2nd Official Free For All Chess Tournament- Green & Gold= Champion (2 Viewers)

Witz and I started yesterday and he's gone AWOL today. Hopefully we can really get going tomorrow.

Unfortunately I'm not surprised by the people who haven't responded. There are bound to be some drop outs in this tournament as we proceed. It would have been nice for them to let us know, but that rarely happens.

We'll give it a day or two. If by Wednesday your game hasn't started and you have not heard from your opponent, post it here and I'll get to work condensing the remaining players.

AcerFC defeats timschochet2.
This is such awful shtick.
There was no shtick involved. I had no desire to do this. We spent several days looking for somebody else to join up so that we could have an even number. Nobody volunteered. I didn't want anyone to drop out or have to wait a round to play.

There will be a further condensing of players this round and if we get an even number, timschochet2 drops out.

I think it was a good way to handle the situation.

Moves in Kutta. Sorry about the absence - more snow than expected yesterday and with the kids home from school, it was crazy here.

Should I have declined that otello? Wasn't completely sure whether to accept, but didn't see a lot of room to attack after I got the pawn back and figured I'd only end up regretting it if I pushed too hard.

Also, Joffer vs. Tasker- did your game start? Let me know, thx.

My general rule of thumb is, if you know what you're doing in a particular situation and playing for a win is low risk, play for the win. Of course it's hard to know if something is low risk or not if you don't know what you're doing. General rule for beginners is to play on so you can learn whether or not something is a risk and how to play that position.

I would not have blame you if you had declined. You were pressuring another pawn as well. Can't argue with SB here.

With the A pawn on white my bishop couldn't help, and the E pawn could have been supported by F once you moved the knight. Might be an attack there, but I put the odds on me messing it up higher than the odds of you not being able to defend. I also think you're the better player so I was OK with the draw.

Ugh.

We have the same rating and you have beaten me in our only match. I think we are pretty even. My issue is that I may make a strong set of moves to gain an advantage, only to give it back with a poor decision.

Looking over the game now. After 20. cxd3, Black is probably a little better with his extra pawn but his pieces are passive. He can hang onto the pawn, but it might doom him to inactivity. After 22...Nd7 I don't take the draw offer as White. I have one active rook already and I can get the other one active pretty fast. His center pawns are locked on dark squares which will be targets with the Bishop. The a4 pawn might be a liability also. This looks promising for White.

I think he got psyched out after I complimented you on your endgame technique vs tim. ;)

He's definitely beaten guys who've cleaned my clock.

But mostly I just wasn't sure where to go next.

If anyone wants to play that game out, send me an invite. I'll take black and defend. I'd love to see how you attack from there.

was rushing out the door today and made a quick costly move. as soon as i hit accept i realized my mistake. pav is probably winning this one, but i'm not giving up just yet.

Rascal and I are averaging 1 move a day so I'm not sure what you want to do.
Rascal has been ill.

How are you feeling, Rascal? Please respond. Let me know if you can speed things up a bit, or if you need to withdraw.

Timmypg, if it turns out that you're the last game left this round, and if Rascal is still averaging 1 move a day, then I'll award you a forfeit victory this round. But we'll wait and see if that happens.

Well, to be fair, I'm sure we both made a ton of mistakes. But ignorance is bliss, am I right? :)
