I didn't realize how bad it was for Sinead until I saw a video somebody posted today of her appearance on Dr. Phil. It's no wonder she had this fire inside of her and took no crap from anybody.
All those that criticized her for her actions should have to walk a mile in her shoes. They look like idiots.
Child abuse is the most horrific thing. You are young, innocent, trusting and you're violated by those that are supposed to love and care for you without condition.

wife had been telling our son about her earlier this year- felt like she was going to have a big breakout renaissance and wnated him to look at covering some of her work... freaking sucks. Her and Dolores O'Riordan (damn, already 5 years ago) dying young just kills that incredible generation of Irish women powerhouses.

One of the saddest parts of that great Eagles documentary was the way his time in the band ended.

He only got to sing one song during each show and it was a difficult song to get through, in particular that long note at the end. He was always worried about missing the mark, and having the audience only remember him for that one mistake.

Meisner made a great point: if Don or Glenn screwed up a line they each had another half dozen tunes to make up for it, but he only had that one shot to get it right.

I didn't actively listen to O'Connor, but she definitely had a great voice, and the version that Roger Waters did of Pink Floyd's Mother in at the Berlin Wall show in 1990 with her on lead vocals is phenomenal.

It's too bad that Meisner never got to cash in big time like the rest of the Eagles in the last few decades, but that is what happens when the two band leaders are two of the biggest jerks in the history of popular rock music.

Meisner had some mental and physical issues which made him a liability for a full-scale Eagles reunion. Apparently there was talk of bringing him back for a guest spot during the 2013 tour (as they did with Bernie Leadon), but he was too ill for it to work.

Anyway, here are a few of Randy's solo recordings that I enjoy:

Randy's Try and Love Again was one of the best songs on Hotel California, and best Eagles songs overall. All My boys loved it. We played the ship outta the Eagles from like 87-95. R.I.P.

My favorite Meisner Eagles song was the closer of their debut album. Tryin'
 
I saw the Eagles in the first rock concert ever at Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati in August 1978. Jerry Springer, Cincinnati Mayor at the time organized it. Meisner left the group 8 months earlier. It was over 100 degrees that day with Eddie Money (two tickets to paradise and Baby Hold On) came out first, followed by the Steve Miller band, who just came out with the album Book of Dreams, followed by the Eagles as the headliner. Joe Walsh just came out with Life’s been Good. It cooled down a lot after dark. Great concert with everyone in their prime.

for those that haven't seen it, check out his HBO special, it's his original stage show that included Phil Hartman - completely original stuff and hiliarious

loved his movies and his kids' Saturday morning TV show was appointment television (may have been the driving reason we broke down and bought a vcr)
 
Pee Wee was an absolute nut but man did I love Big Adventure, the stand-up and his Playhouse as a kid. The movie still holds up as just a wild strange trip of a film. Rumor has it Pauline Kael of all people pushed for it to win the NY Critics Circle Film of the Year over Shoah (the 8 hour Holocaust doc). RIP.

How so? The show was already ending before the incident. It went out of syndication but he’s the star of a show for kids, that does seem like a pretty logical move. Any kind of sex scandal connected to a kids show seems like an easy company decision. He then chose to retreat from public life and then had a reoccurring role on Murphy Brown like 2 years later. He certainly was humiliated and lost syndication money but much of it was his own choosing. The public generally supported him. I don’t think he wanted to do Pee Wee anymore anyway, even before the incident.

Oddly enough, last week I just watched him win the Mid-South TV championship from Terry Taylor by planting a big ol' kiss on him. People in Mid-south didn't take kindly to that kind of behavior back in mid 80's. RIP exotic one!

His first appearance after the scandal was the roadmap for every other celeb that's embarrassed. Peewee walking out onto the 1991 MTV Music Video Awards, and having the perfect line, was amazing.

I was a senior in high school, and watched this live with a big group, and the place went wild after his line. In that one split second, one roar of the MTV generation, and he went from toxic to viable, just like that. He was the story of the night, when the VMA was a big big deal.

Yep, he had such a special comic touch and by all accounts was one of genuinely best people in the entertainment business. A truly nice man.

I was kind of indifferent to the Pee Wee Herman show on Saturday mornings. I thought the show was complete nonsense, but I watched every weekend because he had a unique charisma and I had to watch.

My little brother and I watched that show every Saturday because my dad worked Saturdays. One random week he had a Saturday off and he came into the the living room and watched the show behind us for about 3 minutes and shut off the television and this was the interaction.

Little brother and I " Hey, we are watching that"

Dad, " not anymore"

Us, " Why not?"

Dad, "No children of mine are going to watch a coked out, ripoff Mr. Rogers"

We never got to watch the show again.

I remember watching that live and it was great as you described. Handled it with humility and humor. Still, he was blacklisted by Hollywood for a while and dealt with severe depression due to the scandal.

Was just making a comeback as an actor when the B.S. stuff about child porn came out due to an overzealous prosecutor trying to make a name for themself in the early ‘00’s.
