off my Tua horse today.

#36 overall-Jevon Holland, that guy is a Top 5 Safety according to PFF
Eichenberg in the 2nd, Hunter Long in the 3rd was traded to Rams I think. Eichenberg pretty much sucks.

2022

Ross forfeited our 1st
We traded for Tyreek Hill so that has to be factored in
Tindall, EZ E, Sky Thompson...hard to measure those guys right now

2023

Cam Smith, Ramsey and Devon Achane is how I would look at it plus we traded our 1st for Chubb I think.

How bad is Grier?
I hate him at times but then...we aren't that far from glory if we can seal up a couple more spots. OL is a nice surprise so far, Wynn is helping a lot as is Lamm.

I wouldn't mind seeing Lamm at RT
I have mixed feelings about this. Until he shows otherwise, not sure I would move him off Left Tackle right now.
It happens to be the side Tua can see coming
I worry more about his blind side

-i might only wheel Armstead out there against the Playoff level teams, let him play 8 games this year if that's what is needed to keep him healthy enough for the post season.
2023 or BUST!!!

Some quick takes:

Van Ginkel was outstanding last night and will be playing a lot more.

Bradley Chubb easily had his best game as a Dolphin. He was also all over the field and I hope this is what we gave that lucrative extension for and not the exception.

Mostert and Ahmed looking great in the offense. I expect Devon Achane to be worked in soon and glad we don’t have to rush him.

So awesome to see Cracraft and Berrios making an impact….these guys have Wes Welker coaching all over them.

Tua…..dude is a QB. When healthy he runs this offense like a general. If he stays healthy we are a Super Bowl contender…..there. I said it!!! Quick, decisive decisions with the football and his pocket awareness has improved a lot.

OL - what more can be said…..don’t change a thing. Tell Armstead to take his time…..Connor must clean up the snap issues though.

I predicted a final score of 27-17 in the game thread and Jason Sanders is on notice….he missed that FG that would have sealed my perfect prediction LoL!!!

I am going to the home opener this Sunday and super excited!!!!

-And another thing while I'm at it this morning, GET OFF TUA'S BACK!!!
Who hacked MOP's account?????

lol - not used to seeing a positive happy MOP either.
It's so different to hear some of these gravy train shows on ESPN/FS1, national media and journalists, even Local LeBatard this morning wanted to get right into the Dolphins game last night up in New England, usually it's a clown show with them mocking everything but it felt different today. Feels more like when local radio discuss the Miami Heat, you know...an organization that wins Titles or competes for Titles and is regarded as one of the premier NBA franchises.

It's been a while since the Miami Dolphins were truly thought of as an elite NFL team and they still are not all the way there but you can see something going on.
A transformation, a maturity, a new level of awareness and you could see it in the interviews right after the game...Tua is now the Offensive CEO

He might run the team into Bankruptcy :lmao:
But nonetheless he exhibits CEO traits that one must have to advance
Mahomes like traits if we want to get specific

-"I'm about to get comfortable"

Bradley Chubb: highest-graded Dolphins player vs the Patriots

PFF
Bradley Chubb – 90.8
Andrew Van Ginkel – 90.4
Christian Wilkins – 81.3
Kader Kohou - 80.4
David Long Jr. - 79.5

-"I'm about to get comfortable"
Lol - Dolphins fans (myself included) are not a "comfortable" lot since Dan the Man was QB, and even now, these first two weeks have had their share of "uncomfortable" moments but the bounces (and the Defense) has been solid when it matters, and when could we say that about it anytime since 54 and 99 were suiting up for us.

We still have our concerns: Tua's head, connors snaps, Jason FNN Sanders, but the feeling of "we aren't out of our depth" is fun. Games coming up against Dallas, KC, Bufallo are no longer definite losses but "fun games that could go either way". Knowing we are on that tier w Tua, Mike McD, and Fangio makes me smile.

True bottom line is as follows: we have our next 30 year coach if he will have us. When the down season happens (and they will happen (hopefully after a few championships)) I hope they think more "Mike Tomlin" than "jeff Fisher"

Waddle out.
Slow played him... saved for Buffalo

And Miami is being very cautious with concussion since Tua's in the CIN game. I'm not sure he 100% recovered from the torso/rib type injury he had in preseason.

-I think Miami needs every win they can get so IMHO if Waddle were really OK, he'd be on the field. That said I have confidence as long as Hill is out there and remains in the game.
I also believe that Braxton Berrios and River Cracraft will fill in the gaps well. I expect a good dose of the running game to wear Denver down in the heat. It's slightly less humid this weekend than it's been more recently in South Florida but it's still going to be close to 100 degrees on the field, Miami would be wise to wear their defense down.

-I'm glad Waddle gets a week off but I'm not sure Buffalo is the reason they are doing it.

-TT, on your Lamm info, that's good news and Austin Jackson is on notice that it's time to shape up or ship out. To the entire OL's credit, they have been more than holding their own without their best at Left Tackle, part of that is a great game plan and scheme. Sean Payton always has a few tricks up his sleeve, hope McDaniel has a few of his own. I would lover to see some rips on the running game, I was in shock as Mostert scampered into the end zone.

Re WR last year when either Hill or Waddle was out the offense suffered.
they focused on it in camp and preseason (when we heard people ask ”what’s wrong with the offense?l)

like you I feel like Cracraft Berrios will flourish… EZE a will continue to get Deebo -esque type work. Chosen and CedWil ???
Fantasay wise MMcD offense is purely guessing trying to figure out outside of Hill Waddle

Woah EZE inactive is a surprise, Cam Smith as well... there was talk about more pt for him.

wait to see the game plan.
EZE is not as good of a route runner in an offense where timing is critical, that's my take. Cedric Wilson had a good preseason and can also do the end-around role. Julian Hill active over Kroft, he delivered some great blocks in the run game and has YAC potential.
