Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700 - Update: How is the TF701? (1 Viewer)

Been researching tablets for a while now and I think I am leaning towards the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700. Anyone have one? What are your impressions? This will be my first Android device so looking forward to getting one. I also debated getting the Toshiba Excite 10LE but the Infinity blows it away with processing power and image quality. Will answer yours

I have an earlier Asus Transformer tablet...

PRO - Great battery life, especially with the optional keyboard that acts as a completely integrated experience as opposed to a third party after though. It also makes watching video such a better experience than having just the tablet. I've never been disappointed by the fit and finish of any of my Asus products and this tablet is no exception.

CON - For people hung up on having the latest/greatest or easily get buyers remorse then Asus may not be your best bet because they seemingly announce or release a new tablet every four months or so.

If you need to buy now I don't think you can really go wrong but imo the "old" Asus tablets that will be available pre-black-friday deals will be amazing values. For instance watch CowBoom closely and if you can find something with a 7+ rating in my experience they seem nearly brand new(perhaps I've just been lucky).

IMO, it's the best Android tablet on the market. I have the Prime which is the predecessor to the Infinity and love it. The Infinity has some nice improvements and doesn't cost much more than the Prime.

i have one and really like it.

I'm not sure what you're really looking for it to do, but here's what i do with mine and it works great for it:

1) surf the net - pretty good browsing experience now with chrome or firefox beta - doesn't pigeonhole you into mobile sites like older tablets

2) listen to podcasts/music - does great

3) watch shows - does great

4) type short e-mails - great

5) read comics - wonderful

6) read books? - my non-backlit nook is much better for actual books

7) gaming - i'm not huge into it, but i really enjoy the emulators that allow me to play old NES/SNES favorites

battery life - i think its very good depending on what you're doing with it and what your expectations are.

There are some tweaks i had to do to mine to be totally satisfied - especially with the volume when not using a headset

pretty good website here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1661

has it crashed on me a few times? yes. badly? no.

i bought a case for mine and a screen cover.. the touch screen works well

thanks all

has anyone had experience with the Microsoft Office products on the tablet? Reading some reviews online, it has received some good marks by business users so interesting in hearing experiences.

I was a little disappointed it doesn't have a USB drive but I understand you can buy a converter that plugs into charging connector.

I travel a lot for work so I will appreciate the long battery life.

Also how seamless is it to get your ITunes Music onto the device?

yeah, i was slightly disappointed by the no usb drive, but honestly apps like airdroid are so nice now to push files wirelessly that i don't need it... plus there's a micro SD card slot - i bought a 32GB card.I don't use itunes because i'm anti-apple.if you use it for work you'll probably pony up for the keyboard and it has a usb and sd card slot.it's a toy for me so i don't need typing or usb

i have a 32gb TF300 and i think it's great. I also picked up the docking station with the keyboard and USB port. I think the battery in the docking station is supposed to bump the charge up to about 15 hrs of normal use. Been very satisfied with the whole thing.

Can't really say much about running MS or Itunes on it.

My wife loves her Prime. Itunes works great for her, no experience with Office.

She was complaining last night that her firmware updated to Jelly Bean and 2 apps are still for Ice Cream Sandwich.

She got the keyboard and the extended battery life is great. Be forewarned DO not buy a screen cover if you buy a keyboard unless the cover is specifically designed for a keyboard. They keyboard and tablet fit very tightly together and a screen cover can pull off the felt leaving a sticky residue.

edit: she uses firefox on it so she is not limited to mobile websites.

Thanks for the feedback all. I am going to pull the trigger and get one tonight. Speaking of cases, does anyone have a case that works particularly well for the tablet?

u doing the 32 gb or 64?i found it cheaper to buy the 32 and get a 32 GB cardthen it comes with asus's 8GB of cloud storage, and then you can add 2GB free from dropbox... unless you plan to store a LOT of media, that's plenty

I'll take a look at the forum. Will probably hold off on the keyboard for now.

anyone get the new Infinity TF701T? The Tegra4, improved battery life, and supposed slow down issues with the RAM have been improved. Been looking forward to the new Infinity but want to see other opinions before I pull the trigger.
