So.... that new Ethel Cain album was not at all what I was expecting :oldunsure:

I guess that is what you get with an album dropped on a Tuesday.

Bob Vylan and Amy Taylor (Amyl) collab single.

I was a big Sports Team fan from their first album, but feel like each new song is worse than the last.

Two new The Dirty Nil sings dropped today, one is called I Hate the Internet and I playlisted on the name alone.

New albums from The Weather Station, Franz Ferdinand and Lambrini Girls in a little over two hours :coffee:
Lambrini Girls album is a banger!
I was excited about this. Not sure why, just seemed to be one I would like and the posters here were giving it good energy but I did not care for the first 2 songs and I moved on. Maybe I should come back to it?

That's cunty

ETA: HFS! That made it through the language filter?

ETB: if you made it to the last song that would have made sense 😉

Wow how did it get through. Crazy you can post that but not *** Carew or The Big **** Theory or ***** Ducks.

Meryclo 陽だまりから/ メリクロ - Sunlit Moments

Don't understand most of the words to this J-Pop song but kept coming back and singling along with the chorus.

Vocals: Yuno
Guitar: 69hikari

Sorry, not yet available on Spotify.

CRUZ - Play The Game (Official Music Video)

🎶 Am I playing your game
or are you playing mine?🎶

Guitar driven banger from this four-piece Indie Rock band hailing from Sheffield, South Yorkshire, UK.

I doubt all of these will be good but here’s the upcoming releases I have saved:

Squid 2-7
Heartworms 2-7
Horsegirl 2-14
The Murder Capital 2-21
Youth Lagoon 2-21
Sam Fender 2-21
Divorce 3-7
Courting 3-14
Florist 4-4

Mumford & Sons - Rushmere (Official Video)

A British Folk Rock, Americana and Bluegrass band.

So let's get this out of the way, odd numbered years have much better music than even numbered years. I don't know why that is, but it is.
Anyway, Release Radar was ridiculously strong today indicative of another good odd year to come.

In addition to Mumford and Sons @squistion mentioned above, highlights include, but are by no means limited to:

(For what it's worth, apparently this is not another post-death carrion feed on an artist. Apparently Mac did this back in 2014 and got distracted with other projects (and probably other, less happy, distractions. 😭)

Mine was too (I play-listed the 1st six songs), I thought it had something to do with listening to the year-end draft... but I am going with your odd-year theory instead. 👍

On my RR, I got 28 songs by GRMLN and this

Given the Walkmen playing live together last year, I wonder if they'll make any new music.

Going to see if I can stay relatively on top of new music in 2025. Going to use the list of new albums in Wikipedia and try identify each month albums I may be interested in adding them to this playlist. (I'm an album guy not a singles guy.)

January albums I'm going to check out closer, subject to removal if they don't do much for me:

I posted this in the "What are you listening to." Good call and I'm looking forward to the full album drop.

Do you use your Release Radar in Spotify? A new one drops every Friday and is a great way to find stuff in your wheelhouse.

I'm aware of it but haven't used it in a while. Probably should go back to it as well. Thanks

Pastel pretty much does to Oasis what the Gallaghers did to the Beatles. You can fault their originality but not their timing. Seriously though, it rocks

******* sons begat your cunting daughters
Promiscuous mothers with your incestuous fathers
Ingrate souls condemned for all eternity
Obtained by moral observance, a domineering deity

Chaos rampant an age of distrust
Confrontations, impulsive sabbath

Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory - Trouble (Live from the Church Studios in London 2025)

"Atmospheric, subtle touch of haunt and absolutely killer bass line groove"

Studio Version:

Brigitte Calls Me Baby - Careless Whisper

George Michael cover.

"The cover song we never knew we wanted, but will instantly fall in love with. These guys are the real deal."

The Lathums - Heartbreaker

A jangly "Proper Bopper" from Wigan, Greater Manchester UK Indie Rock band.

Badflower - London

Somewhat different for them with a slight jazz/funk vibe added to their standard blues rock/hard rock style.

It took a few listenings for me to get into it.

I'm subscribed to your mom's OnlyFans
I spent five bucks a month to get pictures of her flappy giblets
And I spent another ten dollars a month to chat with her on the AI chat program
It feels great

Andrew Cushin - Alright! (Official Video)

🎶 Well it’s alright! It’s alright if you wanna take it🎶

"Absolute belter. Cool song with a great chorus!"

Cushin is an Indie Rock, singer/songwriter from Newcastle upon Tyne, UK.

Kyle Dion - Tears on a Pretty Face

"Kyle Dion is a soulful R&B crooner with a distinctive, smooth falsetto" (this dude can really sing)_

for the first time in forever, my RR is almost all bands that are new to me. and of course GRMLN. and Kek'star (I binge- listened to his remix of Gil Scott Heron's spoken word describing poetry that includes "that must be deep... and ever since Spotify gives me his shousey club tunes on friday and monday playists)

Anybody ever listen to the Manchester band W.H. Lung?

New album dropped a few months ago. It is excellent.

If you like this song you check out all of their work:

I Will Set Fire to the House

Their debut album is still the best and loaded with good tunes.

A nice tune and I like it, but it has a release date of July 8, 2024.

As per the OP this thread is for new songs with a release date of 2025 (not those that were released pre-2025 that are new to you).

For future reference there are two other threads you could have used, one for newly discovered 2024 releases:

Can't get the link to load but it can be found on the prior page (see 2024 New Music Thread)

And one for whatever tune you are listening to now, 2024, 2025 or any year:

I have tickets to see Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit in April. I missed them on the Weathervanes tour and I hadn't heard about the upcoming solo album when I bought the tickets. I'm sure it will be a great show.
