☹ Official 2020 Las Vegas Raiders thread ☹ (1 Viewer)

Too high.  No thanks.  We need D line help but you can’t throw give up that much.  This is a young team on its way up but not in the upper tier.   Build it up wisely.
Agreed. They basically do not want to trade him. I wouldn't trade him away unless he was a problem. Still on rookie 1st contract with option for 5th season and I don't think they have unlocked his potential. So, keep the 2's and kick the tire on other trades.

Inactives:

Team Player Position

Raiders Marcus Mariota QB

Raiders Rico Gafford WR

Raiders Dallin Leavitt S

Raiders Trent Brown OT

Raiders Bryan Edwards WR

Raiders Arden Key DE

Why is Brown out? He was cleared of COVID, no?

"As late as two hours before the game, there was optimism that Brown would suit up. But Brown felt ill leading up to the game — not COVID-19 related according to a club spokesman — and was among the Raiders’ inactives on Sunday."

Argh

Weather already playing defense against the Raiders and the deep ball. Gusts up to 35 mph reported, getting as high as 50 mph. Minimal Ruggs threat. Looks like a lot of Waller today.

Good win today. Not a pretty win. That weather was nasty and crazy. But it was an important win.

The Browns are a good and talented team that have been on a roll. They are a potential wild card contender and that means this win against them is an important potential tie breaker on top of getting us closer to it while knocking them down a bit. We did it once more without T. Brown being out.

I want to come out and say that I wasn't all that excited about Booker being brought on but he has stepped up and done the most with the opportunities he is given to really add value to the Raiders. Another player that I want to give props to us Carlson. I actually openly advocated for him being cut and us looking for someone else. He has played well this year and did well kicking in some pretty nasty conditions for a kicker.

The running game was on point. Jacobs leading with 128 yards. Booker's 29 seems like an important 29. I honestly thought he had more yards. Carr added another 42 in obviously trying to go to the run more than he has in the past.

The passing game was nothing to be excited about but that weather made it hard. I mean, wind gusts of 1,000 mph and sleet or graupel? Whatever they called it. Missed Ruggs on that long ball which sucked. I am not too upset about Ruggs only getting two other balls because this game was about the ground as dictated by the weather and that we were able to move the ball consistently on the ground.

Hurst worries me. Non-contact injuries always seem to be the worst. If he is out then we really, really, really need to find a trade partner for someone of worth on the inside. Collins isn't getting it done like he was suppose to and we need that help. If the asking price for Quinnen is too high then who else has a player worthwhile that their season is clearly done?

"Raiders right tackle Trent Brown was hospitalized Sunday after air entered his bloodstream during a pre-game IV and required immediate medical attention, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported. Brown will stay overnight for further tests, Rapoport added.

Brown was supposed to make his return to the playing field after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list two weeks ago and missing the Raiders' Week 7 loss to the Buccaneers. Instead, Brandon Parker was a last-minute add to the active roster and filled in admirably in Las Vegas' 16-6 win over the Browns.

Brown has been limited to just two games this season, missing much of the opening month with a calf injury. The sixth-year lineman made his first Pro Bowl in 2019."

Worried that Hurst tore his achilles the way he grabbed for it.  Although a playoff berth is a good possibility for this years squad, I hope they don't spend draft capital for a one year filler on the inside.  If Hurst is out for the year, he will be missed.

Geez, what monkey paw wish or ancient cemetery did Trent Brown his house on top of? Is this guy ever going to play for us consistently?

We showed we didn't need him. Jacobs ran like a stud again, so fun to watch and glad we were able to pave an above-100 yard game. Our line really does road grade when they are on -- CLE is a solid run D and there were times they were stuffing 8 or more in the box knowing we were going to run and we did anyway.

Great to see us actually score some points in the fourth, and pull away and hold that lead.

Pass rush is still a really big problem, no one gets that push but Crosby. We desperately need another guy to do that -- not sure Irving is that guy but that's a real hole in our O.

There's always a few plays on either side that you can point to as crucial. I won't say they were the deciding factor for us but had that Landry catch been called a TD, and Njoku had caught that long 3rd down for a conversion deep in our zone, could have been a much different game and outcome.

But that's not what happened.

Props to Gruden on another solid game plan and in-game calls.

I do think teams are just assuming Carr is going to have a first fake hike to see how the D reacts and call audibles on the line. Would love to see us shake it up slightly with a few sudden quick snaps or high tempo to keep Ds on their toes as we seem to becoming predictable in that regard.

Great win. Go Raiders.

Tom, you are under estimating Brown’s impact. When he plays the oline dominates. It is very noticeable. Last game Brown played he was collapsing the def line consistently. And the pockets are much cleaner when Brown plays because it takes a Sherpa to get around him.

Brown is worth the wait.

Agreed. He is a huge difference maker. (Pun intended

We are able to make do and have a good O line plugging Young, Parker or Good at RT (I think that is everyone who has taken snaps at RT).

With Brown and Incognito in we have the best line in the game right now. Can't wait for both to be healthy and join Miller, Hudson and Jackson.

I never said that he doesn't have a huge impact, or that our O-line -- and our entire offense -- isn't so much better when he plays.

He does, and it is. Unquestionably.

What I said was that we didn't need him today.

Not that we didn't need him at all.

I don't know what it is with AFC West medical staff, but if we can get him back on the field to help us win for more than a 2 game consecutive stretch, that would be really great.

Especially that head's up hustle play to recover Carr's fumble near the goal line. To me just another sign that this is a motivated, well coached team. Guys are fighting every play.

Ruggs needs to tighten his game up though. I know he runs fast and all but honestly I don't see his quickness jump off the screen or anything. Just keep grinding.

Edit: I know I'm not the only one that can only watch the screen with one eye covered scared as hell every time Carr takes off with the ball. Just seems like he has a ball security issue or something bad is going to happen.

This. The foundation is being built, just stay the course and let the guys we have now get experience, we're on our way!

Yes, but I would rent a good defensive vet for a 7th or 6th with a 7th back like we have seen in some trades.

Quinnen I would give up more for (but not the reported asking price) because of his youth, upside and still under rookie 1st round contract with an option.

Quinnen I'd have no problem giving up a 2nd rounder for as you had proposed. Definitely don't see that as a rental but a prospect.

Agree it was an important yet ugly win.

I know it was close but really wish Ruggs made that play in the end zone where he stepped out. Should be expected of a first round WR, even one known as a speedster. Didn’t end up mattering but points off the board.

Didn't get to watch the game but did see some "highlights". First of all, it's a win, so it's all good but did the defense really hold them to 6 points without a sack or INT? Was there a turnover of any kind? That's gotta be some kind of record. They really need to generate some kind of pass rush.

The Browns goal line stand was a little concerning, maybe Gruden could have come up with a better play there or maybe having Brown in the game would have made the difference.

Overall, we all know the Raiders could have easily went out to Cleveland and laid an egg, but they didn't.  They are earning tough wins in tough conditions against good competition. That's a great sign for the growth of this franchise. Go Raiders!

There was a fumble.

I think the call to run was right. We were getting good push and good yards on pretty much every run play. Maybe could have done something different than three dives though

A 2nd is done deal. Two 2nd's as been reported as asking price is too steep for the amount of actual production he has had.

I don't know of any DT's that are on or rumored to be on the trade block.

Ryan Kerrigan had some off/on buzz of wanting a trade etc. He would beca rental but could add pass rush on the edge.

We all know this but it’s painful to see the huge need for WR week after week and year after year.

Huge road win. 10:00 am starts have not been kind to Raiders in a long time. I thought Carr played smart and it was great to see him us his legs this week. Team showed a lot of mental toughness.

This is a well coached team that plays determined football for 60 minutes.  A little injection of talent at a few spots and this team will be able to take on any team in the NFL in 2021.

I saw exactly one replay on the broadcast that happened after the play, and from the angle they showed, it looked to me like his foot was inbounds, and at very worst, inconclusive.

I don't recall -- did they actually take the time to review that play? I figure they did as otherwise I would have thrown a red flag to challenge, so must have missed the refs taking time to review the play or any additional angles they may have shown.

This team just beat Kansas City on the road and has beaten New Orleans. They simply ran into a train in Tampa. They can play with anybody right now. I'm not sure anybody hangs with Tampa the way Brady played that day.

He was in. They called it out with out hesitating, i guess that negates the need for refs to review. Gruden challenged and got the no clear evidence BS. Hats off to the broadcast team for referring to the index card as a sign of their BS call out too

As much as I wanted him to be in, he wasn't definitively in bounds because you can't tell from the shot if his foot is slightly elevated or not. And I started him in dynasty and picked him first round, so I'm a sucker for anything Ruggs does positively. I would have rather seen him toe tap maybe a little better, but he at least showed field awareness to a degree the way he alters his body to try and catch it and remain in bounds. It's not like DHB who would have landed both feet out of bounds.

That's what Ruggs gives you. A killer field stretcher will ball hawking skills and field awareness.

The GL stand on 2nd down looked like they got in too, No good angles replayed on the telecast, but JJ reacted as if he didn't get in. Looked like if he bounced it out to the next gap he would have got in. He showed trust in his OL to get over and followed them

I actually thought he was in (white stripe/white shoe/green in between).  Regardless, if you look at the tenor of most officials lately, they will call a TD good well knowing that a review is pending.. Ruggs is young and he'll learn, but, he's gotta give it up there and faceplant for the TD.  Maybe if he spends a few minutes with Renfrow, he can figure out how to get that second foot down..

Was really looking forward to what the kid have. Did he ever even get to play? He was our hope to be a TE blanket.
No, he never saw the field this year.

Littleton was our hope to be s TE blanket... he hasn't played up to the level of expectation when we signed him. A huge disappointment. I was so thrilled when we announced we signed him.

Same here. Thought we hit a home run with Litteton, to date he's shown nothing. Worst part is we can't really unload him in off-season without taking a big cap hit.

Dunlap apparently wanted to be traded to the Raiders.
I would have kicked those tires. Guenther and Dunlap were good for each other, and Dunlap while 31 was fairly consistent in production in Cinci.

What did he go for? Finney and a 7th? If they were looking for an O-linemen, not sure we can afford to trade away depth there. Even a guy like Omameh can potentially be of use this year.

We do desperately need a pass rush though.

Vic Beasley was released today. Titans cut him for a reason but it couldn't hurt to kick the tires on a situational pass rusher at virtually no cost.

Brown, Abram both missed practice with "illness". Abram is expected to play. Brown is still recovering from the ordeal last week and unsure of whether he will play or not.

Miller missed practice due to ankle injury.

Jackson and Young were limited in practice.

Hudson did not practice but that was resting him.

Hurst, Heath and Hankins also did not practice.

On the bright side- Edwards was a limited participant and Jacobs was listed with a knee issue but fully participated.

NFL to fine the Raiders $500,000, Gruden $150,000 and strip the team of a 6th round draft pick for Covid protocol violations related to Trent Browns positive test in October. Escalated fines and picks were due to being a repeat offender per Charles Robinson

I get that Covid is a serious deal, but to strip a team of its ability to remain competitive in the narrow margins of the NFL is extremely heavy handed, and in excess of what the punishment should be in my opinion.  The Raiders will already be without the services of one of the most important pieces of their offense due to his disregard for personal responsibility - punishment enough, but to add this is just another example of the inconsistent and arbitrary decisions levied by Goodell over the past few years.  It's not like the Raiders were caught filming their opponent's practice before the Super Bowl or anything...

Have to follow protocols. Have a bunch of teams not follow and have multiple outbreaks due to not doing their best it can jeopardize the season (a lot of money) so the league needs to do what they can to ensure the money train keeps rolling.

Did the Titans lose a draft pick for their disregard for Covid 19 protocol?

Did the Titans lose a draft pick for their disregard for Covid 19 protocol?
Were they already fined and warned for failing to follow protocol before that? I didn't follow it too closely but seems like they had an outbreak and then broke protocol with a workout. Have they had further violations after that incident that has gone unpunished?
