Actually, take me out of the game. I love the idea, but it's just not going to work this time of year for me. I'll be useless and don't want to hamstring the team....I'd rather watch from the sidelines and be able to read both threads. Sorry.

Feel free to take me out, too, if you want to keep the teams balanced. I'm not sure how quickly the games will be moving, but I'd imagine that my evening/weekend availability wouldn't be ideal.

I think sac bob listed correspondence chess rules earlier. I believe that it is generally accepted that one can consult chess books, books on openings. I draw the line at using a chess engine although, in practice, this is hard to police. That said, I am very confident that no one is using a chess engine here, as our numerous blunders will attest. In a team game like this, I expect the conversation in the threads to include discussion of Elo codes and opening theory. For guys looking to learn, they will need to consult something. As long as shredder or fritz is not deciding our next move, that works for me. Thoughts?

It is how chess openings are referenced, instead of their common name. Each opening has a code that starts with E.

They start with a letter from A to E. Many openings will have multiple codes associated with them to differentiate the main lines. Heck, E60-E99 is dedicated to the King's Indian Defense.

Tasker hasn't been in the X thread, not sure why that was interpreted that way. I just noticed in the poster list (outside the thread, I'm not reading the Team O thread) he's like the 2nd most prolific poster.

My note was just to see if anyone else out there who is reading this thread wants to join X since that would essentially even things up. No biggie either way.

Sorry.. haven't been active in the thread. Very difficult for me to follow along, especially with two games at once. I'll try to be more active mid-game. I dont really know #### about openings anyway.
