Adrian Peterson's turn to get the boot from the NFL (1 Viewer)

Do state laws pertain to how the Vikings will handle the situation? I mean Ben Roethlisberger raped a girl, sometimes a player is too value to release. The fact that Peterson wasn't outright released tells me there's a chance he will stick around.

You can't just start blackballing people. The fans want to see AP play, me at least. Vikings fans REALLY want him to play, they have no chance of the playoffs without him. Let's get him back on the field!

moral of the story: as long as the fans are entertained on game day, who gives a crap what these guys do.

Jim Brown would not have lasted a year in todays NFL. Brown beat the crap out of every woman he dated.
I wish he would have dated Tim.

Have we learned what the kid did to "earn" the whipping? Only thing I've heard was that he interrupted a game being played by other kids.

Reminds me of the politician who was videotaped whipping his kid with a belt because the kid couldn't catch a baseball.

Well, the prosecutor does, and the kid's mother does, and the doctors did, and the grand jury did. How about we let the criminal justice system do its job. And when its done his employers will do theirs--which is gauging whether its a good business decision to bring him back. Unless you are suggesting AD doesn't have the right to ever have any job given what he did, the NFL and the Vikings will determine whether the job he should have is as a running back.

that was sarcasm, and attempting to point out how dumb em's thinking is. evidently I failed.

I'm sure the fans' expectations will factor into whether AD gets another chance in the NFL.

Anybody giving Em #### for that post must have forgotten how fans have acted in the entire history of sports. Up until about Monday morning.

I'm not saying it's right. Certainly, it's a great discussion to have, but that viewpoint has been shared by most sports fans forever. "Get him back on the field" has generally been the norm.

Again all this stuff sucks but to peg it as "new" and "something needs to be done" is BS. It has been problem for decades and only superficial steps will be taken. Rice beats his wife and AP beats his kid and lets get on the message board and ##### about it when the same thing is most likely happening a few doors down from where you live and you don't give a crap about it.

Terrible posting. If i, and i assume most of the population, knew my neighbor was beating their kid I'd be on the phone to CPS and telling them to their face what a horrible person they are.

He's getting better at being worse.

What's with the need for a weapon in this spot? Hand to the rear end not enough for a child?

Really don't get that part.

Adrian Peterson is the most talented Running Back that I have ever seen. Let the legal system take care of him if that's what needs to be done. Otherwise, get him back on the field. This is football season. If he's guilty, throw him in jail. If not, the fans deserve to see him out there.

Ray Lewis killed a guy and gets to be a sports broadcaster. I'll say it again, Ben Roethlisberger raped a woman.

I'm obviously not in this for the dumb drama like some of you guys. Yes, these are young African American men. Of course they have demons, but that's none of my concern. If the guy isn't in jail then he should be on the football field. This isn't the moral Olympics, this is the NFL.

Should he have spanked a child with a switch? I was spanked with a belt by my father who was a policeman. Sometimes if I moved during the spanking there would be marks on my hands where I tried to protect my butt. Right? Wrong? I dunno, but I have "whipped" my children with my hand, and for the most part they are not the a hole kid I was. Culturally the more education a person has the less spanking there will be in that house. Right or wrong it is not against the law to spank a child in the state of Texas. AD crossed the line and he has apologized for it. What would be a just punishment for AD? Prison time? A fine? Never get to see his kid again? Today on a local sports radio show a black man was talking about how spanking is a cultural thing in the black community. This black radio announcer went on to say that he has never spanked his 5 year old daughter, but had "thumped" her in the head many times to get her attention. So to each their own I guess.

It can't be stated often enough how dumb eminence is.
No man, I'm just not a #####. We know the league is full of thugs, the only ones playing are just the ones that haven't been caught. If Adrian Peterson gets jail time then that is sufficient reason not to play. Throw him in an anger management class and get him back on the field.

I love the new he has apologized lets move on thing. Really apologies are now the legal currency of the day?" I beat my kid bloody and bruised is that frowned on here? Well if I would have known that would be a problem I certainly wouldn't have hit him with a stick 15-16 times including across his scrotum apparently. I just didn't know, my bad. Time to get on to the game." Yeah that seems like enough punishment let's move on.

Perhaps he was referring to your statement that of course African Americans have demons based on the fact that they are African American. Perhaps he was referring to more.

Oh shut up. I actually agree with you on this but just shut up with this.

But I guess there are always some who only read what they want so as to reaffirm pre-conceived notions.
You posting at 5:30 AM Pacific Time on a Saturday morning reaffirms my notion that you don't actually live on the West Coast.
With all due respect (FYI, that's nil to none) who the #### are you to question anyone?

Seriously. Who the #### are you?

I am by no means an expert on this subject. But, I believe so folks are taught from a religious perspective that punishing with an object is preferential to punishing with your hand in the sense that the hand should be used for love/affection or something like that. I am sure there are some folks who could articulate my point better, assuming I am remembering correctly.

Everyone's turning on each other here all of a sudden and forgetting the real enemy in all this, the HOF Selection Committee.

The focus should be more on education, not punishment, since he still has

If you lived in Texas where it's legal to beat children with a switch you'd get your ### kicked for saying that.

Reminds me of the politician who was videotaped whipping his kid with a belt because the kid couldn't catch a baseball.
The two things he mentioned were pushing a kid off of a motorcycle video game (kid could have been serious hurt) and scratching a kid's face.

I am not sure anyone is saying that a simple apology and moving on is enough. I do have some discomfort with the prospect that NFL football players are now held to some moral standard we do not require of people in even more important societal positions. I have some significant concerns with players being punished due to media/public opinion lynchings before they have even had due process in a court of law. That is effing scary to me.

Should the guy who delivers the mail lose his job if he is indicted by a grand jury for child abuse? What about the guy ringing you up at the grocery store? Doesn't anyone find it a little scary that whenever someone does something or is alleged to have done something that crosses the line of the Twitter conscious-phere that they somehow become the most evil person in the world and that they should lose their job?

As alluded to in many other comments in many other forums, you have guys who were involved in the death of another human being still playing, still making a living working for television networks, etc. I don't want to get political by any stretch of the imagination, but we have politicians trying to take the political high ground and tell the NFL what to do. We have the National Organization for Women, which was absolutely silent when Bill Clinton was being accused of sexual harassment and rape (never mind banging interns and cheating on his wife) calling for the commissioner (basically the president) of the NFL to step down.

Are you ####### kidding me? We have politicians getting on their high horse and acting as if they have the moral authority and right to tell a private organization how they should handle their business when they collectively turn a blind eye, rationalize and explain away the corrupt and illegal behavior of their colleagues? Something like 15% of the Democratic senators in the state of California are facing criminal charges and the Dem leadership will not even expel them. The world is off its rocker right now and I have no idea how we find some semblance of common sense, proportion and moral consistency and fairness.

It's strange that convicted felons (Michael Vick, Pacman Jones) continue to occupy roster spots with barely a peep of outrage, while fans call for permanent banishment of guys who haven't even been put on trial, let alone been convicted of anything (Ray Rice, ADP).

I think he's saying there's no outrage about them being allowed to play after serving their time.

The ####heads who want to talk about his value as a football player and what this will do to his legacy can go to hell. As a lifelong Vikings fan I absolutely do not want to see him on the field right now.
