Another Norwood String (1 Viewer)

With Dunn aching, I'm betting on 19/110/1Thoughts?
Norwood won't get 19 carries unless Dunn doesn't start or leaves the game. The yardage totals & TD depend on whether or not he breaks one off.
:goodposting: I agree that he is the epitome of boom or bust due to his situation with Dunn. It is nearly impossible to predict even an "average" or an educated guess of what he will do with his token 5 carries per game. With Dunn ailing he could get more carries, but again, Dunn is not out and he gets the start.

Word on the Sports Radios here in Atlanta, is that the Coaching staff knows they need to get Norwood more involved & plan on doing so. We shall see.

He's gotten 8 or more carries in four of his last six games, including 22 in the last two. Factor in the team's desire to get him the ball more and Dunn's acknowledgment that he's ailing and I think Norwood is a good bet to get around 10 carries at least a game going forward. Nineteen carries is likely too high barring an injury to Dunn since the team remains committed to him as the starter.

But if the matchup is right (which I think this week's is against Tampa Bay), I think a projection of at least 10 carries and 45 yards rushing is a good place to start. The Falcons ran all over the Bucs in the first game. Dunn went 21-134 and Norwood was 9-45. If the Falcons run the ball around 30 times again and a few of the carries are taken away from Dunn and given to Norwood now he stands a chance of rushing for 50-60 yards.

He's definitely an upside play but if 45 yards rushing or so won't kill you then he's worth a look as a RB3 in flex leagues this week in my opinion. I think that's the worst he'll do and he obviously has the potential to rush for a lot more than that.

They ran for 300 as a team last time they played so I would figure they would have lots of yards to go around. If you figure 80 for Vick and 100+ for Dunn that would leave plenty for Norwood if they can get it going like they did the first time around. Mora dropped a lot of manlove for Norwood in his press clippings this week, I think he gets more than his usual 10 carries (12-15 my gut tells me). They love running him late as evinced by his 4th quarter stats, so getting him a involved "a little earlier in the game" tells me they plan to come closer to a shared backfied this week. Dunn is the man, but they will likely run A LOT this week.

ETA: If the Falcons can get a nice lead early and they have the momentum, I could see Dunn resting the second half and it becoming the Norwood show. Just an if, but this week feels to me like a turning point for Norwoods value.

I agree. He has to get the ball more and when he has good things happen.I'm a huge Norwood fan, but not sure what to think of the kind of runner he'll be in the future. He's been given opps to knock it in from the goal line this year and hasn't been able to do that. He did show some inside power this preseason, so maybe he just hasn't got enough tries this year from in close. We know he's a home run hitter, and has some sick moves in space, but I wonder if he'll be an all around back or a Tatum Bell kind of dude. I think his moves and speed surpass Bell, but it will be interesting to see how he progresses the next few years.

He is fun to watch. Norwood reminds me of Gale Sayers a bit; long legs, good body control and freakish speed. I'm a bit suprised Jerious didn't break any returns on special teams this year.
