Pivot is being used by every political talking head lately and it's just driving me nuts.

It's weird how certain words become like ear worms...and spread like the flu when others hear it.

Again...I should've posted that in the "words/phrases" thread...but damned if search cares for me on this site half the time.

As for players "eating"...have you not watched a sporting event over the past couple of years?  From high school, college to pros...a player gets a dunk or gets a sack...he MUST proceed to act as if he's eating from a bowl of some sort of sustenance.  I'm assuming cereal...but I guess it could be chili...maybe it's soup.  Guess Campbell's or Quaker Oats could co-opt it for their commercials...someone get a marketing exec on the line.  Let's milk this thing while it's still got play...

People taking their dogs into public.  Last weekend, I saw a woman walking some little rat with a hippy wig through Target.  I thought it was odd, but dismissed it.  At Home Depot this weekend, I saw an older couple walking the same sort of dog through the store, then saw a couple (looked to be in their 20s, maybe early 30s), each walking a much larger dog through the store.

they used pivot in house of cards the rebpuclian candidate said it to his wife one time so i guess that is what is eating these guys up brohan bam another riddle solved by the old swcer take that to the netflix thread bank bromigos

Starting to think 90% of single women in their 30s do yoga every day and have a dog who is their "kid".

Stop that whole thing please.

Pivot seems to be used properly, no issue with it. For example I hear people saying, "Now that Hillary has the nomination wrapped up she can pivot to a general election strategy." "Trump is now trying to pivot from earlier statements that he would ban all Muslims from entering the country."

As for eating, it's this:

Want saying it was misused...just entirely OVERused.

Hipster Beards. It stopped being cool when 50% of all the men at my company grew them. Now you just look like a conformist doosh. Or James Harden.

The only thing I hate about hipster beards is that it has been my signature look from December to March for nearly a decade. Going forward will I just look like a hipster that couldn't let go?

To be clear I just mean the overgrown beard, not the handle bar or spiraled mustached kind.

Ok, now that we have that out of the way, can we continue having a normal conversation? I asked a legitimate question as I sometimes like having a beard, but don't want to be thought of as a hipster. If I was trying to be a #####, I would have just replied to someone having a conversation here and called them a name.
I gave you an answer. As long as you're not a doosh, you should be OK.  I wasn't calling you a doosh.

It might depend on how old you are. I feel like the mustache mostly died at some point in life the 80s/early 90s. However, lots of "dads" kept them (many still). Did people think they just couldn't give it up or just chalk it up as middle aged dad look? Will the beard just become the new dad look?

My apologies, I took it the wrong way. Although I still think your answer is a bit vague.
The hipster beard is just as much about mentality as it is the look. They exude an air of superiority with a ridiculously long beard. So as long as you act normal, people won't really care.

Exactly right, if you look through those google images, you also see the hipster hairstyle, glasses, clothing, ink... etc.

What's with all these young guys at my work wearing pants that are 2 inches too short with colorful socks,  and bow ties? They look completely ridiculous to me but hey,  I'm old.

ETA:maybe this should go to the fashion thread,  but I don't do fashion.
