Not a good lookAOC is at it again - now promoting the idea that statues of despicable people like Saint Damien is "patriarchy and white supremacist culture".

She certainly didn’t say that Saint Damien was despicable.AOC is at it again - now promoting the idea that statues of despicable people like Saint Damien is "patriarchy and white supremacist culture".
It's certainly what she inferred. I added that - the vitriol coming from her on subjects like this is palpable. She certainly didn’t say that Saint Damien was despicable.
Well if that’s the sort of article about her you’re used to reading I’m not surprised you feel that way. It's certainly what she inferred. I added that - the vitriol coming from her on subjects like this is palpable.
The beginning to the article really makes me not want to continue reading. It acts as though she was some rich brat and ignores the context that she had not even started her job and had to find a place to live in one of the most expensive places in the country.AOC is at it again - now promoting the idea that statues of despicable people like Saint Damien is "patriarchy and white supremacist culture".
Don't worry, you're not missing anything by not reading that article. I read that one and a few more on right wing or religious websites and not a single one of them even explained what AOC's point was or why she was randomly attacking some Catholic Saint. It wasn't until I looked at her Twitter that I was able to piece the story together. Every state gets to have two statues in the Capitol building. AOC posted on twitter about how they were almost all white men, even in a place like Hawaii. That has been twisted by @Sand into her saying that St. Damien was "despicable." It's total nonsense. The beginning to the article really makes me not want to continue reading. Context and intent are important.Don't worry, you're not missing anything by not reading that article. In any case, it's pretty rich for right wing folks to invoke a saint who helped poor sick people to criticize AOC. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say St. Damien would probably be a fan of Medicare For All.
Par for the course that you think all Saints would be Democrats.I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say St. Damien would probably be a fan of Medicare For All.
Assuming she’s talking about AOC, Bernie, etc., I’d say she’s pretty much spot-onI think we need to focus less on looks and social media presence and more on sanity, intelligence, and rationality.
eta: I just looked her up on google and the first two tweets they posted talked about the 'lunatic left'.
Cool.Assuming she’s talking about AOC, Bernie, etc., I’d say she’s pretty much spot-on
Are Q people allowed to assign the tag "lunatic" to someone else?Assuming she’s talking about AOC, Bernie, etc., I’d say she’s pretty much spot-on
Who lost? She lost. Not that I would have ever heard of her except for this thread. RIP
Far more importantly Cori Bush won against the incumbent in MO.
The AOC of the right? Oh well, it was a run.I meant Carmelita whoever in MI 11th. I didn't feel like giving her any more oxygen in this thread but couldn't help checking that race.
Lotta progressive wins yesterday too though.
They do.  Carmelita Greco, she will be arriving this fall. Very outspoken, attractive and feisty just like AOC but with different views.GOP would love to have an AOC. Young, strong female with social presence - just a different platform
She’s a cake snifferI meant Carmelita whoever in MI 11th. I didn't feel like giving her any more oxygen in this thread but couldn't help checking that race.

No $$$$$. Esshaki who won the primary has big donors to oust Haley Stevens and I guess that is all that matters.
What is the hypocrisy? The latest gem:
"NYPD union endorsed Trump. I’m sure this is part of their neighborhood outreach plan. Also, does anyone else see a potential problem with police unions - enforcement arms of the state with lethal weapons - promoting “preferred” candidates for office or is that just me?"
I continue to be amazed at what she has to say. The hypocrisy here is just stunning.
Democrats take money from the teachers unions. What is the hypocrisy?
This isn’t her most well thought out comment, but is it really stunning? She’s young and is going to occasionally make comments she later regrets. The latest gem:

All the time. Both sides. This isn’t her most well thought out comment, but is it really stunning? She’s young and is going to occasionally make comments she later regrets.
If you find this stunning, you must be speechless and dumbfounded by what you see from conservatives these days.
Expand that out to many, many public sector unions.Democrats take money from the teachers unions.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez @AOC · 34sShe was whining while in a congressional hearing about her student loans.
To then spend 250+ on your hair is really dumb. I know you know this.
...the real hypocrisy is the idiotic vitriol she spews out and is shocked when people respond in kind.Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez @AOC · 34s
US House candidate, NY-14
Last year Republicans sent a firehouse of hatred + vitriol my way because I treated myself to a $250 cut & lowlights on my birthday.
Where’s the criticism of their idol spending $70k on hairstyling?
Oh, it’s nowhere because they’re spineless, misogynistic hypocrites? Got it.
Tough. But fair.
...the real hypocrisy is the idiotic vitriol she spews out and is shocked when people respond in kind.
Thought we were supposed to be 'more cool' in here. This isn't very cool....the real hypocrisy is the idiotic vitriol she spews out and is shocked when people respond in kind.
I'm assuming she'll get pulled into the DNC machine by then, but hopeful she stands strongI can’t wait to vote for AOC for President.
You sure do seem to get triggered by her tweets...the real hypocrisy is the idiotic vitriol she spews out and is shocked when people respond in kind.
Link? Laughing at and triggered are not the same. You sure do seem to get triggered by her tweets
I am not sure what kind of coolness politicians like Trump and AOC who tweet out stuff like calling critics "spineless, misogynistic hypocrites" can expect.Thought we were supposed to be 'more cool' in here. This isn't very cool.
If I said of Trump what you said of AOC I'd be booted out of here in a hurry. Not sure why you get a pass on AOC.I am not sure what kind of coolness politicians like Trump and AOC who tweet out stuff like calling critics "spineless, misogynistic hypocrites" can expect.
You know why, its just how it is here.If I said of Trump what you said of AOC I'd be booted out of here in a hurry. He was the hair apparent....Not directed at anyone, but we sure are spending a lot of time discussing haircare in this country these days.
Her Greatest Hits album is presently on backorder. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgecdWSeUWgI can’t wait to vote for AOC for President.
This statement can be made of 95% of twitter users. That's why, in some ways, she's the left's version of Trump. She tweets emotionally and without thinking, just like Trump always does. Plenty of differences of course, but they are virtually alike in that regard.
She wouldn't last one second on a primary debate stage.I can’t wait to vote for AOC for President.
