Anybody else benching Megatron this week? (1 Viewer)

It is always difficult to bench a stud, and Calvin is in an elite class. However, nobody is talking about benching a healthy Megatron. If you have another quality option at receiver who is healthy (i.e. Antonio Brown), you have to give serious consideration to leaving Calvin Johnson out of your lineup this week. If you are contemplating a middling flex-worthy receiver over Calvin (i.e. Simpson), I would roll with Calvin.

I am rolling with Calvin over Keenan Allen, but I will not say I am confident with that choice.

sticking with Blackmon and I'm OK with it. Some people will be right, some will wrong. We'll see which one I'll be.

The drills I have seen him run he sure looked fine. Supposedly he can't cut left. So expect a lot of him lining up on the left side and slanting to the right. Risk is Haden jumping that route every time if you're a Stafford owner like me. This isn't just all about Calvin. Most expect the Lions to struggle overall vs. the Browns D. Add Haden to the mix and you're not going to see a 200 yard, 2 TD performance out of Calvin. But could you see 60 and 1? Possiblly. To the owner who has Blackmon - I agree. He's not a stiff - and he's playing a sieve secondary. I'd start Blackmon over Calvin today.

Questionable already, gametime decision and I think even if he plays it's going to tough sledding against Haden and the Cleveland secondary. I'm starting Steve Smith against the crappy Vikings secondary with confidence instead. I just can't see him having a big game tomorrow if he even plays.
you sir are legitimately insane!

I have to pick 4... but Cruz and Marshall already played... so I have to pick 2 between:

- Johnson

- Julius Thomas

- Jordan Cameron

I'm going with Thomas and Cameron.

Calvin nearly had the diving TD, but sitting him was the right call this week. He's too hurt to put up stud numbers right now.

Congrats to those that had the balls to go against conventional wisdom. Hope your replacements helped you win this week.

don't think i'll win, but putting Vernon in was the right call.

with there being so little info available, this would be a tough but, it turns out, correct call.

is there still any hint as to what the actual injury is?

Meh. Calvin had 2 pretty bad and uncharacteristic drops. One would have been a TD the other about a 15 yd gain. He was used enough to out up nice stays. He just laid an egg.

let's see how he does next week in practice. I have a feeling we are headed towards a similar situation next week and more tough choices.

since Lions don't reveal any specifics, really no way to tell if this is something that may linger or what.

Good call OP, I have never bought into the start your studs at all costs. If you have a decent option and your guy is hurt or hurting then I would sit him.

Woke up and ended up starting Megatron after all. Of course he was in no shape to go up against Cleveland's secondary as I had suspected. Thankfully Steve Smith only had 8 points more than him in my PPR league so it wouldnt have mattered either way.

For the guy who was asking about openings in my league, we're a 14 team PPR league with IDP thats been running about 15 years. I know what I'm doing, I watch the games and Megatron's not Megatron right now and Cleveland's secondary's been great. Detroit won today by adjusting to Cleveland's weaknesses and going with the short game instead of force feeding Megatron all day.

it's been two weeks and we still don't know much about this injury...makes it tough to evaluate if he is playable.....

Went from not playing at all to playing, so he's improving. At least it's not like Gronk's situation...

bust of the year, next to spiller
HAHA! He's hurt! He missed week 5 and was a decoy in week 6. If you want to call an injured player a bust, go for it...but most people on this board will agree an injury doesn't make a player a bust.

In his first 4 games he had 312 yards and 4 TDs. That's an average of 78 yards and a TD each week (13.8pts/week non-ppr). That's good for #6WR in my league. Sure, not #1 where he was drafted, but how can you call that the "bust of the year"?

he did have 8 targets and dropped a TD. When hes on the field Stafford is throwing to him... still can't bench him. Are you going to bench Dez as well?

so you wouldn't consider roddy white a bust this year

Not true. A bust is a bust, regardless of whether it is a result of poor production or an injury.

As a Megatron owner in several leagues, this injury worries me.
