every job-site or vendor I go to, I'm giving and taking cards. I look forward to the day we beam it phone-to-phone, which is probably soon- but until then this is the best way of giving and taking work-related info that I've seen used at my job sites.

but I'm all ears for a better solution that isn't archaic, dumb and wasteful. that's also available to the people I work with...

I like Facebook. It's neat to keep up with friends/family, post pictures, etc.

But I've had enough of "friends" that only post things related to their business.

Mainly pyramid schemers and workout morons.

I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt, and I certainly promote my own business on Facebook from time to time (especially during football season), but by no means is it the only reason I'm there.

I walk onto a job site, and I'm often meeting guys in varying trades I've never seen before. I'm not going to try to remember the guy's name and/or company type or name and then find him on linkedin. that's what business cards are for.

I imagine normal grownups who's work involves meeting other people exchange business cards. But since it's been brought up in this thread- I'm still trying to find out what the alternative is... I'm happy for Option B.

I wear a hologram projector around my forehead when I go to trade shows. I tell people to scan the QR code that the hologram projector displays. The QR code then opens up my LinkedIn page. Pretty neat.
