If yes, is your current subscription one you paid for or acquired in a another manner?

Paid/full.  For all the crap I may have put the mods through over the years I owe it to them to pay up.

Yep. Still use dodds’ rankings and I figure it’s the least I could do for how much I use the board.

Why is this in the Politics Forum?
I wondered too. I guess it'll be for a "keep the psf alive as ___% are paying subscribers" type thing.

That's not a factor. The reality is most people on the forums not only don't purchase a premium subscription but don't even care enough about Footballguys to receive the free email updates. It is what it is.

I was geniunely curious how the numbers stack up.  It wasn't intended to be a gotcha.  Obviously you have the overall numbers of subscribers to forum members (although I'm curious if you have taken into account alias accounts).  I'm likely going to kick a long time customer of mine to the curb tomorrow because the headaches outweigh the amount of hours spent pleasing them.  Had to tell another customer today that he may be better off with someone who might be a better fit for him.  I won't leave over the PF being shut down.  I also understand that it may be such a boat anchor that it's worth losing a handful of customers.  If it's impacting the quality of the content, especially the projections, as a paying customer I do hope you shut it down.  My number one concern is getting quality FF information (and I admit the subscriber contests), the forums are a very nice bonus.

MT did a poll that was very enlightening.  This is an odd group of people here.  Libertarians outnumber Conservatives and the percentage of non-regelious people is extremely high.  My gut feel was that there aren't many paying customers in the PF.  I wanted to get a read on that before it closes (if it does).  Curious how these numbers might compare to the FFA or the Shark Pool too.

I’ll admit I’ve never been a paid subscriber. I found the audible and began reading the boards. I’ve always appreciated the ability to contribute to the discussions. I had just started looking at the FFA when the PSF started.
I appreciate the psf. There are a lot of things I don’t consider or simply don’t know. I don’t see myself suddenly going to reddit or something to get the same information, or trying to filter through several different news sites to find it myself. I’m exposed to information I wouldn’t be otherwise, for better or worse.

I always like when the results of two question polls don't jive.

Question 1:  27 people subscribe

Question 2:  Now only 26 people subscribe

Wow..I totally forgot about the email updates...Gawd I remember getting those ages ago.

Yes, even though half the time I forget to read the articles for the week until 15 minutes before lineups lock.

I did for years but not any longer. I still would if I played FF but I hardly even watch football anymore. I went back to watching hockey and racing pretty exclusively.

I did subscribe to Left Wing Lock for fantasy hockey.

I have not subscribed for several years.  Only been in one league and very causual about keeping up.  The only reason I would is to support this forum.  Just not into FF football that much anymore.

With all due respect, lack of participation in the email thing might be misinterpreted. It's not necessarily a slight to the overall website. I subscribed for (I'm guessing) 10 years and loved the site content, tools, and boards. But the email updates just annoyed me. I would bet others feel the same. It's not for everybody, and doesn't necessarily indicate the bolded above.

And, FWIW, if there were a mini-subscription that only offered access to the FFA and PSF, I'd pay for that.

I killed the emails when they became DFS commercials.

Ah, yes, the ads. I had forgotten that part. Maybe that's the unspoken context of Joe's post above. If FBG makes a little side money on distributing ads via emails, that might explain getting perturbed at folks who use the message board but don't want the emails. Oops. :bag:

Interesting. We have just a single ad per email. Where most competitors have ads throughout.

For the post above, there isn't anything "unspoken" and I'm pretty sure no one is "perturbed".

We have a little over 475,000 people who care enough about FBG to opt in and request the Daily Email Update. Those are by far our most likely customers for the premium content. Like most every internet business, our model is to offer free content in the hopes of earning their trust and demonstrating we're worth the money for our premium content. The primary way we do that is with our free info on the Daily Email Update.

Most of the people on the forum don't care enough about Footballguys business to be on the free Daily Email Update.

It's not a bad thing. It's just a fact.

@Joe Bryant

Think this would be something. I'm sure this would be pretty small scale funds but money to be donated to charity or something. Just a thought.
Thanks. Several have asked that over the years.

No interest in ever doing it though as I want this to be community open to all and welcoming.

Plus the whining over suspended people wanting their money back would be unbearable.

We may someday look at an NFL forum that is only open to paying subscribers to the premium content but that would be a different thing.

I quit subscribing after I lost interest in fantasy football.  I still get the emails because I'm still interested in what's happening in the NFL.

I didn't think about this. Things get messy.

To the bolded, I'll admit that I no longer subscribe nor get the emails, but it's not that I don't care about FBG. I want you guys to do well. I just don't care about FF anymore. I stopped playing several years ago when it became more work than fun. Heck, I don't even watch more than a few minutes of the Vikings games each week because I have other stuff going on. If I still played FF or even paid much attention to the NFL, I'd absolutely have a subscription to the premium content and/or be on the daily emails. Even though I don't, I still think FBG is great and want you guys to have a successful business.

The bolded struck me as if you think that we don't care if you succeed, which is probably not what you're saying.  Just know that I, and probably many others that use the forums, still care in the sense that I want you guys to be successful, even if we no longer subscribe.

Used to when they offered the packages years.

Now too expensive for how little I care about FF.

Wait for the price drop this year.

Awful year for the guys this year imo.  Usually do well Primer -- not this year :)

Subscriber for about 7 years.  Not for the past few as FFB interest has waned.  Too much injury-related luck wore me down, though I still manage a team for group integrity (and won the league last year😎).  Still an avid fantasy baseball participant.  I must be getting lucky with my SPs.

Oh for sure. No worries there. When I say care, I mean care about purchasing a Footballguys Premium subscription. And to be fair, the overwhelming vast majority of the world doesn't care about a FBG subscription. I totally get that.

I don't think anyone at all would wish us anything but success. Most everyone here realizes the only way the forums are here is if Footballguys sells enough Premium Subscriptions to stay a viable business. So I think they all clearly understand if they like the forums, they want the Footballguys business to succeed.

All good good there.

How about a donation option?  I mean, now that I think about it I could just subscribe again and not use it but I care so little about FF now that I don't ever think about it.  However, it would be good to have a mechanism to see how many people care enough about the forums to actually pay for them - even via a donation.

This year I've been using the 5/10-second Primer feature like I always have (since its been around) or the "MY WEEKLY CHEATSHEET (INSEASON)" thing

And every year its been "on the money" for the most part.

This year the recommended starts are being outscored by my other players on a regular basis.

So "the guys" are having a tough year this year with their suggestions....

Wasn't meant as a knock as I know its not an exact science - just compared to previous years, for me this has been a tough year ...

Sorry if it came across as a dig... it wasn't meant as one

So you do subscribe now or you "used to" but now don't because it's "too expensive" and you care so little about FF?

Sorry was multitasking

I used to always buy the multi-year packages.

now I feel it's too expensive for how little I care about fantasy football but

I waited and the price dropped to subscribe this year.

So yes I currently have it but it wasn't until the price dropped.

Ok. Yes, once the season starts we have a discounted price for the people that missed the Draft Content and missed an entry into the $35,000 contest.

It's definitely not worth it for everyone. For sure it's likely not worth it to people who care little about Fantasy Football.

It's been a challenging year some guys like Odell Beckham underperforming while guys like DJ Chark are near the top. But that's pretty much how the league goes. It's always tough picking the start / bench guys week to week but by and large, we've been hitting those better than ever. Hope it turns around for you.

This is probably the biggest issue for me. (that, and I only play in one league nowadays, instead of the 5 or 6 leagues of years past). We draft so early in the year. (2 weeks after NFL draft). It's difficult to find information that early. So, I've gotten used to going it alone.

Yes, since the first year they started charging for content. IIRC, Joe and/or David asked how many people would subscribe if they started charging. Been doing FFL since before there was an internet as we know it. Earliest memories of on-line content was The Huddle and Cheatsheets.net. Both were free.

I still love Draft Dominator and use some weekly content regularly.

Thanks for clarifying that. It did come off as pretty pissy.
